Bush Administration: 2002 Resolution Authorized Staying In Iraq Long-Term

The Bush administration yesterday advanced a new argument for why it does not require congressional approval to strike a long-term security agreement with Iraq, stating that Congress had already endorsed such an initiative through its 2002 resolution authorizing the use of force against Saddam Hussein.

The 2002 measure, along with the congressional resolution passed one week after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks authorizing military action "to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States," permits indefinite combat operations in Iraq, according to a statement by the State Department's Bureau of Legislative Affairs.

318 days left and counting.
Another good reason to impeach.
Our country is a mess!
Next we are going to get all of the scare tactics!!
Arrogance and ignorance rules here.
Our country has been looted and our lawmakers
care nothing of the law.
Obama sounds like a breath of fresh air!

RE-INSTITUTE THE DRAFT AND OUR KIDS WILL BE BACK FROM IRAQ BY THE TIME THE INK DRIES ON THE PAPER-WORK!

Neo-cowards don't mind if your kid dies over there but as soon as their na're do well kid's lives are at risk, that's another story!

Everytime the AWOL President steps up to the mic, he reminds me more and more of my four year old niece, who's taken to throwing temper tantrums anytime things don't go her way!

Thankfully, she'll be a grown up some day/

Why have recent Republican travelers to Iraq stress
that they feel no compunction about walking around Baghdad without a military escort and felt completely safe? It would do the media well to check these claims.
It has been my experience during my service time in England during the Korean War that I seldom saw a Congressional dignitary go anywhere without a military escort, and this was in England in the 1950's.

In true Republican style. Bush has chosen to twist and rewrite the Constitution to suit his own selfish aspirations. That seems to be common thing among Republican's these days. The laws aren't meant for them. They are only meant for the rest of the country to follow. I am like the woman earlier. If he wants to continue the war dig deep in his pocket and pay for it!!! I for one am sick of all our wealth going to pay for a illegal war and buy off terrorist's to keep them from killing each other!

G. W. Bush talks a lot about spreading democracy in other countries by force. At the same time, he's assaulting the very principles of the american democratic system : the rule of law, the separation of powers, the checks and balances system, congressional oversight.

Its funny how comments are open for this post but not for the bombing of the recruiting station.

The bombing of the recruiting station was some nut out to make us think that we hate the military. We love our military, we just don't support them much after they can no longer do their jobs which is how the Repugs want it they have done so much to make our military into service for Bush and Bush could care less what happens to them after they are no use to them anymore.
Maybe we should put an amendment to have someone else be commander in chief of the military besides the president.

Further, the 'Joint Resolution' authorizes free cable TV for life at the Crawford ranch, unlimited free meals at Wendy's for Junior and Darth and a No-Fly List courtesy card for their family members... 'cause they SAY so.

These, as well as all the provisions with which Bush failed to comply, remain -- to date -- unexamined by the news media.

Bush has got it wrong. The resolution that he is quoting authorises the use of force to remove the president from office. Or to prevent him from doing any more tap dancing.

If elections do not go his way, that dick cheney plans to claim the resolution means he can be president indefinitely.

Wasn't it the costs of its military that eventually did the Soviet Union in? That and a poor economy (not to mention a Polish Union Leader's defiance)?

Ya, that and some fairly heavy corruption, that's always a winner for collapsing empires.

After four plus years of War in Iraq and after the implementation of the Iraqi Constitution, citizens of that war torn region were asked if they could define the word 'Constitution'
Here's what they said:
"A Constitution is a set of laws for a country; laws that the leaders of that country can disregard whenever the mood strikes them"

Yup, that sounds just about right!!!

The neo-con"s "Global War on Terror" (or has the Cheney spin machine come up with a newer, more palatable, slogan?) is so important to this nation"s future that even if we"re there for another 100 years, as Mr. McCain suggests, the neo-cons STILL won"t re-institute the draft.
Does this not sound right with anyone else?

Truth is, the neo-cons would never allow their born to privilege children to risk their lives for oil.
Sure, it"s okay for the rabble to risk their "minimum" wage lives for Exxon-Mobile but not the spawn of Republican Royals of America!
When asked about the potential for a re-instituted draft, Jenna Bush and her fiancé said: "Wawhooooooo....PARTAAAAAY."
Oh, cut "em some slack; they"re still down in Boca Raton celebrating their upcoming marriage!

RE-INSTITUTE THE DRAFT AND OUR TROOPS WILL BE HOME TOMORROW!

Agree:

Re-institute the draft and enact a war tax!

Given the fact that Dem voters have far outnumbered Rep voters in the primaries so far
(about 2 to 1), the chances of McCain being Prez are a big fat ZERO!!
