Several nights this past week David Letterman riffed on various presidential candidates. Both Wednesday and Thursday he did a few minutes monologue that alternated between Ralph Nader and John McCain "he looks like the kind of guy who..." jokes. Condensed for easy viewing, here are Letterman's funniest McCain jokes from those monologues. (ex. "McCain looks like the kind of guy who spends all day in the coffee shop of a municipal golf course.")

John McCain seems like the kind of guy who bombs Iraq again and blames it on Alzheimers'.
John McCain seems like the kind of guy who takes home the dementia-vote.
John McCain seems like the kind of guy who gets busted with Anna Nicole Smith and a cigar in the oval office.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE DAMN HAGEE-MCCAIN ENDORSEMENT STORY ON HUFFPO?...

This is the only McCain thread I could find here today. Unlike the McCain-Lobbyist scandal of a couple of weeks ago, this one actually looks like the mainstream media may pick it up and run with it. There was even an AP headlined story on Yahoo about this. Evidently, Catholics are making a big enough stink (and who can blame them?) about Hagee's anti-Catholic bigotry to counter the MSM's fear of evangelicals with their fear of alienating an even larger audience bloc. WOOHOO!

Those jokes are pretty harmless. McCain's age is getting much less play than Reagan's did in 1980. I doubt it will be a factor.

He hinted at an incursion into Germany over the weekend...

As an Independent -leaning towards Obama- I'm happy with McCain- because he really is the most liberal to moderate repub. they could have picked; I'm just weary over who they'll force upon him to pick as his V.P.

It's not McCain's age that's the problem; he's had the same war paint on for decades. the only way McCain can get elected is through the magic of DIEBOLT, or the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.

"Well, my friends........laugh it up all you want........but I'm still the best liberal republican......uh....oops... hellooooo........conservative republican running for the White House....."

This guy was a charicature of himself years ago - now he' s looking more like the republican's new version of "the village idiot"......LOL

Did a little research about MeetWealthyBoomer etc.
There's a hairy guy named Sclomo out of Israel that runs the site and plays the part of the women. Also, it's a proving ground for the very best and newest Russian viruses.

It's really important to create a visual and aural monicker for McCain.

I like "McW". It has the connotation of "Mc" as in "McDonalds", a lowering of quality to junk food status as in "McJobs", "McPolitics" etc. "W" is of course the most despised letter in the English language now. It implies the continuity of the Worlds Worst pResident. Put the two together and you have a nice short three letter combination that says it all.

Also, "McCrazy", "McInsane", nice homonym for his name. But they are clumsy to say and are disrespectful of the man.
Face it folks, of all the the candidates, he obviously has the most military experience, is probably the most patriotic of all of them and is a very decent individual, based on his public persona. However, the future of our country is at stake and so the best of the worst is the logical choice. Go Obama.

Take your time and pick a good nickname. You're going to be using it for at least four years.

Just can't get by the fact that -

"John McCain is the kinda guy who gets mugged by Rove and turns and hugs Bush."

Idiocracy

the dumbing down of America is accelerating under the GOP idiots bureaucracy. George Bush isn"t dumb enough, we need to keep the fools game going for another hundred years. Anyone childish enough to support Bush and his criminal henchman McCrazy at this stage of the take down are fools or mental midgets. Polite talk is only going to get you fucked again.

I think we should all start referring to McCain as McBush just to remind people that his policies are tied to the last 8 years. They want to use Obama's middle name to scare people well McBush should really scare the crap out of people.

MCain looks like the kind of guy who hates government , but had the Government pay for his education, his healthcare, the roof over his head and his food and has never had a JOB outside of the government.

McCain is the kind of guy who complains about Big Government but has been in the Senate while the deficit went from one trillion to ten trillion, 80% of that under Repug Presidents he supported. More than half by a Repug controlled congress and W.H.

McCain is the kind of guy who says Amercians are dumb and just need some job traing while 75% of those graduating in the sciences cant get a job in their chosen area..

Regards

I think you mean "debt" and not "deficit".

You're right about McCain spending his entire career on the government payroll. Shameless.

No true - McCain had a public relations job with his father in law after he left the navy - while waiting for a Congressional seat to open up. He traveled around Arizona talking up Bud and the virtues of John McCain (must have been before he met Keating).

Odd that the 62 yo David Letterman would be making age jokes about someone only nine years older than himself. Its Letterman who had a quintuple heart bypass not McCain.

Typical Dem move: ridicule a war hero while running Nurse Ratched and a black teenager for President.

Dear ignoramus troll #45435345324554677,

Without even going into the recent history of swiftboating, you apparently forget when GHWB derisively referred to Korean War fighter ace Sen. John Glenn as the "space man."

And your response is to immediately disparage, in the most childish manner, the Democratic Party front runners. I guess that one man's high ground is another man's peat bog.

It's ironic that you mention the Nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. How's that lobotomy working out for you?

Why not? George W. Bush and company ridiculed a war hero in 2000--make that (at least) two:

John McCain and Max Cleland while running a drug-using draft-dodging champaign National Guard coward (and not even serving his term there, because he went AWOL, because he couldn't pass his drug test to finish his million dollar flight training).

But I'm sure you'll agree, the bar of fairness and equity is much lower for Republicans. Whatever.

You'd have more credibility if you didn't exaggerate. Bush finished his flight training and flew domestic missions for several years. He had permission to skip the last few mos. No one went AWOL. National Guardsmen who are serving in Iraq would object to your denigration of the Guard.

I'm not familiar with the other stuff, but I know you're wrong about the TANG info. Don't make stuff up

And even if GWB DID make fun of a war hero, does that it make it ok for you to do so?.

Yes 62 year Old David letterman is wanting to lead a 320 million person country... NOT He tells jokes... does not send people into battle and blow a couple ot trillion of some one elses money or cause hundreds of thousands to die.

David knows about age as I do.... and I dont want a 72 year old who during his first term will be 75 to be running a country. A country that McCain has been helping guide to a tterrible situation. He is still yelling Free trade when after 35 years of Free trade the U.S. has gone from 33% MFG to just 6%. 3 million MFGs lost in the last 7 years. Real wages down. From huge trade surpluses to huge trade deficits. From largest creditor nation in the world to largest debtor nation and the American Dollar is being turned into a 3rd world currency. Yep pls give me more of the same that McCain wants to dish out like abother hundred years in Iraq!
Heck we cant even come up with a stimulus plan that does not do more good for communits china than america.. because we dont make anything but hamburgers!

Regards

I am pretty close to Letterman's age and I know quite a few people McCains age. I have been around a lot of older people in a health care setting. I don't care how fit you are. At 70 years old, people begin to have memory and concentration deficits. Even extremely bright people in excellent health. We have already seen some of the obvious signs in Senator McCain this early in the campaign. He may be able to serve as a fine Senator, but he is not mentally sharp enough to serve as President. Stress and fatigue will magnify his defeciencies.

Hey NoBrain, it was Bush and Karl Rove that disgraced a war hero in the 2000 South Carolina primary, remember the illegitimate child falsehood. A move done by his fellow republicans. How about you do some research before you say something stupid.
