COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hillary Rodham Clinton finally had a confetti night. The Democratic presidential hopeful claimed victory in the Ohio primary Tuesday night and said that means, "We're going strong and we're going all the way."

Confetti rained down on her Ohio rally as she took the stage. She told the crowd her performance was a victory for everyone who's been "counted out but refused to be knocked out."

She and Barack Obama were in a tight race in Texas as she spoke, and her claim of Ohio victory had yet to be affirmed. Earlier, Clinton broke Obama's winning streak by taking Rhode Island, after Obama was declared the winner in Vermont.

Despite the turn of fortune, Clinton's still got an uphill fight to overcome Obama's lead in delegates.

Yup. Congratulations Hillary..... good job, what a fighter!!!! If she is nominated and I even go to the polls, looks like Nader is my only choice.
I will not vote to put another Clinton or Bush in the White house..... 16 years is enough. period.

Cristine Kraft on KGO radio last night asked an interesting question and made an interesting observatiion. She asked if Obama supporters would vote for Hillary if she is the winner, and if Hilllary supporters would support Obama if he wins. It seems to me that her initial premise is demonstrated in your post, and my observation is that most Hillary or Edwards supporters will support Obama. Is it because they love their country and feel that it is absolutely imperative that we not have another Republican in the White House -- and the surviival of the country depends on it? I voted for Obama because at the time I thought he had the best chance of winning, but I am disappointed in his supporters, and there is a big part of me that wants Hillary to win.

Right...because 1992-2000 were the worst 8 years ever...right? I mean if lyou put up those eight years next to the current administration you just have to say...Clintons years were worse. Sorry that just isn't true.

Anyone, and I mean anyone (including all Obama supporters) who would vote for the dinosaur Bush-hugging John McCain over Hillary Clinton is not thinking rationally but thinking out of spite.

It amazes me that some people equate Obama and McCain together and then place Clinton with Bush. It just ain't rational.

I'm not so sure a Clinton/Obama ticket is as powerful as some imagine. First, if Clinton is on top, that means the "super-delegates" put her on top or the rules were changed to redo FL/MI. Either scenario will disenfranchise blacks and many young people that are just now becoming interested in politics. I also think white men will shun the ticket.

The country is divided equally. While there's more interests in the DEM primaries, Republicans can count on 45% of the popular vote in November regardless of what the DEM ticket is. The question is; will they get enough from those that would never vote for a woman, a black, or a liberal to get over the top? We'll see...

Clinton's "scorched earth" strategy is going to destroy any chances of a Democrat winning the white house. John McCain and FoxNews are LOVING THIS!!!

Now they sit back and watch Hillary continue her negative campaign, trying to tear down Obama, and watch both of them spend all their money fighting one another while John McCain begins campaigning and fundraising now for the general election.

I agree with your premise that the protracted Dem contest will hurt the eventual nominee, but I also believe it might be the best thing that's happened for this country in a long time.

So many people are paying attention this process. So many people are getting involved. For the first time in decades politics is part of the pop culture. This has been one giant civics class for the nation.

Down the road the country will be better off for all of this. I'd like to see it continue.

Hurting the party? It's called DEMOCRACY jack-ass. If you think it's hurting the "party" or the "country" then you don't know much about the process do you. Let me guess...this is the FIRST primary and election you have EVER payed attention to. The negative campaigning is almost non-exsistant in this one...but you probably wouldn't know that because this is the FIRST one you have ever payed attention. Elections happen every four years.

NeverRepublican-------Let me tell you what the COUNTRY had hoped for! We wanted to change the face of the Nation to the whole world. WE DIDN'T WANT ELECTION AS USUAL! Hillary got this win by Fear Tactics! WE WANTED TO SAY TO THE WORLD WERE NOT ABOUT WAR AND FEAR. WE'LL PROTECT OURSELFT IF WE NEED TO----BUT WERE NOT ABOUT ANOTHER STUPID MOVE LIKE IRAQ. BUT TO WIN-HILLARY HAD TO PLAY THE FEAR GAME WITH LTHE AMERICAN PEOPLE. SHE BROUGHT BOMBS INTO OUR CHILDRENS BED ROOMS AND THIER DREAMS--------AND EVERY HOME IN AMERICA. THE VERY SAME FACE WE'VE SHOWN THE WORLD------AND WHY THEY HATE US AND DON'T TRUEST US ANY MORE! EIGHT MORE YEARS OF FEAR TALK TO GET THE CONGRESS TO DO WHAT SHE SAYSsS! I'm sick of thispeople! TAKE BACK AMERICA! TELL HER SHE ISN'T THE KIND OF CAMMANDER AND CHIEF WE WANT! If you can only win by scareing our children and bringing war into our home and dreams , we don't want you. WOMEN, PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN----------NOW---------------DON'T ALLOW THIS WOMAN TO RULE YOUR HOME AND YOUR CHILDS DREAMS BY FEAR!

