Pelosi Pipe Down

San Francisco Chronicle:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged both leading Democratic presidential candidates to cease their bickering, warning that the escalating rhetoric could hurt the party's chances in November.

"I would encourage both of them, as I have, to remember we have to keep our eyes on the prize, which is the general election in November," Pelosi said Friday at a luncheon in New York sponsored by Lifetime Networks and the Hearst Corp., parent company of The Chronicle.

"We are all very passionate about our politics and the issues we believe in, but we have to be very dispassionate about how we approach winning. We have to lift the debate to a place that does not turn off the American people."

Nancy: you wouldn't impeach, you won't stop funding the war, all because you were AFRAID it would cost the dems the election. Well Hillary thinks Insane McCain would be an acceptable president, but not Obama, so the dems may lose anyway.

There's still time to impeach Cheney and then Bush. Put the republicans on the defensive where they belong!

Pelosi has about as much Credibility as Tucker Carlson...
Can you imagine a Man's Man watching an Ad on TV and being afraid, very afraid! OMG, No way is HE going to spread Fear and hysteria... It's them thar Wimen that get so emotional... Guys like McCain lose their Temper, but women are Emotional, you know...
Can you imagine a Democrat, Blogger, Man's Man, writing a Blog spreading Fear of a Candidate... It's only Republicans who bring Fear into Politics... Spreading Fear is soooo Emotional and just wrong, wrong, wrong for any Democrat supporter to do!
Obama wouldn't spread Fear... He was against the War that isn't going on... War was NOT Declared by Congress... After all, it's not like he Campaigns on a Vote for Hillary is a Vote for War, does he??? Obama is a better Commander in Chief as a Rookie than Hillary... It's not like he would use Military Options... Because he says Hillary's vote for Military Options was a Vote for War... A Vote to Invade - Occupy Iraq... He wouldn't Lie to us would he? Hillary is scary isn't she??? Hey, it's not like Obama is implying be very afraid of Hillary... Or, maybe that's one of those Positive Fears his Campaign spreads???

Actually Nancy Pelosi introduced Barack Obama as the "next President of the United States, at a fund raiser dinner in Iowa in late October 2007 or early November, 2007. It is on tape. She is wearing a red jacket and black pants. I was surprised when I saw it, because I had assumed that Nancy would stay neutral, though I am sure she thinks she is better Presidential fodder than Hillary. Now everybody is saying she hasn't committed. Was her introduction just performa for any Democratic candidate? Somebody pull the video and explain her introduction???

They (The Dems in Nov) were NEVER going to defund the war. They could have and they knew it. They didn't have the guts. Same with BUSH. It was a gimmick to buy your vote in Nov. Just as ending the war is with Hillary and Obama. Have you ever passed a car going ten miles under the limit and you peer into the car as you pass and notice the driver staring aimlessly with his/her mouth open? Same principle. Oh and I am so sure now that Pelosi has spoken, it will stop all the bickering at once. Any one seen the Billionaire from stop light Nevada ( Harry Reid)? Absent again......Those two are an absolute joke. Someone please tell me WHAT they believe in?

Nancy, for your information, I am not anybody's "marble" and I will vote how I wish. You needn't expect any party loyalty after the cowardly failure of this Congress and this primary. Where were you last week when the real negative stuff was oozing out of the Clinton camp? Last month for that matter.

As for your job, that should be trying to muster the courage to say no to Bush just once before he goes.

Amen!

Where was the two faced Nancy P when Sybil McCain endorsed McCain over Obama! Outrageous.

The Democratic Party Leadership is hell bent on letting the Clintons destroy the Party AGAIN!

Email and call your 'reps' such as they are...tell them they MUST censure Clinton NOW for her traitorous behavior.

Let's be fair - Nancy has brought civil charges of obstruction against Bolten and Meiers for not testifying before Congress because our Justice Dept refused to do anything. Nancy has stood tall in many areas and the Senate has let her down. How far do you think a request of impeachment investigations or a special prosecutor being appointed to look into the corruption of Bush/Cheney would go with Mukasey or Gonzalez in charge as AG?

Our Justice Dept is a part of the GOP right now. It does the bidding of the GOP.

Hence the importance of a Democrat taking over in November.

She's right on this - every effort should be made to fight fairly. As you can see by this board alone this infighting is dividing our party. We can not be divided or we all suffer since the possiblity of at least 2 Supreme Court justices will retire in the next administration.

So would you all rather fight to the death, possibly turning off the voters in November? If you do then you can explain to your children and grandchildren where their civil rights went!

Okay folx, let's take it easy on Nance. Think back to Civics, and remember that it's damned nigh impossible to pass anything the reeks of partisanship unless you have a 60+ majority in the Senate. It's not even worth putting some issues on the table when you know they'll be quashed.
HOWEVER! Pelosi's family IS from Baltimore. She's the daughter of Thomas "Tommy" D'Alessandro, former U.S. Congressman and Baltimore Mayor. The family has close ties to Martin O'Malley, Baltimore Mayor cum MD Governor. O'Malley endorsed Clinton, so it wouldn't surprise me if Nance is feigning impartiality. Or maybe she just want to be on the ticket.

Perhaps you should rethink a bit to the litteny of bills Pelosi has allowed to the Senate floor. I am a San Franciscan and find her a horrible leader, disingenous, and enabling of Bush. It IS obvious that she is in Hillary's camp as she should have stepped hard on Hillary for her many untrue and divisive
comments. i.e. Poclaiming herself and McCain able to lead but Obama simply able to give a speech?
Where the hell was party leadership when those words were uttered????

