Jennifer Grey, who played "Baby" to Patrick Swayze's "Johnny in the 1987 movie Dirty Dancing, calls the actor's bout with pancreatic cancer "so sad":

"It is so sad. If I saw him on the streets today, I'd throw my arms around him and love him up."

Another of Swayze's costars', Lea Thompson (the 2 were in 1984's Red Dawn) told Us:

"I've known him for so long, he's a great guy, and I love him so much... He was such a great dancer," she added. "He will be resilient -- us dancers are tough!"

Actor Tom Hanks told a cameraman:

It's a terrible thing. He's a great guy. I hope it goes well. It's such sad news.

Whoopi Goldberg said yesterday that she owes Swayze her Oscar for Ghost and "We want you to feel better _ we'll talk soon."

I think that Patrick has one thing going for him and that is that as a dancer he is in great physical shape, so I think that his chances to beat this are great. I've heard once that it helps to watch funny shows and movies while recuperating, don't laugh I've read that it does something good to your system and so I'm hoping that they get a lot of Laurel and Hardy films for him to watch. But the other thing is for his friends to call or write or send cards to let him know that they are thinking and praying for his speedy and healthy recovery. So Patrick, know that there are many of your fans who are sad to hear of your illness and that we are all praying for you. Prayers can be a powerful tool and I hope that you will feel the love from us all surround you in this time of crisis in your life. My God bless you and keep you in his care, watch over you and restore your good health once again.

Who cares if he was a drinker or not. For God's Sake, keep him in your prayers!

Lest we forget...Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder, had pancreatic cancer and is doing very well today, years after the diagnosis. Each day of life is a gift, a roll of the dice, an entire lifetime-in and of itself.
Death is inevitable and it is a teacher of the value of today, the now, of you and I. To grieve (depreciating) is to take away time from ourselves we could be using to celebrate (nurturing) life. Patrick is on notice he is mortal by way of this diagnosis. How he utilizes his remaining time-be it 25 days or 50-years-will determine the quality of his experience, his contributions to others and, perhaps, ultimately, the direction and conditions of his soul's journey in the eternal. Good luck nimblefeet!

Did any of these people think of actually picking up the phone and talking to him? Obviously none did or they would have mentioned that.

I don't believe he gave his number to all these hypocrits who now say, we talk soon.
besides does he want to rehash all day long on the phone how he feels. I don't think
so.

Patrick can beat this, if anyone can. I just love him, he is an awesome dancer and actor. I can watch his movies (most of them, like Dirty Dancing, and Ghost) over and over, the true test of a great actor. Love to you Patrick!! : )

Patrick should have gone to Switzerand as soon as he found out he had cancer. Today we don't need the pancrease as much anymore. Enzymes can dissolve food in the intestines and the stomach. Insulin we can get from shots and the his pancreas should have been resting. Chemo don't help for pancreatic cancer it speeds up your demise.

dora_rice,

Right you are.

Also, cancer cannot live in a balanced alkaline system either.

His diet has reversed "terminal" cancer and he is doing fine and in complete remission now. Stem cell research in Europe is doing great in that area too.

He is the sexiest dancer in the film Dirty Dancing. I understand his Mom taught dancing and boy did she teach Patrick! There is a rugged, bad boy look about him and you know women are drawn to the Bad Boys among us.
I wish him well. Such a great entertainer.

I thought Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey *hated* each other. No doubt they've moved past their differences, but it was just something I remembered. I really hope the NE is off on this one and that the situation is not so dire. He really won me over all over again when he did Donnie Darko. I remember listening to the director Richard Kelly in the commentary talking about how Swayze was so excited about doing the movie that he was going to frost his hair for the occasion. Love the Swayze.

I'd like to know how some people get their inside information. The clip of him dancing on Oprah in November showed him to look as fit and healthy as a much younger than 55 year old man. Looks can be deceiving, of course, but can we not be kind when speaking of a seriously ill person? As soon as I heard about this diagnosis, I did some quick research on the cancer and learned that, yes, it can be triggered by drinking, smoking, bad diet, but more often than not it is due to a genetic predisposition. Luck of the draw. He and his wife are both pilots and if they were flying around drunk, I'll bet we'd have heard long ago that they'd died in a plane crash. I don't know why he's been struck by this tragedy and its not for me to speculate.

Supposedly, he never flew drunk. He landed emergently, once. At that time, he appeared drunk. Turns out, it was low oxygen due to problems with the plane. He was not drunk.

I'd never heard anything about him & alcohol. My original posting was supposed to be in response to dora rice's at the bottom. She had the first post and it was the only one showing when I wrote mine. I was not suggesting that he was drunk at any time. Never followed his career, saw his movies or read any gossip about him. He seems like a good guy who's lived a stable life in spite of being in the biz. I just think this is really tragic for him and his family. The situation drives home the fact that any of us blithely going along living our lives could get terrible news unexpectedly at any time. Reminds me to strive to appreciate every minute of my life. I wish him well.

I just hope he is not like his GHOST Character and moves on happily! Hate to think of him having to sing "I am Henry the 8th I am!".. (I loved that scene he was soo funny in it, his facial expressions).

Always the genuinely sweet good people go early... I hope not, but my gramma had the same thing, and she lasted 3 days...

These comments by those actors was worthy of this article???

"How sad... " "WAS a great dancer" HE STILL IS!!!!

Yeah how sad this article!!!!!

I hate the Enquiror's death sentence on him... But I also hope his doctors are not doing a media spin of "alls well" for him to keep them away as we all know how media LOVES to get someone when they are down..

Remember Michael Landon fighting it? Enquiror said he was at death's door, doctors he was doing well, but that stupid magazine was right. Unfortunately

You "understand" he was an alcoholic, but have no proof??? First I've EVER heard of this.

I've only known two people with pancreatic disease and one had the cancer and NEITHER of them were drinkers.

As for Patrick I hope the stars favor him and pull him through.

I've known 2 who have died from this too. One never drank, ever. The other was a wine with dinner sort of guy.

My husband & I work in Hollywood. I've never heard a bad word about Patrick. That's very rare.

I understand he was practically an alcoholic. Although many alcoholics do not come down with
pancreatic cancer. But most patients who conduct the cancer are heavy alcohol drinkers. Micheal
Landon had the same disease. Why we don't tell the truth and say it is a deadly disease and a fast
progressing cancer is beyond me. Michael went through heartbreaking therapy and finally his doctor told him to get his housen in order because he is dying. Swayzy won't live any longer than Michael
did. Instead of letting these people live life to the fullest you make them sick with chemicals you call therapy. If it spread to the lympnodes which it very likely did, he is a walking dead man. Why we deny
death is beyond me. Since we all die sooner or later. Most of us later some of us get it behind a
little sooner. I mean it's not like its been told to you over and over this drinking will kill you. And we all
know what they all answer. God bless him in the here after.

Ok, he is a recovered alcoholic (at least as far as the public knows, not that it's any of anyone's business), and it is RIDICULOUS of you to presume that you know the cause or progression of his illness, or how long he is going to live. Have some humility, my god.
