The Swamp:

Democrat Hillary Clinton made it clear to reporters aboard her campaign plane today that in the final days of the Texas-Ohio delegate spectacular, her focus will remain on portraying herself as stronger than Barack Obama on national security.

Clinton, a New York senator, said now that voters know Sen. John McCain of Arizona is the presumed Republican presidential nominee, they also know what to expect from him--using the GOP playbook to focus on the national security issue. She said that's why she's brought it up, in her speeches and a controversial ad, and rejects any charges from the Obama camp that she's engaged in fear mongering.

This is the kind of stupid headline and photo that will divide the party and give the election to McCain. I swear, if Karl Rove wanted to wreck the Democrats chances of winning anything, he couldn't do better than to start HuffPo. Are we sure Arianna isn't a closet neocon?

Hillary gave such an eloquent statement during the Ohio debate about how she resoundingly rejected the anti-semetic remarks and support of some group who was backing her during her senate race in New York. She made such remarks in response to Obama's denounciation of persons who are anti-semetic and those who gave their support to him - I agree with both of them in "rejecting and denouncing" that type of support and discrimination. However, why did she not "reject and denounce" the vicious racists/bigoted insinuations, comments and/or discriminatory remarks that have been made by the "right wing" and others against Obama. She is such a hypocrite - She told the women to vote for her because she is a woman as opposed to because of the issues - she said this at the end of the Ohio debate - what is wrong with her - suppose Obama had said vote fore me because I am black - I am so disappointed in Hillary and Bill Clinton - they want to win at any cost - it's shameful - she's giving the Republicans all they're talking points - she has no regard for the democratic party given the way she is running her campaign -

Furthermore, did'nt she put ads out in Ohio saying she wanted the 20th debate and Obama would not debate her and did'nt she say "shame on you Obama" when he responded to her health plan versus his - she told him to meet her in Ohio for a debate - then got to the debate and complained/whined about being given the first questions - what is wrong with the lady - I am done with her - she has shamed herself so badly -

Yes, this fear mongering is another James Carville strategy. If Hillary gets the democratic nomination with less than 30% of the popular vote though, there will be consequences. And I hope Huffpo has done something about posters who include all that space within their text to get people off the first page.

Sen. Obama described the 3 a.m. red phone ad yesterday on the stump as both a "legitimate question to ask" and fearmongering that incites people to be afraid. Two diametrically opposed claims in one sentence. Here's another example of a contradiciton no one in the press bothers to ask about. He says on the one hand that he's going to fix a broken government and bring "change". Yet many of his fundraisers and strategists are from the Bush Administration. (Time published an article about this in November called "Obama's Red State Appeal". ) His speechwriter Ben Rhodes is the brother of Fox VP David Rhodes. (Fox is the Rupert Murdoch network associated with theG.O.P. and also featured in Fahrenheit 911 for its role in calling Florida for Bush in the 2000 election.) There is also Obama's familiar refrain that he couldn't wait longer than a year in the senate before running for president because he would have had all his hope "boiled and stewed" out of him by members of Congress. These "Washington insiders", he said, are "more interested in the next election than the generation". After insulting these legislators repeatedly in cities across America for the last three months, how is he expecting to bring them together to pass his proposals for health care, college tax credits, etc? Everything about this candidate makes you feel as though you'd just walked through the looking glass into another world. In this dreamy wonderland, experience and a record of accomplishment are not considered pros but cons. They're cons, alright, and it may be that people realize too late that they're being played for fools again - or rather Pavlov's dogs - just like the "weapons of mass destruction" campaign. The neoconservaties infiltrated the AARP before the Medicare vote, and they're infiltrating the Democratic primaries now, using the perfect disguise. Next time you feel all that Hillary hatred welling up inside you, ask yourself, where exactly did that intense emotion come from? If you'd like to know the answer, check out the article I've posted at thecityedition.com. Here's a direct address.

Yes, yes! The man who was elected President of the Hardard Law Review is certainly not in the same bush league as the woman who failed the DC bar exam. Anyone who thinks that suffers from the hollow head disease.
Yes, yes, that man who opposed the war is not in the same bush league with the woman who voted approval for his warmongering. Anyone who believes he is must believe in unexcelled veracity of The Onion Reports and Fox News.

