Hillary Clinton

London Telegraph:

Hillary Clinton had no direct role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and is a "wee bit silly" for exaggerating the part she played, according to Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province.

"I don't know there was much she did apart from accompanying Bill [Clinton] going around," he said. Her recent statements about being deeply involved were merely "the sort of thing people put in their canvassing leaflets" during elections. "She visited when things were happening, saw what was going on, she can certainly say it was part of her experience. I don't want to rain on the thing for her but being a cheerleader for something is slightly different from being a principal player."

Being old and whiter doesn't make me stupid. Hillary talks of her experience, but whatever it was, it didn't prevent her from voting for the war on Iraq. Nor did that fiasco prevent her from voting for Kyl-Lieberman. What are the solutions she talks about?

I will agree with her that Mr. Obama speaks better. But that doesn't indicate that he must necessarily be worse at other things.

She claims credit for a lot of things. I wonder if she invented the holes in Swiss cheese.

All the trash talk on this issue is completely unfounded:

Statement from John Hume former MP MEP, founder of the SDLP and an architect of the Good Friday Agreement. He is the only person to win the Nobel Prize for Peace, the Ghandi Peace Award and the Martin Luther King Peace Prize.

“I am quite surprised that anyone would suggest that Hillary Clinton did not perform important foreign policy work as First Lady. I can state from firsthand experience that she played a positive role for over a decade in helping to bring peace to Northern Ireland.

She visited Northern Ireland, met with very many people and gave very decisive support to the peace process. There is no doubt that the people of Northern Ireland think very positively of Hillary Clinton’s support for our peace process, due to her visits to Northern Ireland and her meetings with so many people. In private she made countless calls and contacts, speaking to leaders and opinion makers on all sides, urging them to keep moving forward.

Anyone criticizing her foreign policy involvement should look at her very active and positive approach to Northern Ireland and speak with the people of Northern Ireland who have the highest regard for her and are very grateful for her very active support for our peace process.”

More lies and BS from hillary.

From George Mitchell:
"She was one of many people who participated in encouraging women to get involved, not the only one."

Encouraging women is not quite the same as brokering a peace deal. In fact, it is just more experience serving tea.

Why not go to the source? Ask the Irish themselves:

Another Hillary piece of bullshit spin.

How many times does that make now that she either lied about her "experience" or lied about Obama?
How do I distrust Hillary? Let me count the ways.

Truthguy - one thing about truth - don't get it from one newpaper in London and then assume you know everything. Especially if the truth you are looking for is about Ireland. Do you even know who the combatants were? Think it through. Use your head.

Hillary is not lying about her experiences in Ireland.

1999: Northern Ireland Secretary: ‘Hillary is one of the essential reasons’ Ireland had peace. An August 1999 issue of Talk Magazine quotes Northern Ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam: "Hillary is one of the essential reasons we've had 18 months of relative peace. Without her we would have no economic boom."

Are you saying you are a paid Clinton poster? Or is the person who mentioned Talk Magazine a paid poster? Or anyone who disagrees? I don't get it.

So let me get this straight. For eight years hillary is villified by the extreme right wing and praised by the left wing for stepping outside the traditional role of first lady and involving herself in legislative and diplomatic affairs more than any first lady in the history of this country. Fast forward to 2008 and she is attacked by the extreme left wing for having no qualifications because she was only a first lady. Am I missing something here? It is either one or the other but I am a little concerned that the left wing of the democratic party have embraced Newt Gingrich's tactics so whole heartedly.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:45 AM on 03/09/2008

You are indeed missing something. hillary was not praised by the left wing for stepping outside the traditional role....

Instead she was excoriated for her roles in TravelGate, FileGate, the murder of VInce Foster. She was shunned for sabotaging the nations first chance at universal helathcare by trying to do it in secret with health care lobbyists.

After less than two years in the White House the American people were so disgusted with the clinton's ego and hubris that they threw the Democrats out of the House and Senate.

When bill clinton left office, hillary stole $400K in china and silverware. Although to be fair, $28K was later returned to the national park service.

I would say you missed quite a bit.

ARE YOU A REPUBLICAN. OR JUST OBAMA SUPPORTER. TO SAY SHE STOLE THINGS IS BEYOND BELIEF. WILL YOU SAY ANTHING, JUST THROW IT OUT THERE AND HOPE IT STICKS. YOU ARE NOT DOING OBAMA ANY GOOD. YOUR ONLY GETTING HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTERS STRONGER. SHE WAS EVEN INVESTIGATED FOR CHRISTMAS CARDS BY THE REPUBLICAN CONGRESS. GET A LIFE AND TELL THE TRUTH.

I think Hillary Clinton does have a case to be made for having foreign policy, but interestingly enough, much of it involves simply giving speeches or "talk" as she would say. She criticizes Obama for giving speeches not solutions yet she cites her speech in China on women's rights as "experience."

As a writer and a big reader, I believe speeches and words are very important so I reject and renounce Clinton's criticism of them when its convenient for her. And please her "solutions not speeches" is a soundbite as much as "yes we can."

Many presidents come to the White House with no real foreign policy experience and they do fine.

This is a remarkable hatchet job and it is amazingly successful. Read all of these Huffpo posts and note how the masses just take it all in and then spew it right back out - spiced up, of course, with all the hateful remarks.

Perhaps a British newspaper quoting a blowhard is not the best place to get a sense of the fondness the Irish have for Hillary Clinton. Go to....I don't know....Ireland maybe?

Read this:

The intellectual irresponsibility on Huffpo is deplorable.

I would say they rampant deceit displayed by Clinton is deplorable ... This nation has already had one Nixon, we don't need the female version now.

Oh, and in Nixon's defense, he had foreign policy experience, unlike Hillary.

You do realize that Senator Clinton served as a council the house committee to impeach Nixon. So your comparison is disingenious as she worked to rid the country of him.

"...but being a cheerleader for something is slightly different from being a principal player."

THIS should be one of the Obama campaign's primary talking points EVERY chance they get:

She's been a cheerleader for 35 years; she's not a fighter, as she claims, she's a CHEERLEADER.

Mass media is happy with talking to death about personal styles and such. Meanwhile, the Bush administration continues to dismantle the Constitution. And not a peep from the nation!
Instead of the rule of law the country is getting surveillance, rejection of the habeas corpus and Geneva Conventions, corrupted judiciary, war crimes.
The fog of stupidity is descending on the USA.

Read THE ENTIRE article this is linked to, dolt.

Responding to inquiries from this newspaper, Hillary Clinton’s campaign issued a statement from Mr Hume. "I am quite surprised that anyone would suggest that Hillary Clinton did not perform important foreign policy work as First Lady," the statement said.

"I can state from firsthand experience that she played a positive role for over a decade in helping to bring peace to Northern Ireland. She visited Northern Ireland, met with very many people and gave very decisive support to the peace process.

I was in Ireland during this time and believe me nobody talked about hillary except hillary.
