Obama Mocks Clinton Mocking Him
Last Sunday, Hillary Clinton "stood in the rec center at Rhode Island College and mocked fellow presidential candidate Barack Obama for his campaign's theme of hope, saying Obama can't just 'wave a magic wand and have the special interests disappear.'" [Watch video of Clinton here.] On Saturday, Obama took the same stage and couldn't resist bringing up her comments. CNN describes the scene:

"I think she was here, right?" Obama said toward the end of his stump speech. "She was saying 'Oh, you know, he thinks that the clouds will part and... [that] he's so naïve.'"

The room quickly erupted in "boos."

"Wait, wait, wait," he said.

"He thinks he can wave a magic wand," he continued, mocking Clinton's impression, "and suddenly everything will be great."

Obama then went in to his standard stump lines, saying it's true he "talks about hope a lot." He then defended his rationale in doing so.

Watch it:

HarisB, I guess you're giving us a preview of the mud the Republicans will be slinging. I hope it sticks to them, as it should.

Obama really counterpunched today... "What exactly is all this foreign policy experience YOU are claiming, Hillary?" in so many words....

As part of her foreign policy experience, does Hillary count the Clinton Administration’s failure to intervene in the Rwanda – the worst genocide since the Nazis killed 6 million Jews in WWII?
“As the terror in Rwanda had unfolded, Clinton had shown virtually no interest in stopping the genocide, and his Administration had stood by as the death toll rose into the hundreds of thousands.” Atlantic Monthly, Sept. 2001.
Or paraphrasing a NY Times, June 10, 1994, article: The Clinton Administration’s response to rising pressures to stop the mass killings was to instruct its spokesmen not to describe the deaths as genocide…This despite solid evidence from the UN secretary general and other experts of the deliberate slaughter of 400,000 of the minority Tutsi ethnic group…This in violation of the 1948 Genocide Convention, which required the U.S. and other signers to respond to genocide by investigating and punishing the perpetrators.
Is this the kind of president we want on the red phone when it rings at 3 a.m.?

Bill Richardson to endorse Obama?! Seems likely!

From his interview on "Face the Nation" today:

"I think after Tuesday, we as a party nationally -- voters, leaders -- have got to see whether it makes sense to continue a very divisive primary between now and Pennsylvania, and then the convention.. .
I just think the D-Day is Tuesday. We have to have a positive campaign after Tuesday. Whoever has the most delegates after Tuesday, a clear lead, should be in my judgment the nominee."

... and according to the polling data in Ohio and Texas, that will be Barack Obama, by over 100 delegates!

It's hope vs. gloom, I guess. And McCain has already accepted the losing mantle of gloom from the Clinton campaign, attacking hope like it were the fourth rogue state in the Axis of Evil.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:23 PM on 03/02/2008

If you hadn't noticed, they're bringing him into the mix and not Hilary. They have been taking snippets of his responses from debates and on the campaign trail and are actively trying to attack his message of change, particular as it relates to changing our foreign policy. They're dreaming if they think we're going to elect the OLDEST president in US history who has been serving for the decades in the Senate and is advocating following in the steps of a President with a 30% approval rating. IT AIN"T GOING TO HAPPEN, but it should make for good TV.

You're the dreamer if you thing far right conservatives will vote for Barack Obama.

How is it living in the Twilight Zone?

Right you are. And he is losing many Dems from the left side and right side of party who see him as ripping the party apart because his amateurish supporters have no manners or class...just endlessly trash every one and end up alienating people from him...countless longstanding progressive Dems I know are saying enough and going to vote for McCain, despite their misgivings about his positions, just because they know Obama just doesn't have the wherewithal to be President with the world the way it is, and if he can act this way towards an opponent, then his arrogance will transcend his dealings with many. The Obamabots have set us up for a disastrous defeat...America says no to Obama, loud and clear, and it is getting stronger every day.

Listen to the mocking bird, listen to the mocking bird!!

Its all theatrics. I think we all know that most of what they say is just to get elected. And like so often happens, promises are instantly reneged on as soon as the votes are confirmed. I give Pelosi as a perfect example.

And why the 15 24/7 censorship at Hufpo now? Is Huffpo joining corporate media in controlling what is allowed ? Only approved statements that agree with the views of the owner of this blog will be allowed?
Sounds like Arianna is learning from Karl Rove.

I just heard an interesting thing. The GOP is currently sending registered letters out to known homes of single solders currently serving in Iraq. Many of the letters are returned because no one is there to accept the letters. Then they are using the letters as proof in arguing voter fraud because if no one accepted the letters, then no one must live their by that name, and a vote from that address with that name must be fraud. Even though its legal to vote over seas while your fighting in Iraq, the election boards really dont have the means or finances to investigate every single claim. So they are letting the GOP have their way.

It worked for them before, the returned letters trick.

Same old underhanded tactics, and they will most likely get away with them AGAIN!

This administration and the GOP are like Teflon. Nothing ever sticks and they think they are invincible. (So far they have been right.)

Just like NO investigation into why Obama received ZERO votes in six precincts in New York.

Bad move on Hillary's part. Making fun of hope is not a very good winning strategy. Go Obama! Thanks for giving us reasons to HOPE again!

She's not making fun of HOPE. She's pointing out that ain't no way the republicans will allow unification. In other words........Obama is being a little naive. Although I must say I like Obama. It's just a little naive. And just wait until he is President........the shit is going to hit the fan on him just like it did the Clintons.

Puh-lease get back to gazing in lstart-struck awe at your Queen Hilary and let us focus on winning back our country from the crooks.

I agree. Also the Obamabots need to ask this one question. How could a man who was so broke w/all his credit cards maxed out be able to afford an almost TWO MILLION DOLLAR HOME?
Obama is a George Bush redux with the gift of gab.
