Yesterday Bill Richardson gave an interview that has gotten a bunch of attention already, because in it he said that Dems should coalesce behind the candidate with the "clear lead" after tomorrow's voting....

...He was outspoken in his criticism of Clinton's new "ringing phone" ad, which suggests that Obama is not ready to become commander in chief. "I happen to disagree with that ad that says that Senator Obama is not ready," he said. "He is ready. He has great judgment, an internationalist background."

Dear Gov. Richardson,

Two major appointments in the Clinton Adminstration which inarguably have beget your charmed political career, and this is your response !!! Where's your sense of loyalty and decency ???

You are willing to sell out your long-time friends just to become VP ??? I do hope you will endorse Senator Obama who I hope will win the nomination but won't pick you as a his running mate. I predict that any clout and respects you've earned within the Democratic party will also be wiped out going award as you have been exposed as a political opportunist, and nothing more. Karma is a bitch, sir !!!

I used to like you but no more !!!

Jon from Cali

Hey people, lighten up. Bill Richardson is not obligated to endorse Obama (though I wish he would). He has already done a very good thing with his refusal to endorse Hillary. The thing that we all need to recognize is that many Democrats (including lots of voters) started out with the Clintons. However, as the campaign unfolds, and we all get a chance to see the Clinton team in action (getting uglier by the second), many are deciding that loyalty to this family trumps neither loyalty to party nor country. It's just taking some a little longer than others to forsake personal loyalty (which generally is a pretty good quality) in favor of the bigger picture

Richardson took the coward's road and deserves a cowards welcome. His 'I'm above it all' attitude is laughable. Anyone care to look into Richardson's personal betrayals? Bad as the Clintons.

He can keep his 'opinions' to himself, shove his 'endorsement' up his....sleeve?

Obama tried to run a decent and inspiring campaign. He never attacked the Clintons on any of the decades of dirty, indictments and betrays-never once. The support Hillary has received from 'supporters' and the media has demonstrated that Republican Rovian techniques work on a certain % of Americans. These Americans, Dem or Rep should be ashamed, but they are not. Win at all costs.

My hope is Obama wins or looses with integrity and decency.

Mr. Richardson I gave you way too much credit. Its clear you are just kissing butt so Obama will give you some position should he be elected. I really thought you had more guts than that. Hillary give it EVERYTHING you have to go after Obama.

Richardson has has weeks to speak up, he had this w/e to speak up and gave that limp, weak scolding to both of them.

He needs to keep his mouth shut now. Live with his mistakes and watch how he and others could have helped to turn this country around.

Now he gets to watch at what happens when 'good men do nothing'. We all know what happens. He sat back and watched the Clintons wage the filthiest campaign seen since Bush went after Gore.
We have never seen a Democrat go after a Democrat in the way the Clintons have. Its been truly disheartening to watch them and to watch Democratic Americans buy into it.

Richardson needs to keep his mouth shut. He never stood up when it took some courage to do so and shut the Clintons Rove Machine down. Now he needs to live with it.

I've always respected Gov. Richardson's judgment -- even supported him when he's run for prez in the past -- so, this is just more of his common sense approach to the very tricky problem of, what do you do when two, determined old fools hijack a political party and use it as their vehicle to satisfy their selfish whims?

I hope Gov. R's opinion prevails among the leadership of the Dem Party, otherwise, they can kiss their asses goodbye in November. Ain't no way voters are going to give Bill a third term!

How is that a tricky problem for someone with judgment and common sense? He either has good judgment or he is a selfish opportunist.

Richardson had his opportunity to do something good. He caved to Clitnon pressure and bribes. He now needs to sit back, keep his large and useless mouth shut and watch what his judgment and common sense has enabled.

Way to go Richardson.

Clinton doesn't understand winning through losing and losing by winning. Her nasty attacks are embittering the party. At this stage, even if she somehow wins the nomination, she will do so by splitting the party. It will give McCain the White House and dramatically reduce Democratic gains in Congress. It would destroy her hopes for any political future and make about 1/3 of the party despise her more than they despise Ralph Nader.

Clinton doesn't understand that a nomination is not a "win at all costs" affair. If you cannot unite the party behind you, you have won a worthless prize and set yourself for humiliation in the fall and ignominy in the future. Just ask Hubert Humphrey.

very happy to hear about Richardson's criticism of billary . .. .. the clintons are too ambitious to regain the WH to listen I suspect . . . it is time the voters today put them in their place by giving Obama 15 straight wins . .. .

Speaking of experience to deal with crisis - I'm surprised this tidbit hasn't gotten more media attention.

It was, in this reporter's opinion, the most interesting moment in today's Clinton campaign phoner with reporters. Responding to the release of HRC's new TX TV ad, which asserts in no subtle terms that only she has the experience to deal with a major world crisis, and, relatedly, to keep your children safe, Slate's John Dickerson asked the obvious question:

"What foreign policy moment would you point to in Hillary's career where she's been tested by crisis?" he said.

Silence on the call. You could've knit a sweater in the time it took the usually verbose team of Mark Penn, Howard Wolfson and Lee Feinstein, Clinton's national security director, to find a cogent answer. And what they came up with was weak -- that she's been endorsed by many high ranking members of the uniformed military.

Richardson is right. All this mudslinging politics is only hurting the party. It is time to stop the mudslinging.

Unlike her supporters, or Hillary herself, Richardson is smart enough to realize she's done.

If Hillary doesn't win both Texas and Ohio by decent margins, expect the endorsements to start rollin' in.

I am soooooooooo tired of this fear mongering politics. Hillary should be ashamed of using the tactics of Republicans. American people are just done with it. This kind of politics is sooooooooo over.

If Clinton is going to act like Karl Rove, then why bother calling herself a Democrat?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:32 AM on 03/04/2008

She is not a Democrat. She is a Bush/Rove Republican. Her votes, her lies, her manipulation, her dirty background, her willingness to destroy the Dem Party for the 2nd time-she is a Republican through and through.

Can't believe anyone, no matter how intellectually impoverished a person is, could but into her tactics. Its a mystery.

I have always liked Bill Richardson, but he does have a tendency to say too much at times. It's clear to me that he wants to back Obama, but doesn't have the guts yet to do it. He reminds me of Clyburn in SC who claimed to be neutral and then kept going on tv to slam the Clintons. If he supports Obama he should say so and stop trying to pretend he is neutral. That said, I he is a fairweather friend. He seemed very pro-Hillary when she was ahead in the polls and didn't seem too impressed by Obama. It will be interesting to see what he does should Sen. Clinton make a comeback. I think he's lost his VP chances with his recent comments.

Adrianna Huffington:

As someone who was swindled by the California referendum in 2002, you or one of your "15 real-humans 24/7; approved comments are published to our site very quickly, but not always instantly!" should read this PDF file. I have read it word for word and was totally surprised that you have not made this public. I am confused by your support of one of the Democratic candidates over the other without considering this article. Please explain.

Who gives a damn what Karl Rove thinks? He had his "magic numbers" in 2006 that told him the GOP would hold Congress.

Vote for the guy who can unite the party and win big in the Fall, and yes, in this case, it is the guy.