This is a paid announcement for Kyl-Lieberman-McCain-Clinton and more of the same.

"Banks on Fearmongering..." There's an even handed headline for you!

How about, "Huffpost Banks on Obama". That would at least be the truth.

BTW, Hugo Chavez has moved tanks to the border with Columbia. Any word of the latest antics by Altin America's dictator on Huffpost? Of course not!
And how would President Obama deal with a Venezuela/Columbia war? How about if China invaded Taiwan? Pakistan/India war?

Be careful what you wish for, Obamanites! This greenhorn really and truly does have less experience than anyone who's run for president, maybe ever. That has to count for something! (If he HAD experience, you KNOW he would be saying "I HAVE EXPERIENCE!")

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:43 PM on 03/02/2008

Experience is one factor to consider, but it's not necessarily the answer to all our prayers. Dick Cheney has a pretty long resume: White House Chief of Staff, U.S. Representative, Secretary of Defense, assistant to the President (Ford) and now Vice President. Donald Rumsfeld was a four-term congressman, two-time Secretary of Defense, Ambassador to NATO, and officer in the Navy. Colin Powell was Chairman of the Joints Chiefs, National Security Advisor and Secretary of State. Condi Rice was a professor of political science at Stanford, Provost at Stanford, National Security Advisor and now Secretary of State. George W. Bush was two-term Governor of Texas, winning reelection with almost 70 percent of the vote. He has an MBA from Harvard University.
If experience was any predictor, these folks should have given us the most competent foreign policy in history. After all, they are some of the most experienced leaders of this generation.
So the next question is, what else, in addition to experience, is needed to lead the nation. I would offer vision, intelligence, problem-solving skills, judgment, the ability to build coalitions, a grasp of public policy issues, innovative thinking, humility, courage, a sense of humor, and strong core values.
Let's be fair and agree that no one will have all the perfect qualifications. But let's also be smart enough to look at the whole person and not overly simplify this issue. If experience is all that matters, then we might as well just swear in McCain this afternoon, because like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice and Bush, he's got a ton of experience.

It's 3 a.m. and the phone is ringing in the Whitehouse:
"Hello, this is Hillary. Do you know it is 3 o'clock in the morning? I've been up till midnight solving all the problems you should have taken care of. This better be important. Why are you calling me?"

"Madam President, I am calling to inform you that we just read a post on the internet that said that Iran may be developing WMD."

"Why do I always have to get the first call? Did you run it by the VP first? After all she is also getting paid (GIRL POWER). You should see if it is a problem she can deal with. Let her call me only if she cannot handle it. Besides I have already told you that the internet posters and the press hate me. They are all saying things to keep me up at night. Anyway I am going to solve this problem again. Remember the polls we took last week. It stated that most Americans hate Iran. So, this is an easy call and I know this will increase my favorability in the polls, and improve my reelection chances. So, bomb Iran. And Syria. Next question."

ObGyn--You're oh so right and very well put! Hillary IS all about favorability and bobbing and weaving in order to maneuver herself into a position of strength. Her behavior pre-New Hampshire begins to explain the outcome. For those who are passionate about reproductive rights for women and choice, check this out...

Lorna Brett Howard, former president of Chicago NOW has defected from Hillary's campaign and is now supporting Barack Obama. Reason? Hillary's blatant misrepresentation to New Hampshire voters at a Pro-Choice rally that Obama is weak on Choice...Take the time to check out this link...it is VERY important not only to show how Hillary will manipulate information relative to an issue that we care deeply about, but the ease with which she deceives.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVuMYKs8iJs

Pass it along...Hillary's "Strategy" has got to be stopped. Her naked ambition is appalling when it is blatantly at the expense of integrity. Women who are still voting for Hillary BECAUSE she is a woman, please take note!!

In 2004 ,while reluctantly stumping for John Kerry (if john had won, he would be the incumbent and Hillary could not have run in 2008:) William Jefferson Clinton made this observation about the Kerry and Bush campaigns.

""If one candidate's trying to scare you, and the other one's trying to get you to think; if one candidate's appealing to your fears, and the other one's appealing to your hopes; you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope," he said."

