Mccain Taxes

Think Progress:

Two weeks ago, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) took the "Read My Lips" plunge, proclaiming that as president he would not raise taxes for any reason. "No new taxes," he declared twice in an interview with ABC News.

The Wall Street Journal reports today that McCain is now distancing himself from the pledge not to raise taxes, saying his statement was not a firm commitment:

McCAIN: I'm not making a "read my lips" statement in that I will not raise taxes. But I'm not saying I can envision a scenario where I would, OK? But I'm not making it a centerpiece in my campaign.

The Iraq occupation will not pay for itself. The trillions spent on this debacle can only be paid by increasing the tax burden. To say otherwise is a lie.

I'm glad that McCain can do simple math. Until we begin to balance the budget, and pay down some of the national debt (coupled with controlling the trade deficit), we're going to have an economy that will remind some of songs like "Slip Sliding Away" and "The Point of New Return". P.S. John, we can't afford more WAR!

McCain is really pushing free trade agreements (Colombia today) and keeping NAFTA as it is. That's going to hurt him the the general election in the Great Lakes region and through much of the working class neighborhoods who have been going Republican lately

Looks like Johnny is saying, hey I will be the next Georgie if you vote for me. This is the only way to get around the two term limit. So, which group is he lying too? The dems because he really is a new Georgie or the republicans just to get cash to run and do it his own way after he is there? Or is he just a chronic liar? I wonder about some people that say dems are the tax party. Are they paid monkeys for the rich because the rich are the only ones who got any cuts? Do they not know that the rich will never share with their monkeys? Do you really want to be a slave? Do they know that if we do not pay our way in the world, we will collapse and they will get nothing? Do they really want their children to be in debt all of their lives? Do they know that the republicans ran up the largest historical deficit? This is supposed to be a free country with freedom of speech but maybe some people are to dumb to have an opinion. It costs money to be a citizen of this country. We all need to pay our share. The rich need to pay more because they get more. Usually by criminal acts or inheritance. We don't need an aristocracy. This notion of piling up more money then you can possibly spend in one life time is just a greedy disgusting habit. I am sure the bible belters will agree that greed is a sin.
