Read up on UN Resolution 181.
Tell me where Israel attacked its neighbors.
You are either ignorant, or intentionally misinterpreting history, because you know it was the Arab armies who attacked Israel, not the other way around.

The Jewish Legion, a group of battalions composed primarily of Zionist volunteers, assisted in the British conquest of Israel.

Conquest as per dictionary definition.

Sheesh.

What does that have to do with 181?

The UK and her allies defeated the Ottoman Empire and gained its lands as "spoils" of war. How many centuries did the Ottomans have to generate a state for the dozens of ethnic minorities in the region? Did they do it?

BTW the same mandate essentially created the nations of SA, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, India, Pakistan, Kuwait, the UAE... If you think Israel is illegitimate, then so are all of the others!

As usual its how it started, see above just above I attached in the wrong place.

Good grief nobody would be talking about the existence of Israel without the Jewish legion and the Zionist movement.

The rode in on the backs of the British and then carried out a terrorist campaign to get rid of them.

It is illegitimate because it had a total disregard to the Palestinian majority on their own land.

Remember, the Palestinians didn't immigrate, it is the State of Israel that immigrated to Palestine. The Palestinians are merely the natural inhabitants of their land.

HuffPost shows it's bias by headlining Palestinians injured etc by the Israelies but when rockets are fired into Israel by Palesintinans, we get just a blurb. Israel is defending itself. You can only take so many attacks before you strike back and the Israelies should finish off Hamas once and for all. Palestinians have no business complaining if any of them get injured and others die. They overwhelmingly support the terrorist Hamas group. No one complains when Israelies are killed or are injured in Gaza. Gaza residents enjoy the daily bombardment. To say this is a "holocaust" is plainly stupid. It's just a way to gain sympathy from the rest of the world. We wouldn't stand for constant rocket attacks on our own territory and neither should the Israelies. They've held back for too long as it is, so now Gaza must suffer the consequences.

The Palestinians fired 30 of their homemade rockets and one of them killed an Israeli. The Israelies collectively punish the Palestinians and kill 20 of them including five children and a 6 month old baby!

A 6 month old baby is punished by Israel and dies of a shrapnel in its head.

Today, Israel continues its raid and kills 50 more Palestinians.

Do you know why the Palestinians are retaliating in the first place? The Gaza Strip is the Warsaw Ghetto of our time. I wouldn't be surprised if ovens are being built as we speak.

You do appreciate the difference between a military action that has accidental civilian casualties, and a terrorist act that has intentional civilian casualties, right?

Actually, the Palestinians reported the 1 year old baby (not 6 months) was killed when the house he was in was hit by a stray rocket fired by the Palestinians from within Gaza.

Watch closely. I am going to win the first Nobel Peace Prize ever awarded for an internet post. Attend:

Palestinians, stop launching rockets into Israel and you will have peace!

Whew! Sure, it was long, hard 11 words, but that Nobel Prize will look great on the mantle.

THIS IS EASY TO SAY, I KNOW...

But it's unfortunate that the Arabs don't have a tradition of nonviolent resistance. Simply passively stopping attacks on Israel probably wouldn't accomplish much but Ghandian-style nonviolent RESISTANCE would have the whole world on the Palestinians' side in a New York minute. However, the Koran is not a document that inspires non-violent resistance. As I said, this is all easy to say, we're not there....

Apartheid bullshit. Palestinians, when ruled by Arafat, had a chance to get back 95% or more of the land and turned it down and you think there's going to be an end to this? Hamas is not our friend nor a friend of anything close to a group desiring democracy or living in peace with Israel. They want ALL of Israel and the killing will continue. Hamas is a terrorist group and too many here at HuffPost speak of them as if they're a benign entity when in fact they're a malignant force. After all the daily rocket attacks on Israel I have no sympathy any more for Palestinians. They deserve what they get.

Steamboater, Why can't the Palestinians get 100% of their land back? They already out-populate the Israelies and total 9 million worldwide?

Anyways, your wrong, they weren't offered 95%, not even close, thats just a common misconception by the AIPAC machines back then, if you read up on the Clinton Camp David Summit, you will learn that what was proposed to the Palestinians was not realistic and even Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben Ami said no one in their right minds would have accepted it. It was something around 60%.

Steamboater, I'm sure the Palestinian people as a whole would have taken that deal, unfortunately, they had a crazy man in charge (kinda like us). The only innocents in this situation are the civilians just wanting to live their lives in peace. I'm sorry, but you're wrong, the Palestinian people don't deserve what they are getting anymore than the Israeli people. Hamas is also providing sustenance to the Palestinians to keep them indebted to them. It is all very complicated and sad.

You're antisemitic

And if all above don't curtail any negative comments about Israel, the critic of Israeli policy is the assassinated

Sad that the same hatred that keeps the middle east in flames is shown here by commentors. I visited Israel and Jordan during the Bill Clinton years, when there was a rare moment of peace. The Israelis are the only middle east country to allow Palestinians jobs, But the Israelis persist in their stupid illegal settlements without legal condemnation and using bulldozers, because the Torah tells them it's their land. As soon as the Israelis leave the gaza. The Palestinians begin rocket attacks which Israel rightfully counter attacks. IslamoFascism Crusader Tyrant Bush encourages the worst in the Israelis, and frightens and fanaticizes the Palestinians.

Solutions: remove all illegal settlements, stop the damn rocket attacks.

Beyond that? Non-lethal weapons, get the neighboring Arab countries to help the Palestinians live well, instead of helping them hate Israelis. A lot more talking and diplomacy specially with enemies. End the Rapture Bush Crusades.

I really liked the Israelis and the Arabs that I met.

Please my friends, find peace.

It's quite Ironic what happened in Kuwait. Yasser Arafat stupidly supported Saddam in his bid to take over Kuwait, which is basically an American colony. The Kuwaiti's were such cowards, they all ran away, including their military, when the Iraqi's invaded. The poor Palestinians who were left were some of the only people who actually stayed and defended Kuwait. Then after the US kicked the Iraqi's out, the Kuwaiti's ran back home and started killing the Palestinians, and deporting them.

Dear "VogonsCryptolect",
Your attempt to use the Socratic method of discourse was interesting at first, but the premise of that format is that the initiator has an advanced level of knowledge and imparts that through rigorous debate. Unfortunately, after scanning your posts, all I have found is that you have summarily dismissed the facts proferred by other posters without providing any rebuttal evidence, you have mocked to Nobel Prize winners who are national and international heroes, and you have personally attacked every individual poster that you have commented on - do you actually possess any knowledge base or analysis on this topic or are you merely here because nothing interesting is on the FOX channel?

I seldom watch television and even less for news.

Sadat and Begin were in fact terrorists of the first order, perhaps you need to brush up on history.

Just because an old terrorist becomes weary of killing and tells the world he is at peace with God and his adversary he does not become a hero or peacemaker.

The format here does not lend itself to lengthy dissertation and response since it usually is off the page before it can be written.

If you spent time here you would know that I frequently offer lengthy well reasoned arguments and rebuttals which are met not with counter argument but with slander and idiocy.

Nonetheless I do still try from time to time.

If Fume is the individual to whom you refer, he is one of the most emotional unreasoned posters at this site who frequently resorts to silliness when he is challenged on his positions and rhetoric.

His posts are logically inconsistent and frequently rely on remarkabley un-Hume-like arguments of extension based on the smallest data sample he can find to demonstrate the veracity of his preconceived unscientific notions.

Please accept my apologies for an improper conclusion. I agree wholeheartedly with you that the level of discourse in America needs to be raised to the level of that found in the advanced western nations. Perhaps, we can do something about that starting today.
