The Hillary Clinton Campaign released a video starring Jack Nicholson today. The spot consists of a statement from Nicholson along with him in character as The Joker, Col. Jessup (A Few Good Men), and Jake Gittes (Chinatown). Watch it:

The sticking point to this video is the last segment where Nicholson himself appears and says, "I am Jack Nicholson and I approve this message." This looks pretty authentic, not faked. Without that segment with Nicholson himself, you could say someone just cribbed this together from DVD clips (illegally of course). Whether that segment was pirated is another question. So the unanswered question is who released it: (1) Nicholson himself, (2) the Clinton campaign, or (3) some third party who is not revealing themselves, yet.
The other thing is, if this is an official campaign ad, isn't it supposed to be the candidate who says, "I am so-and-so and I approve this message"?
This is pretty weird stuff in a pretty weird campaign.
To make this weirder, when I went to the supermarket this morning, I saw a NY Post headline that said: Kenyans Tell Hill: Pay us with Cows for Obama Insult. Needless to say I did not buy the paper.

Yeah, the thing is, it WAS cribbed from old films. Then they added the "sort of" endorsement. I guess Jack was too busy that day to deliver a whole speech, which tells you a lot about the level of commitment. "Yes, if you only take up an hour of my time and I only have to say one sentence, I'll do it. Any more than that, and you have to pay my standard acting fee--twenty million. Have a nice day."
