Senator Hillary Clinton's campaign raised the fear ante when it started running an ad over the weekend in Texas that asked who you would like to answer the "red phone" in the White House at 3 AM when there is a crisis?

You can watch it here.

Senator Clinton, in one of the debates, accused Senator Barack Obama of "xeroxing speeches." She further insisted that it was an important issue because it got to the "heart" of Obama's campaign.

So, we were a bit taken aback when BuzzFlash readers alerted us to a pro-John McCain video that has been reportedly been on YouTube since January (the indicated date of posting is January 6). The video, apparently posted by a YouTube subscriber, asks the same question about John McCain as is asked in the Clinton "red phone" ad. In fact, it posits the same question at the same time: 3 AM. Now that's quite a coincidence.

You can watch the January YouTube posted video about John McCain answering the WH presidential phone at 3 AM in the morning in response to a crisis here.

The headline should actually be YouTuber rips off original Mondale ad.

There is news HuffPo...and there is CREATING news. Please learn the difference.

Meh this is really a none issue. Everyone knew this was an ad taken from the Mondale campaign and from the person that had written the original ad. I don't think it matters much since unlike Sen. Obama, people do expect Sen. Clinton to be calculating and less original in her tactics. However, I find it odd that somebody would want to run an ad that gets them compared to Walter Mondale considering what a wonderful general election that was.

So why isnt this on CNN, MSNBC , FUX-U fair and unbalanced NEWS, and why isnt Obamas team pushing this?
After all, she was very quick to trash him on using words that his friend told him to go ahead and use.
While she used a commercial which was already done by someone she probably never met or even talked to. To me, this is 20 times or plagiarism than having your friend tell you to use part of his speach because he wants to help you out.

of course , Im pretty sure this is the last time anyone will hear or see this, even here on Hufpo.

Was the Hillary Clinton 3 AM White House "Red Phone" Ad "Xeroxed" from You Tube and a 1984 Mondale Ad?

And the McCain ad

How much does it hurt a brilliant, high-achieving woman to see another brilliant, high-achieving woman reach the pinacle? Apparently, it hurts worse than being called fat. It creates quite a spectacle.

Tax returns are even easier to Xerox than TV ads.

How about it, Hillary Clinton? Let's see those tax returns!

Oh yes it was. It's very clear that it was.

Is this really a big deal? Only because Hillary Clinton has made it one.

More Hillary bashing by the Obama Post. Do you guys ever get tired of this onesided reporting?

Wait, so you are saying that stating the facts is bashing? Wow ... just ... wow

In what reality do "revealing the facts" = "bashing"?

Bdddddgggg, bdddddgggg, bdddddggggggg, bdddddddggggg, "HELLO", WTF took you so long to answer the phone?

Oh, grow up! Mondale used the same ad against Hart some time in the last century. I think they even used the same time (3 a.m.).

If candidates are going to be shot at dawn for reusing old ads that seemed to produce the desired effect, there's going to be nobody left in either party to run.

Actually - no time is announced in the old ad ... They don't even talk about it being night or day ... just a phone ... flashing ...

"The most awesome, powerful responsibility in the world lies in the hand that picks up this phone. The idea of an unsure, unsteady, untested hand is something to really think about. This is the issues of our times. On March 20, vote as if the future of the world is at stake. Mondale. This president will know what he's doing, and that's the difference between Gary Hart and Walter Mondale."

Thanks...I guess memory plays tricks after all those years. I'd have sworn a time was mentioned.

Hillary's probably never had an original thought in her whole fucking life, so, yes, it was stolen.

Obama has all of the original ideas. You are nothing but a damn idiot with all of the personal attacks.

And you have? LOL. Please tell us all what you have done for this country in your life. I'm guess not much.

No doubt his impact has been much less destructive though.

Let's not forget - Hillary Clinton:

1. Voted FOR the Iraq War AUMF without even bothering to read the NIE.

2. Pushed FOR the ratification of NAFTA, exporting 10's of thousands of good jobs.

3. Voted FOR the terrible bankruptcy bill that brutally punishes Americans that accidentally get into too much debt.

4. Voted FOR the neocon Kyl-Lieberman amendment, that gives Chimpie the green light to attack Iran at a time of his choosing.

Most "ordinary" Americans have not willfully inflicted damage on our country. Hillary Clinton has.

If Hilary were to win this argument in the primary, then she

would surely lose it in the general election.

We had all better hope that the American people would rather have a wise

person answering that phone rather than a merely experienced person.

Any country that is totally dependent on a groggy sleep deprived bleary eyed politician awakened at 3:00 AM for their salvation is in big big trouble.

Stop Billary now. They are a corrupt and deceitful couple, so used to lying they cannot tell the difference between truth and lies. We need change; real change we can believe in, not gimmicks as the Clintons promise.

I really am embarrassed for her campaign at this point.

Xeroxing from the Neo Rethug playbook is pretty pathetic

By the time the "Red Phone" rings to disturb the President in a crisis, all the relevant advisors will have been assembled for the briefing. Intel moves UP the chain of command. The ad implies a scenario as rare as the "Ticking Bomb" interrogation. Only happens in the movies, folks.
