Bush On $4 Gas: "I Hadn't Heard That"

During a White House news conference Thursday morning, President Bush said the country is not headed into a recession, noting that the government has acted "robustly." His view of the economy, however, is far more chipper than that of many economists, who fear the country is entering a recession (or may even already be in one. In fact, when asked by a reporter about what advice he'd given an average American, who is faced by the prospect of $4 gallon gas, the President responded: "That's interesting. Although a large part of the increases in gas prices *is* due to the falling dollar, last i heard gas prices were rising faster than the dollar was falling, and we had, indeed, hit all-time high pump prices some time ago.

Either way - whether rising prices, falling dollar, or both are driving this, it's the Bush Economic Miracle at work!

A lot of people seem to be missing the fact that China's energy consumption doubled from 2000 to 2007.

It will probably double again within the next 5 years.

Even if oil production was INCREASING, supply and demand would DEMAND a continuing increase in prices for fossil fuels.

If "peak energy" is a reality, then it's gonna get REALLY ugly.

That isn't to say OPEC, Exxon, and Bushco aren't doing everythign within their power on TOP of this bad situation to make it worse, but trust me, we are going to LONG for the days of $100/bbl oil five years from now.

Why is Bush still only charging Exxon the same price as they paid in the 1960's , for our resources they are taking from our public land with no increase in price when everything else has risen.
Why are the oil companies getting all the tax welfare when when they are receiving record breaking prices which go up every 1/4.
Why is Saudi Arabia cutting their production if they are good friends with U.S...
Our oil companies help them to develope their oil (now I am sure that our oil companies make out also), and Bush Sr. invaded Iraq in the Gulf war against Saddam to protect Saudi Arabia and their oil , and now Bush Jr. has killed Saddam and is destructing Iraq , Iran and Syria power to give Saudi Arabia a controlling power in over those countries in the middle east..
When sh.. stinks you can smell it anywhere.
Exxon, Hallibuton , war contractors , corporations and the elite are now multi-billionaries , controlling and running our country ,,, while American's dollar isn't worst wiping thier a.. on.
Anyone that calls themself an American and can possibly vote or defend Bush and the republicans , can't be wrapped too d... tight, and must have skipped their history of our country and what our constitution is all about.
If you were working and living in Bill Clinton's administration , and now still working and have a job in Bush's term, and you can't see a difference , then you are a hopeless case, and no farther dicussion is necessary...

Just went through the ABC website and found no reference to this story...The President is obviously clueless and a liar - doesn't know the price of gas and then claims to be studing the situation... what is up with MSM that they won't consider this to be newsworthy? In fact there is almost no discussion of economy or anything else that is relevent.... I am neither a conspiracy theorist nor naive, I just wonder why the information that would make people uncomfortable doesn't seem to make it out there...
Reminds me of NBC pulling the plug on an Air Force officer in the middle of trying to tell us about the UFO matter.... or the 60min segment that was shut down in Alabama... or the failure of the MSM to talk about wiretap abuses before 911, etc...
