A member of the DNC's Rules And Bylaws Committee--the committee that stripped Florida and Michigan of its delegates for moving their primaries before February 5th--told me that Michigan plans to get out of its uncounted delegate problem by announcing a new caucus in the next few days.

"They want to play. They know how to do caucuses," the DNC source said. "That was their plan all along, before they got cute with the primary."

Hmmm.... is it just me or are we being moderated to within an inch of our creative and contentious lives? I swear this piece was at over 700 comments 4 hours ago -- was there a flag war or did things just disappear?

Anyone ever get the feeling that elections are made as complicated as possible?

If EVERYONE's so concerned about FAIRNESS to the VOTERS, the ONLY OPTION is a PRIMARY.

This way voters from ALL walks of life will be able to partcipate - not only those that have FREE TIME on their HANDS.

There is no Comparable OR Better Solution that can TRUMP this REASONING.

Will the REAL Hillary Clinton... Please step forward:

A March 12, 2007 article written by acclaimed Washington columnist Robert Novak sheds a very revealing light on the true sentiment of Hillary Clinton during the peak of the Civil Rights Movement. Clinton recently was found to have minimized the great and monumental strides taken by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by stating that it was Lyndon B. Johnson, then president, who should receive the credit for the civil rights progress including the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The fact is, in 1963, not only was Hillary Clinton a republican, but she was also a staunch supporter of  republican Senator Barry Goldwater, well known as a segregationist and one of the most vocal senato rs adamantly against the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which is why he lost in his presidential bid to Lyndon B. Johnson. Novak writes '...how then could she be a 'Goldwater Girl' in the next year's presidential election?' He continues, '...she described herself in her memoirs as 'an active Young Republican' and 'a Goldwater girl, right down to my cowgirl outfit.'

She has worked extremely hard to hide many truths about her past, including ordering that her 92 page college thesis that she wrote at Wellesley College be 'sealed' and unavailable to the public, an order forced upon the college by Bill Clinton while president, although all senior thesis' at Wellesley have been available for public reading for over 100 years, except one....Hillary Rodham Clinton's.

haha -- finally it's been said. why do you think she's been so careful to reiterate the "35 years" mantra. if she actually included her ENTIRE lifetime of service (read: 45 years), she'd have to answer questions about her "goldwater girl" days -- and you know that ain't happening. she's already lost a huge chunk of the black vote. the saddest part about this is that the msm won't tell the public this -- and they've just taken what she's said "at her word." it reflects negatively not only on the msm, but also an electorate that either is too gullible or too lazy to find out this information or pressure those who control it to release it to the masses.

None of us should have to defend the political affiliations of our parents. Hillary's parents were Republican back in the days of Eisenhower, who was not a bad president. When she left home, she developed her own ideas.

I don't blame her for having her senior thesis sealed. It is rare for a student to have their college papers published and judged years after the fact. That one I wrote in 1973 on a guaranteed annual income is one I'd like to forget.

I loved Howard Dean's interviews on the MSM over this situation. He was asked if this 'train wreck' of a process, directed by him, is good for the party. He answered 'yes'. Wow, is that spinning his involvement in this electoral fiasco? It'll cost the party and the states over $30 million to redo these primaries. After the present primary calendar has played out?? Which will only prolong an already exasperating Democratic process. Way to go, DEAN! Oh, by the way the DNC is almost broke, so where is all this money going to come from, OBAMA and CLINTON campaigns?

I can't bel;ieve Obama supporters donm't see anything wrong with teh DNC essentially saying to MI and FL: "Give me $20,000,000 or your voting rights get it".

Because the Democratic party shouldn't enforce its rules, why? I mean, I know we're Democrats, but we're not supposed to actively seek out any and every chance to show the rest of the nation that we really do believe in free love, lack of consequences for actions, and treating adults like they were children. Really, when will this sick paradoy of Dems a crybabies who whine and scream untill they get their way end?

The voters of FL and MI have a complaint to take to the state legislatures that violated the rules, not with the body empowered with making the rules and enforcing them.

Had FL and MI held their primaries in Aug of '07, you would not be arguing that those delegates should be seated.

The money was already wasted on an invalid primary. Now if those voters want a voice, they need to pay for a legitimate vote.

Oh, did you know that Obama won Texas? Another big state for Obama!

This 'story' is a complete joke, and HuffPost knows it! An 'opinion' by a so-called "member of the DNC's Rules And Bylaws Committee" doesn't mean jack sh*t. The DNC isn't a government body, therefore they can't legislate and enact laws; only state and federal government can create and enact laws. The DNC is nothing more than an organization that represents one political party in American politics, that's it. Now, there may be judicial precedence that the DNC can strip delegates, but the DNC knows damn well that they have absolutely NO legal jurisdiction to disenfranchise the voters in Michigan -&- Florida, who BY LAW, already legally voted. Anybody that doesn't understand the simplicity of this argument is either retarded, or is dumb as a stump. There will be no 'caucuses' (sorry Obamabots), there will be no 'do overs(especially in light of the fact that the Obama camp are the only ones who want one and seemingly want to pathetically stick the tax payers with the bill!), the Michigan -&- Florida Primary votes will stand, and it's tough sh*t for the Obama camp; NOBODY forced Obama to take his name off the Michigan ballot; Obama did that all by HIMSELF and has no one to blame, but himself.

