George Clooney sat for an interview with the April issue of Esquire magazine, and People got a sneak peak. The actor/director/activist gamely answered all the rumors and stories out their about him.

Last fall, Clooney and Fabio got in an argument at an LA restaurant, when Clooney thought Fabio's dinner partners were snapping his picture. Fabio later told Details, "I should have beat Clooney's ass!" George tells Esquire that the fake butter spokesman probably could have beaten him up:

"Yeah, that's probably true. He's a big guy. There is a moment when you are actually in the argument and you're thinking, 'If I do get beaten down by Fabio, that will be far worse than the pain. I wouldn't shake that.'"

He also goes through other rumors that show up in google:

• When Esquire discovers a Web site that calls Clooney "gay, gay, gay," the good-natured actor quips, "No, I'm gay, gay. The third gay - that was pushing it."

• Donald Trump's recent "short guy" comments about Clooney. George, who is 5- feet 11-inches tall, responds, "I saw Donald Trump on Larry King and he was saying, 'Clooney is a very short guy. I mean he's a tiny guy.' I've met Donald Trump once, and I was sitting at a table. He came over, shook my hand, and walked away. I guess I looked about three foot five sitting at that table."

• They also surface a quote from Rupert Everett criticizing Clooney's Ocean's movies as a "cancer," to which Clooney replies: "Where did that come from? You kind of go, Dude, weren't you in Dunston Checks in?"

I can watch Oh Brother, Where Art Thou over and over. One of my favorite Clooney films. He's the whole package handsome, great sense of humor, and all around great guy.

Looks, wit, intelligence, a sense of humor and a willingness to campaign for things he believes in, and has anyone handled these awful curses with such casual and good natured aplomb?
Clooney, Bush and Boy...'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', when it comes to Georges.

Intelligent, talented, good-looking, smooth and witty -- what a dynamite combination. Add to that a commitment to making the planet a better place, and Clooney is what Fabio, Trump and Everett WISH they were.

I couldn't agree more, "Pennsylvanianne". You said it! Clooney is an A+ all the way around.

Anybody who doesn't mind admitting that Fabio could whup his butt knows who he is. Clooney is an original: a star who's comfortable in his own skin as a man and and actor, who appreciates the art form he toils in while laughing at the absurdity of the business that makes it happen. Gotta love him.

George Clooney makes great movies, obeys the laws, for all I know, doesn't go to rehab every 15 minutes, doesn't beat his lover (regardless of their sex), does a hell of a lot of good for the destitute in many areas of the world, so who the hell cares if he is or isn't gay?

Oh, I almost forgot...idiots care.

As open as Clooney seems to be in his everyday life, I think he would dispense with the starlets, start going out with charming young men, and tell the Hollywood pundits to take a hike. In other words: he's straight, straight, straight.

A class act on and off screen.

Clooney is great. Classy guy, for the most part makes good movies, easy on the eyes, but why, why, why is this a worthy news story? Even for a "page 6" section? Why am I even wasting my time writing this comment? Donald Trump is a toad, a 6'4" toad. For a second I confused Rupert Everette with Murdoch, but seriously, what has Rupert Murdoch done? Good zinger about Dunston checks in. And the gay thing? Probably someones wishful thinking?

Trump...

Why can't I hate this guy?

The only bastard who can get away with what he does in my mind.

It sounds like Clooney has a good sense of humor about himself...he is also talented and sexy. Name an actor who has made 100% "quality" films...Clooney's record in this area is actually not that bad. He has stature (not just in his 5' 11" height, but in his personality. Yep, he is "just an actor". But I have to admire him a lot more than Fabio, Trump etc.

When you are on one side of the table and the people on the other side criticizingly you are Esquire, Everett, Trump and some freak like Fabio - I'd say you doing pretty damn well. In fact, it shows you have character.