I was living through elections when you were still sucking your Daddy's Dick!

Hillary stated that she and John McCain had a lifetime of experience to lead this country and that Obama had nothing, but a speech he made in 2002.

You don't consider Hillary endorsing the Republican candidate over her Democratic contendor as negative campaigning? She basically said if she wasn't on the ticket then John McCain should be President, because Obama lacks the required experience.

The irony is Hillary has NO EXPERIENCE. She didn't have a security clearance when she was first lady.

She is ensuring that if she doesn't win, then no democrat will win. That's called "scorched earth" policy. Knowing you have no chance of winning (which she doesn't as she can't catch up on the delegate votes) so she burns down everything so everyone loses.

Only they did not think it thru that if you dismantle the state in iraq you had better have a good plan to put it back together---

You really believe they didn’t think this thru? Did you see the video of cheney discussing why we didn’t go into Baghdad in 1991? Gimme a break.

You know in Russia, there was recently an election, a farce of an election really, but necessary nonetheless, to keep appearances. We’ve learned about that strategy of keeping appearances throughout our lives from various sources, all international politics one could argue, Larry Craig, Alan Keyes, the Godfather….

but wait! did it not take almost 2 years after 9/11 to invade Iraq---AFTER 9/11 there were congressional and UN resolutions and many, many debates etc in all these places on what to do...was ANY of this taking place BEFORE 9/11--

“My friends”, is it getting a little clearer now? Relatively easy hoops in retrospect. Not much convincing to do when you have a Democratic party of a bunch of spineless whores who were worried about Bush having victory parades throughout the states, worried about losing seats in November of 2002 (which they lost anyways, along with their pride and self-respect) YOU REALLY THINK THAT THESE HEARINGS or RESOLUTIONS MEANT ANYTHING other than fool blind loyal nimcompoops like yourself? Maybe you believe that Colin Powell didn’t completely ruin his name and career in February 2003 with his hash in a vial trick? (Looking back, we could have hired actors, or magicians, to convince Congress and the UN, right from Hollywood, stunt doubles for Bush/Cheney/Rummy/Condy/Colin…think about it…they right now would technically not have said a word about the bullshit they pushed to get us into Iraq)

Whether you agree or disagree with the Iraq invasion as a foreign policy strategy of the US after 9/11 to prevent more 9/11's is another arguement--but don't tell me Bush planned this all along and Iraq was his M.0 from day one...

The fact that you can literally regurgitate this crap so effortlessly reveals you for the very “lock-step” soldier that kept Bush in office for the last 8 years denying that he stole both elections…..last night I had to stomach the piece-of-crap waste of a life Ken Blackwell, and true to shameless republican form, he literally said that he’s happy that the dems are fighting it out in Ohio because it allows democracy to work….he said it with a smile on his face….from the very piece of crap, traitor to his race, directly responsible for suppressing the vote…..carrying the water for his republican slave masters. Oh yes, he’ll burn in hell with Bill Rehnquist soon enough

I myself hate both the Dems and Repugs and trust neither. Never trust a politician, or anything that they say. Rely on your own instincts and ignore those who tell you you’re crazy and not to ask any questions. Whoever is least full of shit is the one who might get you off of your ass to the ballot box…that’s the golden rule.

I will hold back my conspiracy theory about 9/11 until further notice…..more research remains to be done. If we can get a dem in the white house, we can bury bush and cheney with subpoenas for the next 4 years….another reason for an Obama supporter like myself to vote for Hillary….I may hate her, but damn she’s a crazy bitch, aint she?

It is time the Democratic party get things in order.

They can’t win in Nov without Florida and probably Michigan, the party needs to act now to initiate a new round of elections in both states – and not a caucus!

It is time to push for a Clinton/Obama ticket. Together, in that order, they could occupy the Whitehouse for 16 years – which is how long it is going to take to undo what Bush has done.

It is time for the Democratic party to honor the will and the voices of America that have spoken.

We choose Obama.

Obama 1477
Clinton 1391

Obama 27 contests
Clinton 14 contests

The math reflects the will of the people.
It is time for the Democrats to put the dysfunction destroying the potential for a democrat to be elected in November - to rest.