Bill came from a town called Hope (Arkansas) and "Hope" was the core piece of his first presidential election, but as always the shifting personal values and ethics of the Clintons, one day you're in and the next you're not!

I'm scared. The terrorists are going to break into my children's bedroom and kill them. Oh my God, I'm so afraid I can hardly breathe. Noooo!!! Please, somebody, anybody, save my children! My kids are innocent, I'm innocent. Don't let them kill us. Please, I'm begging you. What do you want. I'll give you anything, just don't let them kill my babies.

What?? Vote for Hillary? I don't want to. But if you promise to stay away from my children. If you promise to just stay in the middle east and not hurt us, I'll do anything you say.

I'm just so afraid.

I'm Hillary Clinton. And I approved this message.

then why even bother with the gross crap about Hillary ??
You all assume he's a winner ,so tell him to quit wasting all that money ,
and use it more wisely !! theres really no further need for him to campaign
and tell us about theSpeech he made about the war ,now is there ????

Bill Richardson said it well. This is not good for Democrats. It is not even honest. In spite of the scaremongering but otherwise contentless Clinton ad, Obama is well prepared. It is not the mark of a winning candidate that (s)he starts putting up negative ads. Richardson also said that the petty bickering and divisiveness now being inserted into the campaign is destructive, and that it should end Tuesday.

That is almost an endorsement of Obama, for he will have the delegate lead after Tuesday whatever happens in Texas and Ohio. Clinton could win those states but only narrowly. And that won't bring her up to Obama in delegates won. Earlier it was thought that these two would be strong Clinton states, and that was Hillary's firewall. If she won both big, she would be back with momentum. But the more people see of Barack, the better they like him, and the same cannot be said for Hillary. So the races in these states now are both close. Hillary's people (who like to talk about differences) keep saying that she has the Latino vote. But she lost it in the Potomac Primary states and Connecticut. As Richardson said, the Latinos are like the rest of Americans, worried about jobs, the economy, war, etc. It is time to put the divisions aside and start concentrating on what is right.
I believe that all people want justice, that all our great problems stem from injustice and that failure to address that is the downfall of us all.

The only way for this divisiveness to end is for Obama to win on Tuesday in Texas. Clinton can no longer win without creating a ton of trouble for herself. She can do Obama much harm by creating more ugliness in the campaign. In other words, she can now feed her ego and help McCain or she can pull back on the attacks and --- unless she wins both Texas and Ohio and by at least one by a big margin -- think of withdrawing after Tuesday.

But I don't believe that will happen.

Didi47, Richardson didn't say that divisiveness should end, or that Obama is ready to be president, or that the one with the most delegates wson in contested primary/caucusses should get the nomination or that continuing the pettiness was bad for the Party?

What the hell did he say then? My ears are old but until just now, I didn't know how bad they were.

Chris11, you aqre correct. Bill Richardson does not speak for all Latinos. As he said, thery are like the rest of Americans, and worried abouut a variety of things, and faar from being monolithic, havemany diverse views; nobody speaksd for all Latinos. Nor do tghey belong to anyone. And I doubt that he -- or anyone with any sense -- would say that they are any dumber than thre rest of Americans. As I recall, THEY did not vote for Bush. (Gore got 65% and Kerry 55% of their votes. How about your group?)
What Richardson implied about that issue is that we all make up one country. Or did you not hear him? He also said that he didn't think any endorsement of one politician for another worth much. Or didn't you hear that?

Not mentioned is that Obama won the Hispanic vote in several states!

But Obama has been working on the premise that we are one country and should seek unity; Hillary works in the old play one group against another style.

Foolish... This dialogue that the country is having is a good thing. Everybody, speak up.
Say your part and cast your vote.
And let the best (wo)man win.

If we don't talk about everything , and uncover ever vote and every deed, then we have failed....then we have lost our democracy. Come late summer, all will be forgiven.

We have short memories and by October, when the Republicans uncover the October surprise on the Dems, it won't matter who's the nominee.000000000000000000000000000000
Oh wait, yes it will. Again a bit of experience is handy when the reicht wing conspiracy comes after Obama or Hillary.
Hillary has already beat them. Several times.
