Bill Clinton On Joint Ticket

Reuters:

Hillary and Bill Clinton are again teaming up on Barack Obama -- this time saying the first-term U.S. lawmaker, whom they have derided as inexperienced, would be a strong running mate on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by the former first lady.

In talking up a joint ticket, the Clintons may be seeking the upper hand, attempting to put her in consideration for the top of the ticket when she so far has failed to win the votes necessary to assure that she would face Republican presidential candidate John McCain in the November election.

The maneuver may also be aimed at countering an image in voters' minds of Obama as presidential material and at helping restore an aura of inevitability as the party's nominee that Clinton had early in the campaign but lost.

"The Clintons are in a difficult position," said Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University in Iowa, who has tracked the presidential race.

Hey Nochnoi!

I found a one or two others but not much going on. I'm protesting the heavy-handed moderation by only posting on open threads.

Hell no, we won't queue!

That, my friend, will never happen. Obama is to smart and to eariy in his political career to commit political suicide. Hillary is so out of touch with reality that one almost feel sorry for her. She is a scorned woman (thanks to Bill) that has never resolved his infidelity and never will. Maybe if Bill would have done his duty to his wife instead of his flings, Hillary would not be trying to do this to the Nation.

No shame to her game. Please God, don't let the American people fall for this version of a stolen election.

All right, this is my last post on this thread until later tonight (if it's still here).
And what I am about to say is straightforward, i.e. no sarcasm intended, no gloating intended, etc.
Where are all the Hillary supporters? There are now 863 entries, and I've been here since about 307, and I've only come across two, three at the most. Did they stay away because they knew we'd all be here going nuts over this 'dream ticket' fiasco? Or, instead, were they ashamed for Hillary and didn't want to face us? A third possibility is that they have the same kind of aversion to Obama that we have to Hillary ,and they are angry and even shocked that she would offer him the Veep, even by suggestion. Usually they, like us, are on these threads in droves. Maybe I simply missed them.
The reason I ask is because if it gets so that even her supporters have to turn their heads away in shame and even disgust, she is done for. Just about every entry on this thread has the same complaints, the same outrage, the same disbelief. I've never seen such agreement on a thread. And if it is here, it might be 'out there' too. I live in hope.
One thing I believe. One of these days, if it hasn't already happened, Hillary is going to wear out the loyalty of even her most diehard fans. Unless she stops it---but can she?
She reminds me of a gerbal or hamster when they run and run and run on those litlle treadmill-type things. Wheels. Running and running, as if in a trance, until they drop with fatigue.

Hillary supporters only come here to gloat when she squeaks by for one of her victories in the "states that matter".

I cannot wait until Mississippi!

I want to see this rich, entitled white cow try to dazzle the local African Americans with her divisive bullshit. No doubt Hillary hopes to find African Americans stupid or naive enough to believe that Barack would want to have anything to do with her on a ticket with him.

Hill-Billies; time for you two to return to the trailer park in Arkansas you sprung out from!

African Americans are the most loyal voting block in the Democratic Party and Hillary is treating them like shit. If she steals the election from Obama many African Americans will just not choose to vote this fall. Hillary is attacking Obama more viciously than one Democrat has ever attacked another Democrat in a presidential race and this is not going unrecognized by the African American community.

In TX primary, Hillary won the popular vote only because the Hispanic community voted for her in droves, but these voters voted for Bush the last two years. Since traditional Democratic strongholds are properly given more delegates than areas that supported Bush in the last election, that's why Hillary barely won the delegate count in the Texas primary and lost in the caucus.

DESPICABLE......look in the dictionary and there will be a picture of the entire Clinton campaign.
Behind in everything they continue to magnanimously talk about Barack Obama as veep. They continue to view the electorate as stupid enough to fall for their filthy little game. I'd love to see the msm remind people of these facts, but they are on a Clinton, let's keep it coming roll. I watched CNN this Sunday (for the last time) and watched the weekend c team at work. Misquote, misinformation and scurrilous (not scuriolous, Hil) talk about Obama's inability to pretty much do anything. Rick Sanchez the bombastic idiot of the weekend has not a single fact and continues to spout the Clinton line of bull. His team included a Bush aide and Hillary supporter with a journalist who must work for the moron news. Taking a page from Faux they filled a day with drivel! LThe Wyoming caucus got a wink and barely a nod. They also upped her delegate count by about 50. She is a very bad joke and someone needs to continue pointing out who is actually ahead even though they're in states that "don't matter". I wonder how those states feel.

Hillary is reminding me more and more of George W. Bush. Why? She completely ignores reality. She praises McCain, but plays down Obama? Which party is she for? She does not have any principle as a politician, which is why she voted for the war in Iraq which is costing us 12 billion dollars a month. I just can't trust a politican like Hillary.

