For the second time in as many days, Sen. John McCain was forced to rebuke members of his own party for over-the-top attacks on Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama.

The presumptive GOP nominee said he disapproves of a Tennessee Republican Party press release that used an infamous photo of Obama in traditional Somali dress, called the Democrat "Barack Hussein Obama," and alleged that he consulted with anti-Semitic advisers.

Democrats need to quit complaining about the GOP's attack dog politics and begin to fight back. Unfortunatly that's what resonates with JohnQ Public and Joe Six Pack.

So....

Let's talk about McCain graduating 5th from the bottom of his Naval Academy class.

Let's talk about him being born on foreign soil.

Let's talk about him admitting he's an adulterer.

Let's talk about his shopping spree in downtown Baghdad.

Let's talk about him divorcing his first wife and marrying his second a month later.

It's time to fight "swift boats" with "truthful swift boats". Let's see where the chips fall.

Actually, this is probably good for Obama.

Tennessee Redneck voters will figure: "Any Negro who hates Jews can't be ALL bad."

Anyone who uses the H-word in a political campaign is beyond the pale and should be swiftly rebuked.

I think that McCain needs to stop apologizing and just get out of the way. He can't be responsible for his supporters.

Obama never did anything about people who insulted Hillary daily in sexist ways. He added his own 2 cents in when he could.

So McCain doesn't owe Obama protection, either.

It's curious that I had to look up John McCain's middle name because I'd never once heard it mentioned. Yet they make a point of emphasizing Barak Obama's middle name. Hmmmmmm

How does anyone with any shred of human decency still associate themselves with this party? From the racism, gay bashing and pedophile to the war mongering, honestly it is beyond me how anyone with a ounce of reason can still defend their affiliation.

I hear ya....but I see exactly the same crap out of the Democratics who support Obama. The sexism is painful, neverending, and applauded at every turn. Even he engages in sexist remarks.

So Republicans don't have a corner on the prejudice market.

Annin, what specific comment by Senator Obama was sexist?

As a woman I have seen some sexist behavior by Obama supporters, there are definitely some frat boys in the group. However in fairness the same can be said, to a much larger degree, re the racism from the Hillary supporters. I don't believe the majority of Hillary's supporters are racist. Prejudice is prejudice, it exists but at least the majority of Democrats don't tolerate it.

The over-the-top reaction of Obama's supporters regarding the use of Obama's full name just adds fuel to this fire. It is his name, he had no choice in it. Even if he were a Muslim, that would NOT disqualify him as a viable candidate for president . . . the Constitution states that there will be NO religious test for our elected officials.

People who would be influenced by the use of the "H" word will not be voting for Obama in the first place. Just chill . . . using his middle name is NOT racist . . . but your reaction to its use is.

Mz Texas, I'm glad you think so well of the Republicans... I don't. Their attack is based purely on innuendo and plays into a very nasty false email that has been going around. It's about intent and the Repigs intend to paint him as something he is not. They are doing it to get the idiots in their party to rally to McCain despite the fact that they don't agree with him on a lot of the issues.

It is the Repug's way of rallying the racist, ignorant, fundamentalist elements in their party. Certainly, at this point, that is the majority of their base. Of course there is nothing wrong with the name Hussein. What is wrong is using it in a blatantly racist way. It's their way of using it as the new code word for the "N" word. For those few who don't "get" the racial connotation, they are either extremely dense or racist themselves.

The redneck bible thumping assholes are too stupid to realize that one of America's best allies in the middle east is King Hussein of Jordan.

TN Republican Senator Lamar Alexander's Senate seat should be targeted... Allowing his Rep Chaiperson Robin Smith & Bill Hobbs communications director for the Tennessee Republican Party, to send out such a flyer is disgraceful!

Also posting stuff like this on the Republican communications directors Bill Hobb's blogsite is beneath contempt...

quote " It can be guaranteed that the Islamic extremists who monitor our resolve and remain vigilant for opportunities to attack innocent Americans are "hopeful" that Barack Obama will be the next President. Their goal to remove the "filthy bacteria" (according to Iran"s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) of Israel off the face of the earth will be much easier with either of these liberal, leftist Democrats/Progressives in the White House.

I think that the good citizens of TN need to send TN Republican Senator Lamar Alexander a message. (He is up for Re-election in Nov 08...) Bigotry should no longer be tolerated!!

I made a donation to the Tenn. Dem. Party yesterday and also called Hobbs office to express my disgust. I hope others do the same.

The GOP and their propaganda networks are simply bigots and fascists. At minimum, massive economic boycotts should be occurring. Oh, no hurry, our freedoms and our liberty can always be taken back?
Pacifying sociopaths, war criminals, and racists rarely works to stop their ignorant behavior. Having the opportunity to be born and raised in Texas and after living amongst all these Bush/Christian Taleban hypocrits, I quote their guy, John Wayne,"C'mon, you sons of bitches!"
Stand up today against this criminal coalition of corporate thieves, lying politicians, and pompous talking heads. DON'T BUY THEIR CRAP or more importantly their corporate sponsors' and tell everyone what you are doing. Stop this war!
Don't shop until our government begins real and meaningful enforcement of our basic human rights and real and meaningful criminal prosecutions for their criminal conduct. Oh yes, Virginia! Racism, lying, and aiding the corporate thugs are crimes. Hate speech emboldens their minion and the mentally ill to commit horrible acts of violence against our society usually with handguns.
Bullies are bullies in junior high and on the radio waves. Be hearten though, bullies are predictably "chicken shit".
Come to the farm sometime and I will show you how to separate the yearling from the herd into the cattle chute and come out the farside a steer. More importantly, I will show you how to avoid getting cut into that chute. Oh, did I mention the hot branding iron! Peace and may the force be with you ...

I so agree. The attitudes toward Hillary and the lack of respect have so turned me off that I'm not voting Democrat if Obama wins the nomination.

I do not want fleas.

Ann; Please recognize that, unfortunately, all three of the front runners have said and seem to have supported some unpleasant words. I'm with Obama who calls it the "silly season." There are so many more important things to pay attention to than keeping score on who slung the most or worst insults.
