Pelosi Pipe Down

San Francisco Chronicle:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged both leading Democratic presidential candidates to cease their bickering, warning that the escalating rhetoric could hurt the party's chances in November.

"I would encourage both of them, as I have, to remember we have to keep our eyes on the prize, which is the general election in November," Pelosi said Friday at a luncheon in New York sponsored by Lifetime Networks and the Hearst Corp., parent company of The Chronicle.

"We are all very passionate about our politics and the issues we believe in, but we have to be very dispassionate about how we approach winning. We have to lift the debate to a place that does not turn off the American people."

Pelosi's 100% right.

And her message will be lost on the zealots of our party.

Welcome John "Hypocrite Fossil" McCain as the next president of the U.S. And we'll only have the DNC and its idiotic primary rules to blame.

If Obama overlooks Hillary as the VP since he will be the nominee with his very slin delegate lead and even slimmer popular vote lead, you will see Hiilarys delegates walk out of the convention and not show up to vote for Obama..I would never ever vote for Mcain but I dont trust or like Obama and the way he has conducted himself he is slimy....He pats you on the back while hes pissing down your leg

As Vice President, Hillary is likely to undermine Obama's presidency, if her campaigning is any indication.

Are you kidding me? This is a classic case of projection. Did Obama's camp go to the Canadians then lie about it and say it was actually Clinton's camp who did? That bullshit caused Obama a significant number of votes in Ohio and yet he is still conducting himself with class and integrity.

What exactly has Obama done to make you think he is so slimy in the first place? Have you been paying attention to all the mud, lies, and bullshit the that is coming from that cluster of a campaign that Hillary is running?

Obama points to definitive provable flaws in her record and Hillary on the other hand is content with throwing as many lies as she can fathom at Obama in the hopes that something will stick (and a lot is starting to stick...thanks dummies in Ohio, you were duped again).

Well... yes... they did.

Guess you were duped. Again. Good thing the dummies in Ohio were not.

Billary does not have what it takes to shine Barack Obama's shoes! If he gets the nomination, he will choose someone with much more "heft" for the VP than Hillary Clinton, who is a real "lightweight," who cannot tell the truth, even if her life depended upon it!!! In fact, although I am an Obama supporter, I would never vote for a ticket with Hillary at the top and Obama as the VP nominee. It would be an insult to him and to his supporters!!!

Its a bit to late Nancy, all this fighting in the DNC party is going to cost the election, and maybe even the senate and house. The Clintons have divided the party, no matter who gets the nomination, they will not beat the republicans in the fall. once again the Dumbocrates have blown another elections.

AMEN!!! Ms. Pelosi, you had better put your glasses on, and check this out closely! It has been the Clintons from the start who have been engaged in DIRTY POLITICS, the kind like "Tricky Dick" Nixon and Lee Atwater used to engage in, and the kind made famous by Karl Rove and Bill's "Poppy" Bush and his "little boy, Georgie!" The vicious fear mongering and lying engaged in by the Clintons has been disgusting, and has ALREADY damaged the Democratic Party! If my candidate, Barack Obama, the person with the most legitimate delegates, does not win the nomination, I will resign my life-long membership in the Democratic Party, become an Independent, and sit this election out. I would NEVER vote for the lying MONSTER, Hillary Clinton, no matter what!!! To put Barack Obama in the same category with her, is just another one of YOUR "abominations," to add to all of your others, like not IMPEACHING G. W. Bush!!!

Pew Research has a Poll that shows that 20% of Hillary supporters would vote for McCain if Obama became the Democratic Nominee.

On that note why should Obama supporters Vote for Hillary in a general election, considering the Clintons and their supporters are quick to dismiss as naive kids, kool-aid drinkers, delusional, and the way that one person put "the birds well sing the clouds would part, etc etc?"

Lets see how well Hillary does when half of the Democratic Party votes McCain in November!

"END CLINTON/BUSH RULE "
Vote Against Hillary in November!!!

Anyone who critiques Clinton, who doesn't support her, is anti-woman. That is hardly a feminist position. Women can do no wrong? Give me a break.

You've got it backwards denver, if HC is nominated THEN McCain has a chance. But he has little chance against Obama. Hillary is disliked and distrusted by too many who are as bitter about it as I am.