This is total Clinton spin and manipulation. Reality Check for Hillary Clinton: you're LOSING, girl, and I don't believe Mr. Obama is likely to extend the same invitation to you once he is nominated. Better luck... NEVER!

Clinton/Obama 2008. Such a deal would make a lot of sense: Obama would be getting a vice-presidential nomination that he presumably would have been delighted with a year ago, that suits his experience level, and that would probably keep him from having to go back to the U.S. Senate, which he doesn't appear to relish. And he could convince himself that this is the right thing for his party and the country (Hillary wouldn't be so moved by such considerations). It would be the only way to end the race cleanly before the convention.

How magnanimous of Clinton to offer Obama the VP slot when she is LOSING to him, and has just trashed him by saying McCain if more fit to be CIC than he is. The woman is SHAMELESS! God, please, Superdelegates, step up and stand up for the will of the people - retire this Machiavellian bitch.

Driving Miss Hillary? Gonna let the black boy who leads her in votes and delegates into her car? She just can't get that racism gene out of her system, can she?

This "deal would make a lot of sense" if Senator Obama was the underdog in this election; but since he is, for all intent and purpose, the forerunner, it makes no sense at all. Perhaps it would make better sense if Hillary was given the VP position, since she is trying to conflate her role as First Lady with some of the administrative responsibilities of VP during President Clinton's term in the White House; and it would probably keep her from having to go back to the U.S. Senate where she did less in six years than Senator Obama did in his first year as Senator and in the eleven years of his experience as an elected official; and it would be the right thing for the Party and for the country; but you're right ... Hillary would not be moved by such considerations, which is evident in her apparent intention to manipulate the outcome of this race before the convention.

It's just amazing how devious the Clinton's are. Hillary talking about how she'd consider Barack to be HER Vice President simultaneously making him look like a weak candidate needing HER tutelage. She is totally covering up the fact that she is LOSING while making herself look like some unity loving candidate that we know she is not. The Clinton power couple and their camp obviously have no shame and only care about one thing, themselves. They will say and do anything to get back in power. This is not the type of people we need in the White House anymore. She really sickens me and with each passing day any good feelings I may have had for that family have been worn away.
Barack should stay strong, continue his type of campaign while undercutting all of this unity ticket crap with every surrogate he has and use humor to mock her idea every chance he gets.

This is no dream ticket! Who would ever want to work with this monster, this power-driven, cynical, and unethical person who is, by the way, afflicted with bad judgment (she helped enable the Iraq invasion)? This Democrat will not consider voting for any ticket on which she appears! I'd suggest that Mr. Obama create an Independent party, if the Democrats fail to nominate him, as they should.

Love how the Clintons sit back and smile and watch you people spit, spew and sputter. For pod people following this supposed inspiration guru, you have that way of conversation only matched by pea soup and Linda Blaire. Why, I never! We'll just watch this "movement" implode as you "say the wrong thing" more mob scandals erupt, more of his Sybil faces appear. It's fun and better for you than TV

Obama has won nothing. Obama, like Clinton cannot reach 2025 with elected delegates. The way this is shaking out they will end up about 125 elected delegates apart. So for all practical purposes this is a tie. By the rules you need 2025 delegates to win the Democratic presidential nomination, not the majority of elected delegates or the majority of the popular vote or the majority of the states. So no going into the convention with his lead in elected delegates, Obama has not earned the nomination. There is a good chance Clinton will tie Obama in popular votes. And then if Florida and Michigan voters are allowed to participate Clinton will pull even closer in delegates and ahead in popular vote, so what. BTW: If Clinton was ahead by such a small amount would the Obama supporters now be saying Obama should drop out of the race?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:16 AM on 03/10/2008

Personally, I do not think that Senator Clinton should drop out of the race. However, winning the battles is the first step to winning the war; and at this point, Senator Obama is winning the battles in number of states won, in popular votes, and in delegates. A difference of 125 delegates is NOTa tie, which is something that even the Clinton campaign realizes and why they are trying to win enough delegates to bridge that gap. If Florida and Michigan are allowed to vote, which I think they should be, there is also the possibility that with Senator Obama's name actually on the ballot in Michigan and with the opportunity given to the electorate in Florida and Michigan to witness the character of the campaigns and candidates over the last few weeks, the outcome of one or both of the elections may actually benefit Senator Obama or at the very least prove less fruitful for Senator Clinton even if she wins, which would in effect not change the dynamics of the election at all. Neither candidate can win 2025 delegates, but in all other respects, Senator Obama holds an impressive lead, and to diminish this by saying that "Obama has won nothing" is sheer denial!
