At a town hall meeting in Richardson, Texas, Thursday afternoon, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., made a gaffe that will surely provide myriad conservative radio talk show hosts confirmation of their views, by accidentally calling himself a liberal.

"I will conduct a respectful debate," McCain told the crowd at Texas Instruments, per ABC News' Bret Hovell. "Now, it will be spirited because there are stark differences. I am a proud conservative, liberal Republica--- conservative Republican," he said, catching himself. "Hello?" he said as the crowd laughed. "Easy there."

Well, senile McCain is starting to look more and more like his hero Ronald Reagan; Unable to remember anything.

Barack Obama is qualified over John McCain on the basis of his superior judgment alone. Consider the following comparisons, quoted from "FAIR":
"In a pre-invasion interview on CNN (Late Edition, 11/29/02), McCain stated:
We're not going to get into house-to-house fighting in Baghdad. We may have to take out buildings, but we're not going to have a bloodletting of trading American bodies for Iraqi bodies.
He added, "I don't think it's, quote, 'easy,' but I believe that we can win an overwhelming victory in a very short period of time." On MSNBC (Hardball, 3/24/03), he stated that "we will be welcomed as liberators."
In contrast, Obama made a prominent speech around the same time (10/2/02) that now seems strikingly prescient:
But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of Al-Qaeda."
Some praise McCain and fault Obama on the issue of experience. No one had more experience than Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, and we know how that turned out.

The National Journal rated Senator Obama as the most liberal senator? Doesn't he mean National Review. Kind of wierd he would get the name of the magazine wrong when it has been discussed so frequently recently, in the context of Mr. Buckley's death.

"As you can see, my friends,my most ardent supporter here over my left shoulder...my friends"

Dont wake McLame or his supporter (1) until its mercifully over.

He will be evicreated in November, unless the vote can be suppressed, like, say, because there are not enough voting machines to accomodate the monster turnout expected.

I think you mean "eviscerated." I'm not so sure about that. Collectively, American voters are just big enough idiots to go for all his "my friends" shit, plus all the media crapola about McCain being a "war hero." (He wasn't, although he was awarded several major medals, mainly, one suspects, because McCain's father WAS a war hero, a famous admiral who served with considerable distinction in WWII.)

I saw bush boy last night get snippy saying that he hadn't heard of $4 gas.

This morning, I went to my local station and the price of diesel was $3.99 a gallon.

Bush Boy - touchy and out-of-touch.

My granddad start to forget and get mixed up right around the age that McCain is now. He spent his retirement years enjoying his grandkid, and going to the racetrack. McCain should consider doing the same.

I had a wonderful Grandfather who could never get the names of me and my brothers & sisters correct. He would just start at the top of the list until we said "that's it Grandpa"!

This reminds me of John McCain. My Grandfather (Bless his heart) would NOT have made a very good President.....neither will John "Bomb,Bomb,Bomb" McCain !

What happened to Cindy, now that Nader is in the race, who's 74 and makes McCain look younger, he no longer needs his young wife by his side?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:12 PM on 02/29/2008

You have got to fix your age radar. There is no way Nader makes Mccain look "young" no one can do that. Actually, I'm surprised to hear Nader is 74! He looks much younger to me.

I think it takes someone with a sense of humour like McCain's to quickly overcome a slip of the tongue like that. I believe his sense of humour and respect for people he disagress with are some of the strongest things about his candidancy.

I met him years ago and found my fellow vet to be very gracious. The guy does not come across like a an annoying pit bull and yes, he does have a sense of humor that reminds me of another conservative who had Democrats voting for him.

John McCain is not the honest straight shooter respectful character he appears, I watched some of the republican debates -- Romney and the others would have a different way of describing him I assure you.
