Times Online:

AS Barack Obama enters the final stages of the fight for the Democratic presidential nomination, he is preparing to detach the core voters of John McCain, the likely Republican nominee, with the same ruthless determination with which he has peeled off Hillary Clinton's supporters.

The scene is set for a tussle between the two candidates for the support of some of the sharpest and most independent minds in politics. Obama is hoping to appoint cross-party figures to his cabinet such as Chuck Hagel, the Republican senator for Nebraska and an opponent of the Iraq war, and Richard Lugar, leader of the Republicans on the Senate foreign relations committee.

Great idea, Barack. Let's work together. I also like other things from the article besides appointing some Republicans

What's even more interesting than the idea is the timing. Just when you think Obama's momentum might be starting to drag just a bit, he pulls this out of his back pocket. The guy knows what he's doing.

If memory serves, Bill Clinton picked at least one Republican for his cabinet. If you find someone from the other party who's truly qualified, it's a wise move politically.

Obama says he wants to concentrate on getting this done, not rehash all the old party feuds. Good for him, I say.

If you prefer the fight the same old useless battles again and again, vote for Hillary. I'm sure the Rethugs are gearing up a new special prosecutor for another impeachment fight.

well, I don't know how true that is.

From everything I have heard Senator Clinton gets high marks for working hard to bring the sides together on the committees she is on. Even a couple of the pundits manage to slip that in. They murmur it with a "to be fair" after they say how polarizing she is.

The whole thing is so odd.

What I find interesting is how many of those who consistently criticize, attack, smear, sneer at and hate the Republicans... (and its pretty hard not) to,) also tend to equate Hillary Clinton with the Republicans in their many insults and rants.

I would imagine if Hillary said she was going to nominate Republicans for the cabinet there would be mass outrage and some wildly over the top accusations on HuffPo.

Can you imagine?
It is so interesting and so odd, this phenomenon.

Okay, yet again back to "but, but, Clinton", even from the Dems. Do any of you folks have or show loyalty to a man that left office with a 76% approval rating, even with all the mud they kept slinging at him?

That point aside, if Hillary said she was going to hire Repubs in her cabinet, this place would be ablaze with the bashing.

Hiring repubs - yeah, they've surely helped us out over the last few years. Aside from that reality, the thought of Hagel coming near a Democratic presidency is pure lunacy.

Let's just hope BO keeps allowing us to actually see what he's up rather than continuing with the same speeches.

And remember folks, it ain't over yet.

George Bush, Rethuglican, had Norm Mineta, Democrat from CA, as his Sec't. Of Transportation.

William Clinton, Democrat, had William Cohen, Republican from Maine, as his Sec't of Defense.

I would depend on which Republican Hillary named. Right now I can only think of Hagel. Maybe if she said someone like Olympia Snowe—although her voting record can be problematic. But what if she said Lincoln Chafee? I'd welcome somone like that.

BTW, Obama said this last fall. He mentioned Swarzneggar, Hagel and Lugar as Republicans that he'd like to have in his cabinet.

KKKarl Rove chimes in that Hillary should stay in race not matter what.

"But Karl Rove, the former senior political adviser to President Bush and architect of his presidential election victories, said such calls from Democrats for Mrs. Clinton’s withdrawal were unwise and unbecoming.

“I think it’s a mistake for his campaign to be calling for her to drop out,” Mr. Rove said on Fox. That would be seen as “rubbing her nose” in the fact that she is trailing, he said. “It’s up to the delegates at the convention to decide who wins and loses,” he added."

If KKKarl Rove knows that Hillary is only hurting the Democrats at this point why doesn't Hillary's supporters.

There was this guy who came down to New York from Boston and was mugged and robbed by a bunch of guys. They tore his clothes, robbed him of his coat, injured him and left him half dead. And by chance a very progressive environmentalist saw him as he lay there and crossed over to the other side of the street. Similarly a journalist went by, but also passed quickly along. But then a Republican who worked on Wall Street was rushing to work, and saw this guy lying in the bushes and felt sorry for him.
So he went over to him and took a look at his injuries, and called 911 on his cell phone. After the ambulance arrived, he persuaded the paramedic to let him ride with the injured man and he talked to him during the trip when he could, trying to lift his spirits. Later at the hospital he gave the administrators his name and contact information and declared that he would pay in full the injuried man's medical expenses, and said to them, "This guy's really been through a lot. Make sure you take care of him, and call me if I can be of any help at all."
Now which of these persons do you think was a neighbor to the man who was mugged?
Who understands the meaning of this parable?

Well, it's not a parable - a parable is a story that could possibly be true.

I had wanted to respond to a post that HumeSkeptic had made about Bill Richardson

saying he thought that after Tuesday, we should have a candidate and concentrate on

John McBomb and the fascist rethugs. Well that isn't a direct quote but the gist is right.

I was pretty sure that Bill C. had been sitting on Bill R. over the Super Bowl weekend!!
