Dobbs Blankfein

On Tuesday, Lou Dobbs challenged Lloyd Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, to a fight while on the air. After discussing a new Economy.com report that 8.8 million American homeowners are now "underwater," Dobbs took offense at Blankfein's dismissal of his earlier claim that the economy was tanking.

Specifically, he noted:

Perhaps Lloyd would like to come on here and show me the error of my ways and educate me perhaps from his lofty Wall Street perch on how millions of Americans are faring and what their prospects are. Lloyd, you certainly -- I would love to have you do it. I would love to have you come on and talk to my face, not to my back, partner. I know it's not the way you do it on Wall Street there, hot shot, but try it here. Come on down. Open invitation.

Read a little here and you'll see.

It's not in the interest of Goldman to admit the economy is bad. That would be bad for bonuses. Personally, these investment bankers and private equity firms have done so much to harm the long-term health of our economy and security that they should be considered conspiratorial traitors. There I said it.

LOL!!! I don't like Dobbs anti mexican rants, but this was funny! Kinda easy to say the economy is great when you're at the top of the pyramid like Sachs and Bush.

I dont know if its just me, or real, that Lou gets tangeled up in his projects, over extendes himself, then draws back regrouping....He looses me at that point...I feel a lack of sincerity. I'm sort of glad I didn't see the Goldman chat....I get hyped for more, and Lou's long gone. We need consistant straight talkers, get to the point and stay there.,Knowone is dealing with subprime credit cards that were flung in our faces every day in the mail, credit extentions we could never in a million years pay off..America is hurting, it makes my stomache churn, we used credit in the end to pay fuel bills, utilitys, at the finish food. How many of us slipped into the doldrums, while the only wind we got ,was Bush, spend to keep the economy going. Perhalps Lou can get on the real story, subprime credit cards, enflated credit lines to Seniors.

Good for Lou!
Lou may stretch his point a bit too far sometimes, but we need him, and more like him, to talk about real issues.
I would really love to see him get Sandy Weill of Citigroup on to explain his (and his buddy Robert Rubin's) role in repealing Glass-Steagall and other manuevers that resulted in this subprime credit mess.

So how soon does Wall Street try to get him fired?

More likely someone from the corporation world will give him a well-paying job just to shut him up. It's easier that way.

Lou Dobbs is an odd fellow. I can't stand his incessant chatter on "illegal immigrants" yet there are times when rebuking the chairman of Goldman Sacks is exactly right on the mark. Most of these "elite" corporate money makers just don't get it. How hard it is for a lot of us ordinary folk who are struggling paycheck to paycheck just to keep our heads above water. Our members of congress and local politicians don't seem to get it either. That's why I support Barack Obama's message of change. I am older and was becoming cynical and fatalist until I listened to his message of hope. I believe that there is a tidal wave enveloping this country that we don't have to accept the status quo. It's about time. I am so proud of the young people who are involved and aren't buying the message of the baby boomers who themselves were so self-indulgent and facinated with themselves. Maybe this election will be different. God knows we have had enough of the Bush and his cronies.

Lou's "incessant chatter" is nothing more than being one person who isn't playing the "politically correct" game and pretending that illegal immigration isn't reaching critical mass for towns and smaller cities all over the U.S. Houston is a huge city and has an economy creaking under the weight of an estimated illegal alien population of 500,000 and growing. You won't read about the latest attack on a border agent here , or the last person in Houston to be murdered or killed by a drunk driving illegal alien. In fact, you won't learn anything about one of the most serious problems facing this country HERE because it isn't in keeping with Obama's pro amnesty stance.

People tend not to like to hear things they don't agree with but shooting the messenger doesn't change the message. There's a massive problem, being ignored and one that will break this country. Lou Dobbs also wrote the books on economics and has the credentials to separate himself from the politically correct talking heads or those people who would bury the truth. .

Any lifting of the skirts on the deep underlying causes of this ( http://pacificgatepost.blogspot.com/2008/02/obama-social-phenomenon.html ) should be APPLAUDED and encouraged

ANY insight and understanding is constructive. We aren't getting it from the Bartiromo/CNBC type "delving" into the heart of matters. Not that CNN ever shows much propensity for exposing underlying economic problems or treachery either, but let's not slow Lou down.

Jeebus, If I was this guy, I'd go on his show. Dobbs is such a babyfaced pussy he'd probably crap himself if he showed up.

Lou Dobbs was the first talk show host who was permitted to discuss and ask questions about the direction of our economy. His courage and respect for the facts was not emulated by any other host until Obermann addressed the trampling of our Constitution and the widespread demoguery and charlantry.
It is still a melancholy fact that the discussion of the rise of monopolies and concentrated wealth and that poisonous influence on our decision making process is kept in the background as the media discuss Obama's middle name and Hillary's campaign mismanagement. Our democracy is slipping away as our controlled media indulges in sensationalism and triva.

People like Blankfein and his children don't pay for Iraq, either in blood or treasure. Yet he's sure been loving those Bush economic policies.

Morally and ethically, he's no better than a scumbag drug dealer selling crack on a streetcorner.

I believe you are unfairly impuning the ethics of drug dealers by your comparison.
