Once Oscar Couple

Fresh off their Oscar win for original song, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova have signed a music publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group.

Warner/Chappell will administer Hansard and Irglova's catalog of work, including songs written by Hansard as a member of the Frames; music from the duo's debut album, "The Swell Season"; and songs from the "Once" soundtrack, as well as their future compositions. They won the Oscar for "Falling Slowly."

Neither the duo, which has been booked as the Swell Season, nor the Frames have recording contracts. Hansard and Irglova will be touring the U.S. from late April through mid-June.

The movie was awesome. I think he is twice her age. His first movie performance was in the Commitments. I love these Irish performers, Glen Hansard, Damien Rice etc.

Loved their song.
Its not often that my pick matches the actual Oscar winner, but this time it happened.

Wow. It's about time this side of the pond took notice. Hansard's one of the good guys... one of those indie musicians who has stuck with it through thick and thin (mostly thin). He really, truly deserves success, and I'm glad he's finally getting it. And Marketa is, of course, great in her own right.

You're probably right... but hopefully the exposure will result in enough new people consistently buying their music that they'll be able to pay the rent for some time to come.

I tried to get the soundtrack to 'Once' a year ago, and since they kept flying off the shelves at our music stores, it took two months to get my hands on one.

It is good - all the way through.

If you get a chance to get the CD for 'Once', you will put it with the best of your collection.

The movie, same thing.

I'm happy they won. I think good things will come from this exposure for these talented musicians.
