House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday now is not the time for superdelegates to wade into the fight over the Democratic presidential nomination. "I think the electoral process has to work its way," the California Democrat told reporters. "There are still many voters unheard from yet, and I think that our candidates both have the capacity to inspire, to bring out a big vote that will hold us in good stead in November, and I think that now is not the time for anybody to weigh in."

Pelosi said she was confident the nominee would be decided before the Democratic convention in August, and that she was "never among those who believed this would be resolved by now."

The lack of posts in this thread illustrate the fact that NOBODY thinks much of Nancy; She's shown herself to be a looser of the most impressive kind. We'd rather she just resigned.

"...I think that our candidates both have the capacity to inspire..."

I, for one, don't find lying, race-baiting, and fear-mongering particularly inspiring.

OBAMA '08

This does not surprise me at all. Pelosi and all the other Democrats who came to power promising change have done nothing to bring that change about. Brought to power by the people's overwhelming opposition to the war, these beltway regulars have dug in their heels and maintained the status quo on that issue as well as many others. Although I have been a lifelong Democrat, I have no illusions about my party any longer. Of course Pelosi doesn't want super delegates jumping from the Clinton camp to support Obama because there is no democrat who represents the status quo on every major issue more than Senator Clinton. She has become a mealy mouthed appeaser of the powerful, of corporate interests, a hawk on the war and this election is about her ambition and quest for power more than the good of the country. Make no mistake about it: neither Senator nor ex-President Clinton care about the people who have no health insurance and struggle to hang onto their homes, they do not care about the soldiers and innocent Iraqis caught in this illegal, immoral war. They care about getting back into the White House and establishment Democrats like Pelosi support them. In the 2004 election Howard Dean managed to energize an apathetic electorate only to have the DNC do an end run around him and foist John Kerry upon us as the nominee. John Kerry was DOA before the primaries and he had no chance in the general election against the Karl Rove machine. All the protectionist liberals who support Clinton are fooling themselves if they think she can win in November. She is unelectable, polarizing and divisive. And she has sunk to new lows in the past few weeks. I had one brief shining moment in the past month where I really believed that Obama could win the nomination. But the dirty Clinton political machinations coupled with the support of politicians like Pelosi make that a dim prospect at this point. They will force Hillary upon us as the anointed one and we will have to endure a McCain presidency. I'm changing my affiliation to the independent party.
