Tucker To Journalist That Got Power Fired: "It's A Little Much Being Lectured On Journalistic Ethics By Someone From The Scotsman"

WOW: Today Tucker Carlson welcomed (er, "welcomed") British journalist Gerri Peev — aka "The Scot Heard 'Round The World" thanks to today's incendiary piece in The Scotsman wherein she quoted Barack Obama advisor Samantha Powers calling Hillary Clinton a "monster" — and the two mixed it up but good.

Tucker began from the presumption that Peev had deliberately printed a comment that was off the record; Peev maintained that anything was fair game after the parties had agreed to start and the tape recorder was rolling. Tucker thought Powers' request for clemency ought to have been good enough; Peev sniffed: "Are you really that acquiescent in the United States?" Then cameth the smackdown from Tucker: "Since journalistic standards in Great Britain are so much dramatically lower than they are here, it's a little much being lectured on journalistic ethics by a reporter from The Scotsman."

Due to satellite delay, the audience got a chance to react (i.e. mouth dropping open) before Peev did; watch for her arch "Really!" as Tucker keeps talking/insulting her. Responded Peev: "If this is the first time that candid remarks have been published about what one campaign team thinks of the other candidate, then I would argue that your journalists aren't doing a very good job of getting to the truth." Ouch.

Watch it and squirm along with the rest of us below:

On MSNBC Friday, Tucker Carlson had it out with the journalist behind the Hillary is a "monster" story over journalistic ethics. http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1446831610http://www.brightcove.com/channel.jsp?channel=1178199204

Peev knocked a home run right outta the park about the acquiescent U.S. press. And when journalists over the pond do an interview (even on their "comedy" shows) they stay with it and get to the bottom of a question rather than vapidly accepting the first (non)answer or dodge. Our press could learn a lot from them. I'm an Obama supporter who feels Powers knew the rules and stepped in it. But Peev rightfully ran with it. Matthews, Carlson and, I suspect, you might learn how it's really done.

Tucker Carlson annoys the hell out of me, but he impressed the hell out of me twice: once, by breaking the story that Bush had characterized Carla Fae Tucker's death row appeals as "Mr Bush, please don't kill me" in a mocking falsetto. The second was when after Bush was elected, he wrote an article about their relationship with the press. On Karen Hughes, he wrote something like, "I've been lied to by the press before; it's incredibly common. But what's unusual about dealing with someone like Karen Hughes is that time-and-again in interview with her we've reached the point where it's clear to me that she's lying, and clear to her that I know she's lying, but she continues to do it nevertheless. It's one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had; it's almost like you aren't there."

And he's right about the UK press. They're awful. Their GOOD newspapers are New York Post quality.

As a chronicler of this centuries worst genocides, Samantha Powers knows a monster when she sees one.

What's really hysterical about this is that Tucker apparently considers himself a journalist! Now that's funny stuff...

tucker carlson, who knew you were so cool? you were the only one who didn't bend over backwards to accomodate this journalist, who seemed altogether much too satisfied with herself. i never thought i'd say this (esp. after seeing you on Dancing with the Stars lol), but tucker, you rock!

The lady just proved how much quicker a woman can think and respond without warning. Tucker, as usual, looked foolish. It reminds of Hillary and Obama. Maybe that's why the press always asks her questions first? She doesn't need as much time to think about it and respond. Got ya, Tucker!

This lady really acted like an adult who was schooling a child and that was exactly what happened. Tucker is an embarrassment. Is it me, or is our country producing fewer and fewer people who behave and think as adults?

I am sorry americas, but the USA media has a history of not asking he right questions at the right time, for the last 10 years. On very important issues.
Don´t get upset if non amerian media gets more concrete information.
You alway forget (very conveniently) that the world is affected by US politics, not just your lovely country suffers the conscuences. And yes, we from "the outside" better participate and contribute, even if you get irritated.

Tucker/MSM/GOP using this story, any story to take heat off of McCain -- why are they not asking for Vicki Eiseman to come forward -- no one has heard a peep from her!

"Are you really that acquiescent in the United States?" Yeah - but it dependds on who you are and how much power you have...when Bush and Cheney went before the 9/11 Commission-together ,without being under oath (like Rice) and with no record whatsoever of what they said -there should have been white-hot outrage that apparently the President and Vice-President would have something to say about the worst attack on America in its history ,but they cannot swear to tell the truth about it and no record can even EXIST of what they said. Instead , we got...not mucha nothin'. There was more coverage of Powers calling Cliinton a "monster' than there was of that flagrant middle finger to the forehead of America that B&C flipped.

Not a big Tucker fan, but I sure liked his zing about being lectured by the sleezy British press. Her expression was delicious.

Poor Samatha! The reality is Obama fired her for telling the truth - that Obama will not follow up on his commitment on Iraq.

Just like NAFTA.

Tucker Carlson is a tool. His journalistic ethics is way lower than Gerri Peev. And she was right. Our journalists (especially MSNBC) are not doing their job in telling the truth about Obama.

Obviously it is the policies of the Bush administration that have put the last few nails in the coffin of any remaining respect and admiration the U.S. had internationally.

Let me tell you though, it is someone very like this insufferable dweeb Tucker Carlson that comes to mind when people around the world fulminate on WHY it actually is that they really don't LIKE Americans by and large.

The video provided here is priceless....Watch as our international representative,...Mr. Carlson,..... whips out his teeny-weenie and bangs it on the table, bellowing ..."This is AMERICA.!!....WE got STANDARDS!!!.....They're LOW....but,..by God,.......we GOT 'EM!!"....

Disgusting....pathetic....typical................................................................................tm

Obama is a thiking person who can think on his feet and is nothing like W. He excelled in school at the highest levels and cared enough about humanity to take a low paying job as a community organizer on the south side of Chicago after graduating from Harvard law school. W. never showed concern for his fellow man.
