Marion Cotillard's 9/11 And Moon Landing Conspiracy Theories

Oscar-winning Marion Cotillard was facing embarrasment with her new American public last night after it emerged that she doubted the official account of the September 11 attacks. The 32-year-old French star has swept this year's best actress awards, also receiving a Bafta, Golden Globe and a César for her performance as singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose...

But the actress faces a potential backlash in the US over comments she made in an interview in France. Footage which surfaced on the internet showed her questioning the New York terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the 1969 moon landing.

"I think we're lied to about a number of things," she said, singling out September 11.

Referring to the two passenger jets flown into the World Trade Centre, Miss Cotillard said: "We see other towers of the same kind being hit by planes, are they burned? There was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, which burned for 24 hours.

It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there [New York], in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed."

Miss Cotillard suggested that the towers, planned in the early 1960s, were an outdated "money sucker" which would have cost so much to modernise that it was easier to destroy them.

Turning to America's space programme, she said: "Did a man really walk on the moon? I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered. And in any case I don't believe all they tell me, that's for sure."

Miss Cotillard, who was born and brought up in Paris, made the comments on Paris Première - Paris Dernière (Paris First - Paris Last), a programme first broadcast a year ago.

Why should there be a backlash about her comments on 9-11? It is about time that the citizens of this country wake up and realize that their own government is behind the towers coming down! The outrage should be that we all went along like sheep over the past 7 years. Steel buildings do not fall down in free fall speeds because of fires! Why was there no wreakage from the supposed plane that crashed into the pentagon? Building 7 wasen't hit by a plane--why did it fall? These and hundreds more question should have been asked in the last 7 years. When is a news organization in this country going to grow a backbone and investigate this administration?

We know more properly what didn't happen, that 3 modern steel framed buildings violated the laws of physics in collapsing at free fall speed after two of them were struck by aircraft; that the multi-trillion $ military of the US was suckered (again) and stood down while 4 hijacked aircraft piloted by morons incapable of passing their US sponsored flight schools flew across military base after military base without being intercepted in the manner that Payne Stewarts doomed wayward aircraft - and hundreds of others - were; that the single most important military structure was allowed to be attacked - as per the testimony of US Transportation Secy Norman Mineta before the 9/11 Commission (and omitted from its report) and so many more anomalies and inconsistencies.

Why should anyone be embarrassed about having doubts relating to the Official Story of the murders of September 11, 2001?

I had a Catholic Priest in the Philippines ask me if I thought the Bush Administration was behind the attacks.

There are still more questions than answers relating to this topic, so Marion Cotillard isn't alone in her doubts or speculation.

Interesting that this is a hot topic of conversation virtually everywhere OUTSIDE the US. The French, Italian, German and Japanese governments are even getting involved in the questioning.

Whatever happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave? From where I'm sitting its looking a more and more like the land of the police state and the home of the fear-governed.

ANYONE who takes a look at ANY of the objective evidence from 9/11 with anything remotely like an open mind has to come away thinking... "This smells fishy". Check out WT7 for example - its collapse was announced on the BBC half an hour BEFORE it happened! Sheesh!

Its a sad irony that the french, who everyone loves to hate, are doing more for the US citizens freedom than the average US citizen.

Maybe its poetic justice for all the CIA orchestrated slaughtering over the last 50 years. I dunno.

It's refreshing to see beauty and brains. It's healthy to always question what you're told, to have a healthy skepticism. As usual though, the american media is quick to criticize those who " don't go along". If I were her, I would not confess or apologize to anything. I would simply say " I'm skeptical". That's all. We are all free to have our own thoughts and opinions. I know the corporate types and the media go crazed with rage at the preposterous idea of independence especially with their mantra of "since I made you, I can UNmake you". HA! What we're seeing here is simply the difference between education systems in France and the US. French students graduate from their equivalent of high school (1 year younger than Americans) with a far greater capacity for critical thought. Cotillard sounds typical for French people of her generation. In contrast, the average American of her age and educational background (think Brittany Spears), hasn't even the most rudimentary ability for independent thought. Their thinking is confined to issues involving their own day to day life, and nothing else. And even that is straining their capacity (think Brittany Spears again).

You are right she is just an actress. I have noticed that the French can't stand it when the americans are trend setters. They don't want people in their country to speak american, or even have our movies. They can't stand that america is better at what we do best. WE HAVE PUT MAN ON THE MOON. It doesn't matter what the French think. Heck they didn't even invent French fries. I have been to France and I couldn't wait to leave. It is a dirty, and the people are rude.
