Hillary

Saturday Night Live opened tonight with a fake presidential debate hosted by mock Brian Williams and Tim Russert. Williams and Russert were bored by healthcare and were overly nice to Obama, while Amy Poehler, as Hillary Clinton, played mildly indignant. After the debate, instead of the opening credits, there was an "Editorial Response." The real Senator Clinton, seated at a desk and wearing the same brown tweed as Poehler's Clinton, said how she loved the skit and was happy to be back in New York, if only for a few hours. Then Amy Poehler, still in character as the senator, joined Clinton at the desk. They chatted, during which time Clinton asked Poehler if she really laughed like Poehler's Clinton and asked for her earrings back. The New York Senator then said, "Live from New York it's Saturday night!"

Watch the editorial response:

More on the rest of the show from the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet:

Political satire contains an element of truth and in a cartoon, Obama was shown to be going to great lengths to prevent Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson from being seen campaigning for him. He is shown--remember this is a cartoon--meeting with Jackson in a broom closet before sending him off on a phoney diplomatic mission and putting a dog collar on Sharpton that zaps him if he gets to close to an Obama rally.

Giuliani dropped his presidential bid in January and has endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who has not been on SNL for years. Giulianiappeared on SNL's "Weekend Update" segment.

"I would have done things differently," Giuliani said.

Specifically, what asked Seth Meyers.

"I've given it a lot of thought and realize that my one key mistake was years ago when I hosted this show and wore a dress. I really wish I could have taken it back."

So his mistake was not bypassing the early primaries?

"The Florida plan was solid. But the dress killed me."

I thought Hillary did a good job with her lines.

It is amazing how the Democrats turn on their own.

The SNL bit was funny. And really folks has Hillary''s campaign done anything to equal the headlines in Cincinnati-'Obama Campaign Takes Turn For the Wurst' ? (link)

When was the phone ringing during her 35 years of experience in the middle of the night? All that
experience is crap in my eyes. It takes a true LEADER to make the right decision at the right time
and with a very capable and knowledge staff around I see no problem. Hillary is so desperate and
no we don't owe her the presidency!

And no we don't owe Obama a free ride into the White House just because he is young, black and inexperienced. No one in the media has challenged him the way they have Hillary. The Republicans won't be so kind. That nitwit who introduced McCain with a diatribe against Obama is just a tiny preview of the Swiftboating he will get right after Obama captures the nomination. Obama is peaking too soon and won't be able to overcome the combo of burnout and Swiftboating.

She has time to fly to NY and do a bit of sketch comedy but she can't make a copy of her tax returns? We're still waiting, Hillary.

If you are REALLY interested in Hillary's financial disclosures there are about thirty five of them on file - one for every year in the public limelight. Some from Bill being attny general in Arkansas, Gov. of Arkansas, White House years and 8 years in the US Senate. Do you care to explain how Michelle suddenly earned $500,000 a year after Obama got into the US Senate?

Did everyone miss Bill Richardson endorsing Barack Obama without actually saying so, the fact that the endorsement was so subtle, the mass will not pick it up and so there will be no positive effect for the Obama camp.

Isn't it about time Bill Clinton got his hand off Bill Richardson's balls.

Don't miss the latest Hillary campaign criminal attempts to disrupt the TX caucus voting - http://www.burntorangereport.com/ will also provide links to kos and to the original story in the Dallas Morning News. Well, if you can't win it honestly, our virtuous and feeling lady in waiting can certainly steal it. Pass this to those whose vote will count where she is running. Forewarned is forearmed, as the saying goes....

ON WED., MAR. 5th, ALL SUPERDELEGATES SHOULD DECIDE

SNL aside, assuming a "best case scenario", it appears that Hillary Clinton might conceivably win both Texas and Ohio. It is, however, also clear that she will not win these two states by the sort of margin that would reward her with the number of delegates that she needs to argue for a continued campaign. In fact, even if she were to win both of these states by a margin of 2 - 4%, her net gain in delegates would amount to four or five delegates. That's right, just a 4 or 5 delegate gain assuming that a best case scenario materializes. It is my hope and belief that should such an outcome materialize, that Hillary possesses the strength, character, and wisdom to put her personal ambition aside for the benefit of the country as a whole, and her party in particular, and withdraw from the campaign.

