John McCain 'Accidentally' Calls Himself A "Liberal Republican"

At a town hall meeting in Richardson, Texas, Thursday afternoon, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., made a gaffe that will surely provide myriad conservative radio talk show hosts confirmation of their views, by accidentally calling himself a liberal.

"I will conduct a respectful debate," McCain told the crowd at Texas Instruments, per ABC News' Bret Hovell. "Now, it will be spirited because there are stark differences. I am a proud conservative, liberal Republica--- conservative Republican," he said, catching himself. "Hello?" he said as the crowd laughed. "Easy there."

Poor Johnny McCain. It seems that his efforts at a great and glorious career always end in tragedy. I'm sure that he never envisioned his military career being spent in the Hanoi Hilton and now his political career may very well end up being remembered for him being the guy lost the presidency in the biggest landslide in history. I, for one, am not interested in another "C" student president with self-esteem issues.

The picture of McCain should cause some concern because the growth on his face appears to be larger than it usually does. I understand that he had experienced a problem with cancer, but rather than a concern over his conservative status misunderstood, he might be more concerned about the growth. I beg to differ. I am, technically, a registered Republican and you won't find a more liberal woman that can say that. Of course, I don't vote as a Republican (not since Nixon) but the GOP still sends me literature. They are a little slow, you know.

Finally the Republicans run a Presidential candidate I can vote for.

The more right wing radio rails against McCain the more appealing he is to me.

I am a registered independent who more ofthen that not has voted Democrat. If it was going to be Hillary vs McCain I'd have a decision to make. But Obama vs McCain is no decision at all for me.

McCain is a moderate and he has proven that he wants to work with Democrats. I trust him with national security. I trust Hillary with national security but I do not trust Barrack.

I think Hil,Barrack and McCain are all wrong about illegal immigration but McCain at least seems to have gotten the message that his potential voters don't like it. Out of the three, McCain seems like the lesser of three evils in that regard. Illegal immigration helps lower American wages and if Dems aren't going to fight it then I will no longer vote for them.

Also, if supreme court judges appointed by dems vote to expand the scope of emminent domain laws, why do we need them?

Neither party is really mine but as of right now, McCain is going to get my vote.

If illegal immigration is your big issue, you'd be better off voting for Obama. McCain and Clinton will both bow to the right wing corporate interests that demand the spigot of cheap labor not be turned off. Obama is the only one that would go after the companies that hire them.