Unfortunately, you are ill informed. Study some history and political science, please. The DNC can make its own rules, and enforce them. So can the RNC. What is the difference between creating and enacting laws? The DNC does not represent a party, it is the governing body of the party. I think you mean "precedents" not "precedence." The DNC and RNC tried to eliminate some of the one-upmanship which was going on with primary and caucus dates. Two states decided not to play by the rules, and did so with knowledge of the rules. Their attitude was "you can't make me." Most candidates tried to adhere to the rules by taking their names off the ballots where possible; one did not, apparently seeking some advantage. Those primaries were unapproved by the national party, which has no obligation to seat the delegates chosen. Each party has the right to demand appropriate credentials from a delegation, and to reject a delegation without proper credentials.

Hillary did well in those states because of name recognition, just as she led in early polls. Obama caught up with her in most of the states he campaigned in. The results would have been different had he campaigned there.

None of us like this mess and the possible exclusion of delegates from Michigan and Florida. We just want states to abide by the rules and give all the candidates a fair chance to campaign in those states. I always look to see who caused the mess when I consider what should be done to clean it up. The messes could have been avoided if the states had not moved up their primaries. Why should anyone else pay for a do-over? If they want their delegates seated, they better clean up the mess they made.

Obama needs a strong running mate, and he will Win those key states like California and Texas, overwhelmingly. People don't understand that there is going to be a running mate here. Texas is telling, she barely won it. If there was any true momentum - she would have maintained or surpassed her 20-30 point lead she squandered there. What is this about Hillary winning key states
The Democratic party needs to take advantage of the frustration in the Republican party with their leaders. Not unite them, with a nominee like Clinton. She is not earning Republican support, Independent Support, and without caution she is throwing half of the Democratic party voters under the bus. She hasn't brought in any new voters too, that are significant.

What leg will she have to stand on come November? None, Obama, will take advantage of the Republican frustration. End the Reagan Era, a getting a winning running mate.

What is telling, and for all of Hillary's name recognition and good will (things money cannot buy) she barely won big states like Texas and California. Obama was able to almost pull even in New York by just 400,000 votes from over 4.5 million cast, same in California. And this was a month ago.

Time is on Obama's side. He has the Message laid out, the rest should be easy. Its just putting pieces in the puzzle.

The caucus will probably be run like a primary where people will just walk in and vote. It's called a caucus because it's being paid for by the state.

Caucuses are the only answer in both MI and FL. Primaries are just too damn expensive. Donors to the Obama or McClinton campaigns do not want to blow up to $40MM having primaries in both states. And Crist does not want to pony up for the money in FL either.

The Democratic candidates are doing amazingly well in fund raising, but the RNC is raising more money than the DNC. The last thing we want is the DNC putting up $40MM for two extra primaries when we need it to maintain our majorities in the house and the senate.

Obama should pledge 5 million to pay for a revote and challenge Clinton to do the same. The DNC should pay for the rest...what kind of vote ie. mail-in etc, is a cost/logistics issue. However , if not settled, Michigan/Florida will be the Florida 2000 or Ohio 2004 of 2008. The only choice is to reenfrachise those two states, especially since Florida was, once again, a Republican manipulation. It's still possible for May or June, if the decision is made soon. I know the 1,000,000+ Obama contributers will step up...put the pressure on Hillary Clinton to assure the Democratic Primary is
about the voters, not the politicians or politics.

Ok, if I recall, Dean said that these states must find a solution within party rules. Is it not true that caucuses are acceptable?? Many states have always had them. Is there a reason, should MI decide on a caucus that it is (for lack of a better word) "Illegal"? If it is not, then why not. MI says the cannot afford a primary. Why not a caucus in MI and a redo in FLA. IF both are within party rules than what are the bitch grounds?

That all being said, and acknowledging that we can't change the rules now, in the future, I think they should have no caucuses, no delegates, super delegates and no electoral college and simply go by the people's vote. That's not gonna happen though and we will continue to bitch. I don't know how many times we need to be screwed before we are outraged enough at the system. Maybe if Hillary gets the nomination and McCain ends up winning, we'll finally smarten up.

For the life of me...I cannot picture a Caucus in Florida. I know Hillary will still win in Florida, but maybe, by not as much of a margin due to the States early voting leading up to January 25th. The actual day of the primary down here, a lot of votes broke for Obama.

This mess points out how badly we need election reforms that restore order and offer

real representation with honest counting and paper receipts. Our primaries should all

take place the weekend after taxes are due in April with polls open from noon to six, on

Friday to Sunday. Let the MSM report the daily tallies when the polls close on each day.

Do the same for the general election on the first weekend of November with no elitist

'college' or court interference and let the popular vote decide it. Now that's democratic!