What should be of great concern to Democrats everywhere is that there has been rumor and talk in Clinton quarters that should she win both Texas and Ohio, even if it's by the slimmest of margins, that such an outcome would support a "narrative" for continuing her campaign all the way to the convention, even though such an outcome would not yield her the results to overtake Obama with the "elected or pledged delegates". To do so, she would have to win nearly 70% of all elected delegates in the remaining primaries. This, of course, means that, realistically, her only real strategy would then be to convince the superdelegates at the convention to vote for her nomination and not for Obama -- that she is better able to beat McCain and marshall the necessary forces to help her party defeat the full slate of Republicans in November.

In my opinion, such an approach would be the Democratic version of a DOOMSDAY policy insofar as it would only serve to alienate and disenfranchise all of the voters that Obama had worked so hard to engage and bring into the Democratic process. It would be so bitterly divisive, so utterly enervating, as to enable John McCain and the GOP (Greedy Obstructionist Party) the real opportunity to steal yet another election in November. Only in this case, the Democratic Party would only have itself to blame for allowing the theft to occur. By embracing such an approach, Hillary Clinton would effectively be "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" and all, ostensibly, for what? Some sense of personal entitlement or selfish desire to be our next president?

Should Hillary embrace this "scorched earth" policy, the country and the Democratic party would suffer immeasurably. She will have turned what could have been a historic victory of monumental proportion for Democrats everywhere and transform it into a gut-wrenching, bitter experience that would rip the very heart and soul from what would have been a wonderful moment in our collective history.

Again, I don't think Hillary would do this to our party and our chances for victory in November. I think she will voluntarily remove herself from the process to avoid this sort of self-inflicted pain. If, however, Hillary should continue to entertain some fanciful notion of victory at the nominating convention, I would urge all superdelegates to consult their conscience, recognizing the full weight and significance of their decision, and decide on Mar. 5th who their choice will be to represent the Democratic party this Fall. In my opinion, it is in our best interest to delay no further and settle on our nominee for president on Wednesday, March 5th.

I just saw on CNN that Hillary is in the lead in Ohio, can those people be that stupid?
It was the Clinton Administration that sent all those jobs to China and Mexico, with those trade deals.
Are they that young or maybe they are like the people who don't care about floods till the water gets in their door.
Bill said he was against NAFTA till he got elected, he is a lier, and he said with one, you get two, so they must have both been in on the decision to pass those treaties.
WAKE UP OHIO!

If David Shuster had said, "Chelsea's her mother's bitch now, but -- great campaign!" would it have been fine with Hillary?

I don't see why it's okay to call a woman (esp. one running for president) a "bitch".

If Obama had been the "favored one" on this show, and guested, and they used the word "bitch" about Hillary, she (and the media) would be bashing him (and SNL) for misogyny and everything else.

Why is it okay with her, as a feminist role model, to be called a "bitch" as long as it might win votes?

Hillary is in danger of becoming Mike Huckabee. Being that she is not going to win big or even win for that matter, on Tuesday, it is going to be mathematically improbable for her to overtake Obama on pledged delegates, States won, or popular vote. How she could justify continue going on after Tuesday is beyond me.

Hill-arious: Hillary's hard-hitting "Red Phone" ad has dramatic effect!

Senator Jay Rockefeller, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman, endorsed Obama Friday, right after the ad hit the airwaves:

http://www.msnbc.com

"As Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I am all too aware that the threats we face are unconventional. They are sophisticated. They are constantly changing and adapting. And they are very serious. What matters most in the Oval Office is sound judgment and decisive action. It's about getting it right on crucial national security questions the first time and every time."

"The indisputable fact is Barack Obama was right about Iraq when many of us were wrong. It was a tough call and the single greatest national security question, and mistake, of our time. Today, we remain a country at war, and countless mistakes over the last six and a half years have made us less safe. The stakes have never been higher, and that is why we must take a stand."

Rockefeller is a superdelegate, so Obama has gained a total of 5 more superdelegates Friday and two more on Saturday.

Most know that it's over if Obama wins OH and/or TX Tuesday and we have to be prepared, in the best interest of the party to respectfully start really arguing for a HRC withdrawal from the race.

We always knew when we did this we'd have to fight the Clinton campaign with its ever moving goalposts but the writing is on the wall that Fox News and the rest of the Right will also be pushing for the Dems to go all the way to August cause they know it's in their best interest.

We must be prepared for this fight...
