Obamas Just Like Us

Us Weekly delights in capturing celebrities doing every-day activities to show that they're "Just Like Us!" The magazine set its sights on Barack Obama to make sure that, no matter how big a celebrity he becomes, we still know that he goes to the market, plays with babies and rides roller-coasters. You know, just like us! Scroll down for a "just like us" photo of Obama, and a link to the magazine's slideshow.

Us Weekly also has a Q&A with Obama where they waste no time asking the essential questions:

How familiar are you with Us Weekly?
My wife reads it.

Do your daughters Sasha and Malia ever ask about Britney Spears?

Actually, yeah. But they're very sensible. They're pretty down on Britney and Paris and all of that. They think that's very "yuck." They're way more into Hannah Montana and Beyonce. They got to go backstage and meet Beyonce and they just love her to death.

Read more of the interview here, including Obama's answer to the "boxers-or-briefs" question.

Check out Us Weekly's slideshow of how Obama is just like us.

Yes, he's just like me...if I had a Harvard education, married a woman that went to Princeton and was a member of the CFR, served in the state senate and then went on to be the potential POTUS with huge amount of funding from some of the world's wealthiest people all the while being hailed as the second coming.

He's just like us?

Yeah, 90% of the donations coming in small donations for individual donors, over one million individual donors since the campaign started, with an average donation of $109 dollars. you are uninformed.

He might possibly be risking over exposure... Just a thought, cause no one loved J. Lo or Ben Affleck these days...

Dear Mr. Diamond:

So let me get this straight: Under the guise that we citizens have somehow missed the politics of personal destruction that plagues every election in this country AND under the guise that you are concerned for Senator Obama's reputation and character because baseless, scurrilous attacks are sure to come from wingnuts (and obvious democratic gutter skunks pontificating not too differently from yourself), YOU HAVE DECIDED THAT IT IS IN SENATOR OBAMA'S AND AMERICA's BEST INTEREST FOR YOU TO GET A SCOOP JUMP ON THOSE DEALING IN FEARMONGERING, HATEMONGERING, LIES, AND ASPERSIONS BY WEAVING TOGETHER YOUR OWN HIT BLOG OF "innuendo and guilt by association" ROOTED IN NOTHING BUT XENOPHOBIA, FEARMONGERING, HATEMONGERING, LIES, AND INNUENDO?! You know, just in case the mainstream media and wingnuts did not get to wider distribution in time to stop this Obama guy, you wanted to do your part to help "their" (translation "your")cause.

If this doesn't beat all, take the cake, or fan the schit, I don't know what does. So, it was
decided by someone(s) that you were a good operative for this move because surely if that head case T-Marsh would have written the above attack it would have been summarily dismissed for the garbage it is. You on the other hand have laid a deceptive quicksandish level ground with your first blog just two weeks ago. Then you come with a shameless and baseless attack that is so unambiguous even a blind man can see, assuming he had a working brain, which apparently you are betting against.

Your post should be insulting on so many different levels to every progressive person of good conscience who reads it, again assuming they have exercised brains. The cleverness of your ruse notwithstanding, this has brought this campaign to a new low and I find it disgusting, especially in its presentation under stupefying pretenses. The above blog is nothing more than fearmongering and hatemongering smear perpetuated as concern. If those you specifically cited in your post are the "Hit Parade", then that makes you the Grand Marshal.

I am stunned that in 2008, "pesojoe" would be bold enough to post such a clearly racist and ignorant proclomation, but the annonymity of the internet is as much an elixir for free speech as it is a licence for abusing the same right. As comnforting as it is to hear the moral and intellectual indignation from bipartisan writers to the use of racial, ethnic, and religious misinformation and prejudice to attack Senator Obama, it should be noted that to the proponents of the strategy it is only relevant for the purposes of activating their polical base. Such tactics have clearly worked, and continue to do so, ironically, in recent history, it was Senator McCain himself who was falsely accused by Republican operatives of having fathered a bi-racial child, in a tight race this cost him enough votes for President Bush to win. And, the photograph of Senator Obama in traditional dress may seem inocuous to the modern voter but to many wearing anything that resembles Arab dress makes one a threat - note the first death after 9-11 was an innocent American Sikh who was running his gas station and wearing a turban he was killed by another American who saw a charicature not a human being and had no idea that there was a pronounced difference between a Muslim, a terrorist, and a Sikh. And, finally, in regards to the name issue, calling Senator Obama, Mohamed (which is not part of his name but cojures up images of extremists) or Hussein (which is part of his name and conjures up images of Saddam Hussein and extremists), there is little that can be done to stop Coulter, Limbaugh, Cunningham, et al from utilizing all these tactics and more to demonize Senator Obama - especially individuals such as "pesojoe" who are all over the internet. The only solution is that voter participation in America must rise to compete wih the small but well organized special interest groups who the aforementioned propoganda and misinformation tactics are geared to mobilize and energize.

