NEW YORK — After rising to culinary stardom preparing impossible meals on his Food Network series, Robert Irvine has met an obstacle his kitchen prowess couldn't overcome _ an embellished resume.

The star of "Dinner: Impossible" has acknowledged fabricating some of the more fantastic parts of his resume, including having cooked for Britain's Royal Family and various U.S. presidents.

Following the revelations, the network announced it would not renew Irvine's contract, though it would air the remaining episodes of the current season, the series' fourth.

"I was wrong to exaggerate in statements related to my experiences in the White House and the Royal Family," Irvine said in a written statement. "I am truly sorry for misleading people and misstating the facts."

The Food Network said it might revisit its decision at the end of this season, but for now would begin searching for a new host for the series, which challenged Irvine to cook under arduous conditions.

"We rely on the trust that our viewers have in the accuracy of the information we present, and Robert challenged that trust," the network said in a written release.

Irvine, who is from England, first acknowledged the fabrications in a Feb. 17 story in the St. Petersburg Times.

Network ratings. Had it not been made public, the network would have gone on. Rating is the only thung that matters

Good for him. Stick it to this asshats. I recommend we all lie on our resumes because it's rediculaous to put restictions on COOKING. I mean.. Fuck. It's cooking.

Can you cook good? Yes or no?

Does it taste really good? Are you an artist? Why would you need to be institutionalized BEFORE you serve meals to be people. Like. wtf?

Cops, Firemen, Doctors, Architects(builders) I can't think of too many other things requiring certification.

This is the second time they got burned for this. The last time was in their reality show "The Next Food TV Network Star" in which this guy was supposed to be an ex-Marine with stories about cooking for his comrades in Iraq, got to the final round, then was cut just before the episode was supposed to air. Major embarrassment. I thought the whole thing was fixed and the guy got tossed to add "controversy", but I guess I was wrong.

Back int he days of Julia Child, you had a woman without pretense, willing to laugh at her flaws, throw it back together and cover it up. That was a dame. That was real. What is passing for chefs now, isn't based on thier ability to cook, rather, do they fil a certain cupie doll profile? Those who know Lydia Bastianich, also know the woman knows how to cook, but because she isn't a raving beauty, complete with fakey hair, boobs, and isn't 20, she was reduced to public broadcasting. The amount of sexism on the food network makes me want to puke in my pate. Its obvous who is running it. I am not sure what offends me more, the idea that they are trying to pass off these wanna be's as chefs, or that the chefs who were passed over, took it sitting down. Either way, there are real chefs out there who have worked thier behinds off in real kitchens, don't need to pretend to know how to cook, be cutesy or cover up bad cooking with sticks of butter. To those chefs, I tip my chef's hat, glass of puis fume blanc, and say bravo.

Cruisepuppy, I am with you . Julia was a gem as is Lydia Bastianich. I used to love to watch the PBS program Jaques (Pepin) and Julia.

Statement: Robert Irvine (he of the big guns and smokin' body) should NOT have padded his resume.

Question: Which twit at the Food Network had the responsibility to fully vet Mr. Irvine, his background, qualifications? Which twit at the Food Network was responsible for marketing Mr. Irvine? Which twit at the Food Network is on point for producing the content and claims of "Dinner: Impossible?"

Food Network: Are you also going to fire that twit?

buh-ruther!

I didn't watch the show because Robert Irvine supposedly cooked for the Queen or a past President. Who the F____ cares about that really? I used to be such a fan of that network, and would sit down on a Saturday morning and enjoy show after show. Now I hardly bother tuning in anymore. I like the Barefoot Contessa, Guy Fieri, and sometimes Bobby Flay's Throwdown. I used to like Giada but I'm tired of seeing her boobs. Rachel Ray is plastered all over the network and I'm tired of her never even attempting to bake a dessert. An occasional Ace of Cakes is fun to watch, because I love Jeff, he's always so ultra laid back.

More and more however, I just forget to even tune in. Seems like every time I check to see what's on, it's another cake challenge.

amen!

they have run off the chefs in favor of 30-something cooking personalities - who by the way don't have a clue - if i see one more carton of cool whip i'm gonna scream....

i miss the old days when i could watch and learn from some of the best chefs.

They fire yet another chef and keep the cooks. Mario Batalli, Ming Tsai, Emeril, Tony Bourdain...all CHEFS, all gone.
So what if Irvine padded his resume. He does an amazing job on his show.

But FoodTV keeps Rachel Ray, and gives her more shows, even after she goes on a drunken racist rant against Oprah Winfrey.
and then there is Semi-Natural Boobnies with Sandra Lee and the other silly people that open tins and thaw frozen bits and call it food!

FoodTV is CRAPTASTIC anymore.

I'm glad he was fired. I thought he was arrogant a--hole anyway. I love food network, but I never watched 'dinner impossible,' cuz I couldn't stand him.

Food network blows. It's all fluff for the nitwits now, just like every other network.
Okay, so 'Jaime at Home' is good ,but other than that...

I have been getting sick of all the competitions on their network, their own version of reality bites! I mean, how many throw downs, iron chef sweatings, dinner impossibles can one take. How about some teaching classes from unamusing but expert chefs. They don't even have to have plunging necklines -- just that they can cook. More Barefoot Contessas and Jamie Olivers and fewer suspenses and running around.

He was a lot easier to watch than the fake "Southern" Paula Deen.............if she says "ya'll" one more time, I will scream! Or I would have screamed...........I can't stand to watch her anymore. She thinks she is so cute! Speaking of ridiculous old ladies.......

Who cares? They have the EVOO queen and she can isn't even a trained chef. If fact neither is Paula Deen. So why the big deal with this guy getting caught out???

Booker52, your response is fantastic. I'm sitting here cracking up because your "EVOO queen" is spot on. I used to try to watch the Food Network because I do love to cook and even at my "advanced years", was willing to learn new techniques. Rachel Ray gets on my very last nerve with her EVOO comments. That, and sounding like a hippie lost in a type warp puts her in a category all her own.

Sandra Lee and her tablescapes can't hide the fact a pair of scissors and a can opener doesn't guarantee the meal is edible, much less "soooooo delicious".

I'm from the South, too, but Paula, stop talking through your nose , pare down the ya'lls and for goodness sakes, hide the butter.

Think I'll go cook a bologna sandwich now and read the rest of the comments here. This post is entertaining and it's fun to read . Thanks guys and gals. Keep tying :>)

He bragged about receiving a Knighthood by the Queen and given a castle. Those are pretty bold lies to be telling, especially if they're your claim to fame.