And yet, Obama elegantly keeps gathering money in record amounts from record numbers of involved voters. If money, class, and the ability to manage a campaign and its' budgets are an indicator of ones ability to lead, Obama should be the clear nominee.

Pelosi cannot see the forrest for the trees. Get rid of her and the ineffectual Harry Reid NOW.

I would expect Nancy to do what I think is appropriate for all super-delegates and that is to cast their ballot in favor of the way their state voted. That would put Nancy's vote in Hillary's column but it's the fair thing to do. Democrats have watched as two elections have been stolen from us. This is the only right thing to do - no matter who you support.

I support Obama but the people have to know their votes have counted for something. Have we not learned anything at this point?

Sure, WordPimp: Let's go easy on "Nance" the way Daschle and Gebhardt, and most of the Dems went easy on Bush back in the 2004 midterms. That sure turned out well, didn't it? "Woe is us, we cannot do anything because we're spineless Democrats." It's as if the Democrats were playing poker, had a hand full of Aces, and said to the Republicans, "Here guys. You take these."

The democrats had MANY options including the threat of impeachment. Did they play any of these cards? If the bully threatens to beat you up in the school yard after school, you don't try to negotiate with him. You pick up the nearest branch and beat his head in. Get a clue, please.

What is up with the women in government? Pelosi is a failure, but Condolezza Rice is completely and utterly useless!! We need someone like Hillary - who is tough, takes no prisoners, and manhandles the guys like they are clay - to prove that women can succeed at the highest levels.

Yeah, that's what we need all right. We've had eight years of that role model in the White House, and look how well it's working. Rough and tough. Cheney and Rove. Great idea, Sparky.

We need someone who thinks like a civilized person - remember civilization?

Where was Hillary in handling Bush/Cheney? It seems she just caved - afraid to take a stand on anything. Give me a break. She voted for the War in Iraq - without reading the NIE. She voted for Kyl/Lieberman she voted against Levin! If that is toughness - please explain.

Our economy is in the dumper and that is a direct tie to the billions being thrown away on this war in Iraq. We need a tough new CEO in the White House but looking at Hillary's voting record - well not really encouraging is it?

She played so rough with the boys in Congress with her health care plan that the American people lost out completely. The GOP was ready to approve a national health care program. Her "it's my way or the highway" attitude lost all Americans the start of national health care.

Nothing will get done in Washington unless we have a president that can broker deals with both sides of the political fence.

Hillary rallies you hear the crowds shouting "YES SHE CAN" !

Obama rallies you hear the crowds shouting "YES WE CAN"!

We is the word that gets things changed in Washington!

I'm a woman and I find nothing more repulsive than the thought of Hillary Clinton representing me. I want women to be valued, respected and honored for their brilliance, merit, intelligence and accomplishments.

One doesn't have to look far to fine brilliant strong women like Barbara Boxer, Cynthia McKinney, Sheila Jackson-Lee in the US. But if you are looking for women who have accomplished even higher office, like Angela Merkel (Germany), Gro Harlem Brundtland ( Norway), Helen Clark (New Zealand), all of them have conducted themselves honorably, with integrity and consistancy.

Even though I am liberal, I am proud of Angela Merkel's accomplishments and her representing women as a whole. She is a conservative, but she has conducted herself in a way, that commands respect. Maybe Hillary Clinton should stop watching Jerry Spring and pick up a phone to call Merkel, Brundtland and Clark to LEARN a few things about how to be not just a successful woman but also a ROLEMODEL and dignified standardbearer for WOMEN.

Apparently, she has not learned anything about decency and womanhood in her 'experience' when all she does is act like the stereotype we women have to put up with every day ( hysterical, kniving, emotional) or worse, pretend to represent women by imitating the WORST behavior we know from narcissistic, abusive MALES.

I want a woman as president, but NOT at all costs! I'm not willing to send my children off to a war a woman started in her quest to prove she has more testosterone than Bush.

I say Pelosi can go fly a kite. She is the lamest House speaker. We elected the dems into the House in 2006 and Pelosi decided they were going to roll over and let Bush off the hook by blocking John Conyer's impeachment proceedings against our genocidal president.
http://www.nytimes.com/cq/2006/11/08/cq_1916.html
She then led the effort by democrats to block Kucinich's call for looking into impeaching Cheny when it seemed like an investigation was timely. Why? Political reasons, of-course.

She represents the most liberal district in the country and yet is a closed door politician. She never debated another candidate in the 11 times she was elected, because she didn't have to (her district is about 13% republican). Pelosi lost me when it was revealed that she was part of a 2002 tour of CIA detention sites and torture methods, knew about water boarding, secret prisons etc and SHE DIDN'T DO A THING!
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/29250
So Pelosi can go fly a kite.

Cindy Sheehan is running for a congressional seat in Pelosi's district. She has a good chance of winning given that the strong democratic majority there is very liberal and Pelosi has not kept her promise to the American people about making changes in Washington. Excuse me, but Pelosi needs to direct her comments to Hillary. Hillary is the one who starts this sliming. If Obama takes the high road and doesnt' respond, he gets the advice that he needs to take the gloves off to defend himself. So he is damned for not playing into the vulgarity of the Clinton campaign and then damned if he defends himself.

This is total bs and the DNC need direct their slapdown to one person: Hillary Clinton.