Barack is not ready and Hillary is? What kind of dumb statement is that. I bet people have no idea what Mrs. Clinton had accomplished in the senate in her 6 years besides the largest pork spending she got to name a few libraries and that is it. Nothing else, NADA .... Now check out Obama's during the same time. Those kind of people got us in the mess we are in and they are still not seeing it. Hillary is career professional and washed with all waters, I want someone who is new at it and maybe just turn the ship in the right direction!

Those are nice pictures and and very nice image of a would-be president. He certainly comes across very down to earth - would be nice to have a president who actually is like the american people and not living in a washington dc bubble. Can anybody imagine doing a spread like this on crabby John Mccain?????

i am a hillary supporter....

That said ... i have to say Obama comes across as a really nice genuine guy.... and quite adorable really...

I do think he has not run a campaign befitting his own personality... he either differed to axelrod in engaging in rovian tactics (pushing the race charge on clinton, harry and louise mailer etc) or he looked the other way while his people did this... both display a weakness in character hard to overlook...

8 years from now i will happily vote BO ... but in 2008 its hillary ... and if not hillary then Mccain... cos BO is just nor ready... -- he is NOT qualified to be the leader of the free world...

Obama is so superior to Clinton that he has changed her from being inevitable to being yesterday's news. Her support and appeal are so limited it would ensure a democratic defeat in november. she is now reduced to mocking people who have decided against her and blaming the media which illustrates why she is such a poor candidate.

Its a Clinton lie that Obama uses Rovian tactics. If anything it is Clinton's campaign that has resorted to such tricks. One of the tricks is to connect Obama to the Bush administration, which in your case, is clearly working. Did you read Arianna's post?

There have been so many instances of Clinton accusing Obama of doing exactly what she was doing. It's not exactly projection in the sense of the psychological term because it is not done unconsciously. Purposeful projection? Is there such a thing? Maybe I'd better stick with Orwellian allusions.

Well if Mccain wins and we have a repeat of the Bush legacy there may not be much of a country left by 2016. I'd say you need to take a closer look at what you are saying. You seem to be equating Hillary with McCain.

Sometimes it's a curse to have a good memory, but I distinctly remember Bill Clinton saying that if the election came down to Hillary and McCain that you would see the most civil contest in recent history. That's because there isn't much of a difference between those two. Bill Clinton was saying that if Hillary didn't win in November, well, a third Bush term wouldn't be so bad.

You're a sore loser. You would put up with McBush for another 4 years? More congressional stalemates? And what of Hillary's dirty tricks? You call Axlerod Rovian but it was Hillary staffers spreading those viral emails about Barrack Hussein Obama we've all seen.

Because Obama has become the clear front runner and run a campaign that worked you decry him?

As much as I want Obama to win, and I would be willing to bet quite a bit that that will happen, but if he doesn't get the nod then I will jump on the Hillary bandwagon. But at this time this country and the world needs Obama to take the reigns and make a difference that Hillary can't, and McBush won't.

Yeah I though about that too. Not to mention I never get the old grandfatherly type with the heart warming smile when I check out. It's usually some snotty 16 year old who seems to relish the fact that they get to ask someone their parents age for ID for the bottle of wine I bought. That and I have to tell them what each vegetable is so they can find the proper code. How do you not know what an artichoke is? The girl the other day was flipping through the list of vegetables for the code, looked up at me holding the artichoke and asked, "Baby Cabbage, right?" I was laughing so hard the sweet old lady behind me had to tell her what it was.

Off topic but still funny.

Yes, very funny and very true. I also get the really hungry types who want to ask me how everything in my cart tastes. I just wanna say, "Uh, you work in a grocery store, you can't find out on your own?"