Give me a break. Keith misogynist? Is this your final argument when all the others fail? As a man I agree with pretty much all the issues the feminist movement fights for. For example, it is a disgrace that many women (if not all) who work for the federal government receive ZERO days of paid maternity leave after giving birth. My wife is in this position and she's a PhD. Oddly enough, this was also the case during the clinton administration... so where exactly was billary then, because it was well within their power to change all this!!! ? And, does this make my wife a misogynist? Compare this example with what's happening in other countries. My sister on the other hand, lives in Europe and she was a high school teacher when she had her first baby. She had two years of maternity leave and kept her job. For the first year she received 85% of her salary and for the second year she received 60% of her salary. Their government is trying to increase birth rates, but I think at least 3-6 month of maternity leave in this country will do us a ton of good.

She may be right, but she needs to stay out of it, or ALL the democrats are going to look wimpy. It's gonna take a lot of FIGHT to win this thing in the fall. Playing nicey-nice and talking hopey-dopey won't beat the republicans.

Hey, I didn't make the rules! And I don't like all the bickering either....but we need to win the WHITE HOUSE or we're ALL gonna be scratching our heads.

You can't get into that site unless you are in her district. I will pay attention to her when she put impeachment back on the table and starts the impeachment proceedings. Except for being fellow democrats, she has nothing to do with the Senators Obama and Clinton. I love how she looks and sometimes what she says, but Nancy has been a big disappointment to me so far.

You do know that the whole Naftagate thing was bullshit right? Obama has been completely cleared. It was actually the Clinton camp who went to the Canadians and then pointed the finger at the Obama camp. Even the so called memo has been proven to be bullshit.

See for yourself...

You do know that you're spouting complete bullshit, don't you?

The Canadian government has confirmed that the Clinton camp has had no dealing with them. And they have a memo proving that Obama's camp did.

Google it. Then apologize.

This is old news and you're misrepresenting what Powers said, in true lying Clintonian fashion. BTW, go back and read about the NAFTA-Canada issue. Or are you so in awe of your dynastic leader that, while dismissing over half the democratic party as cultists, you are yourself blind to her majesty's double standards.

Nancy hasn't been heard from in a YEAR, and this is what she has to say? There's only one candidate who has said the Republican would be better than their opponent -- that's Hillary. It's beyond bickering. Nancy, why don't you go give Hillary a math lesson. There is no way she can win more delegates at the ballot box than Obama can. Therefore there is no way she can be the nominee, short of overturning the will of the voters. You're the leader of the party -- get about the business of saving it. If superdelegates anoint Queen Hillary, you won't have any voters for her in the fall.

Pelosi just made herself ridiculous. Not that there's anything new about that.

Last time I looked, it was the Clinton campaign that was throwing what Hillary playfully calls the kitchen sink.

If Pelosi had an ounce of integrity she would put Hillary Clinton on notice:
that if the Clinton campaign continues to employ the Karl Rove burn-the-village strategy, they will make it clear that they are willing to put the Democratic party at risk to win the nomination; and that if Hillary's the-hell-with-everything-but-me shitstorm doesn't come to a screeching halt she will endorse Obama.

Ms. Pelosi has no right to tell anyone what to do. She has failed Miserably, pathetically, wretchedly to do her job. Maybe she likes being rolled over by the Republicans - that's why she's not telling Clinto to stop stumping for McCain.

Thanks Nancy. This comment would have been extremely helpful before HRC equated Obama
with Bush, Ken Starr etc... This would have been helpful BEFORE HRC denounced Obamas capability to hold good speeches. This would have been helpful BEFORE HRC stated that only her and McCain are capable of being President. This would have been helpful BEFORE HRC tried to mislead the public into thinking that Obama "admires" Ronald Reagan... etc...etc...etc...etc.....

Obama has remained on the "high road" so far and I hope that he remains that way. If HRC ends up squeezing herself into this nomination by utilizing Machiavellan tactics like she has been doing, and we the people cannot see through this awful playbook, then we don't deserve better.

Every country gets the leaders it deserves. What does the USA deserve ?

Logically, the only candidate that has a reason to start bickering and throwing around attacks is Hillary Clinton, primarily because she's still behind in total delegates. If Obama ignores her, then Hillary's attack becomes "see? He's too soft to handle an attack", but if he attacks her, it's portrayed as "bickering". Essentially, if Pelosi wanted the candidates to stop attacking each other for the good of the party, all she'd really have to do is to ask Hillary Clinton and her supporters to put their party ahead of their personal preferences. At this point, the only thing the Obama campaign really wants to do is to start going after McCain's record. If the Clinton campaign were smart, they'd do the same thing.