The people have spoken: black, white, Asian, young, old, rich, poor, educated, non-educated.
And they KNOW how they voted.
And they KNOW what the results are.

So .. unless Ohio whites are more important than WIsconsin whites, or Ohio whites are more important than Lousianna Blacks ... it seems that the voice of the people, reflects what the people have chosen by the majority of votes representing their will and their voice.

Oh, yes.. and the electorate was polled and clearly stated that those superdelegates should indeed reflect the will of the American people!!!

It's 3 AM.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR 1477 VOTES WENT?

How is it a comeback when she was ahead by so much in these states a month ago, and he closed the gap so dramatically?

The media are knuckling under to her whining and are afraid of her accusations--the same trick Bush has used against the media--and it's working again!

And just because the Republicans are even dirtier doesn't mean she aint dirty.

""Well, Jesse Jackson won South Carolina twice" so it's no big deal.

It's very odd to imagine the Democrats and their "super-delegates" allowing the nomination of a candidate that loses the popular Democratic primary vote in New York, California, Florida, Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania (Clinton will win PA)... Especially when they KNOW that the Republicans are licking their chops for an Obama nomination. (they will shred him on experience, flip-flopping, patriotism, etc.)

It just seems to me that of the two Dem candidates, Hillary has the much better chance of beating McCain.

Looks like this election will further divide us. Hillary has every right to remain in the race.....if only to destroy the Democratic Party. Billary has superbly manipulated the greedy media; specifically NBC, a masterful win-win for both in terms of pro-Hillary and loads of money for NBC because a lot of people will tune in (not me) and be swayed by the spectacle MSNBC has become. Of course Billary & Co. will further manipulate the process. Hillary is aligning herself with John McCain to get her base revved-up; under 50k income, not a lot of college, catholic, women, seniors, lesbians, southerners, Latinos etc. Now, her recent trick, another gift from Karl Rove, is to side with McCain; it's John McCain and Hillary together, against Obama. Her base will love this because we all respect John McCain as a decorated war hero; he is her foe and Obama is their enemy. She cannot be trusted and she has proven to be disloyal to the party by aligning herself with John McCain only for political gain. And John McCain is somehow allowing himself to be manipulated by Billary. I hope and pray that the Democratic Party can hold onto the positive changes that have aleady happened; record number voter turnout, fine-tuning an innovative and lucrative way to campaign, bringing new and young people to the party, bringing more and new money to the party and the potential, in November to become a strong, united, superior, financially robust, and smarter Democratic Party to lead in the 21st Century. But if Hillary goes fear and smear (tactics of the past), and if the new generation doesn't push her back, then the DNC will be in deep trouble in November because she will have effectively polorized and destroyed this party...and its future. Look, it's the past vs. the future, we need to go on a different trajectory. Even though it's mathmatically impossible for Hillary to win the nomination; Billary & Co. will manipulate the system, by any means necessary, until she gets the nomimee only to lose in the general. Wake up people.

The cable news industry and political blogs and political junkies are simply amusing themselves with all of their horse race blather concerning the last rounds of democrat primaries...polls, voter demographics and posing endless what ifs and silly analysis...like Barnicle on MSNBC talking about the value of Clinton using "action verbs" in her campaign...LOL

The nomination will be decided by the super delegates...pure and simple. Barring Obama stepping on his silver tongue...Clinton has no chance to catch him in pledged delegates and neither will have the required 2025 to clinch the nomination.

With the election rules set by the democrats for the primaries...they have ensured that several hundred party insiders will decide the nomination...with or without the approval of their voting base...it really is that simple.

Michigan and Florida should have a 'do-over.'

It does not have to be a primary. It does not have to be a caucus.

Send a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) to every registered democratic in each state with a ballot. That ballot should have the candidates name on it and be machine readable.

This is a far less expensive option than a primary, and a far more inclusive process than a caucus. Stop over thinking Michigan and Florida, and let's hear what they have to say.

As an Obama supporter, what you Hillary supporters don't seem to understand is that we do want CHANGE... somehow, someway.... hell, I wanted Kucinich. But 8 years of 'Slick Willie' (didn't vote for him in the primaries either), 8 years of Reagan, and 12 of the Bush clan, and now the prospect of another 4 years of THE SAME THING has got me seriously looking to move abroad. Funny thing is, those countries actually protect their workers! At any rate, Hillary will try to win at any cost and if successful, we will just have more of the same.
