Bill Clinton On Joint Ticket

Reuters:

Hillary and Bill Clinton are again teaming up on Barack Obama -- this time saying the first-term U.S. lawmaker, whom they have derided as inexperienced, would be a strong running mate on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by the former first lady.

In talking up a joint ticket, the Clintons may be seeking the upper hand, attempting to put her in consideration for the top of the ticket when she so far has failed to win the votes necessary to assure that she would face Republican presidential candidate John McCain in the November election.

The maneuver may also be aimed at countering an image in voters' minds of Obama as presidential material and at helping restore an aura of inevitability as the party's nominee that Clinton had early in the campaign but lost.

"The Clintons are in a difficult position," said Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University in Iowa, who has tracked the presidential race.

When will Hillary and Bill stop labeling people WHO LIVE in the South STUPID. Apparently they believe southerners don't own TELEVISIONS or COMPUTERS.

Perhaps their MINDSET is to go there and tell the "PRIMITIVE-MINDED" folks----"We're winning this battle. However, we thought it would be great to ADD Obama to the ticket to assure a win in November SINCE most of "YOU FOLKS" here are so fond of HIM." (KNOWING HILLARY IS BEHND)

WOW !!!! The CLINTONS' insults never stop.

I wonder what stategy the Clintons will use in PENNSYLVANIA? Whatever it is I AM CERTAIN it will be condecending AND indignant.

Hillary hasn't realized that she is no longer the "inevitable nominee". Hillary is slow.

I know how intelligent and informed Hillary supporters are so I was very heartened when I saw video showing them wildly applauding her idea of the "Dream Ticket" of Obama and Clinton on the campaign trail . As they are so informed, they know he is far ahead in popular vote, delegates, cash and momentum so I'm glad they are will for Hillary to be his VP. I don't agree and think he should have someone else as his VP but it's still nice to see her supporters backing him so strongly....I guess unlike her, they can see him as commander in chief , being able to pick up a phone and as more than just a speech.

"Dream Ticket" . Political imposture - plain and simple!
The words only remind me of Bush's mantra, "The War on Terror". I am sure to some citizens of this country that "sound bite" seemed legitimate and patriotic at one point. Through the test of time it has become evident that "The War on Terror" was nothing more than a fear mongering maneuver to fuel the personal, emotional and financial agendas of Bush and his cronies. How could this happen to such a great country? Does anyone remember Bush-Gore-Florida? Bush and his campaign cheated and lied their way there, incriminating the political system in the process. We have been plagued by eight years of Bush's blatant disregard for America's well being.
Hillary is going green, she's merely recycling Bush's political tactics to seat herself in the White House.
The "Dream Ticket" tactic is being used to appeal to our fears of losing the election to McCain and the republicans. Hillary is conniving in her attempt. We've seen the results of how "fear mongering" can drive a president and a nation. She has blatantly disregarded the terms she agreed to abide by for the primaries. In all the times she and her campaign have mentioned this "dream ticket", have they once mentioned that this is something Sen.Obama is interested in pursuing. Hillary is a megalomaniac! I am confident that the maneuvers she employs during this campaign are only a sample of the Bush-esque tactics and decisions she'll make if we are unfortunate enough to have her as president.
Hillary is nothing short of divisive to the Democratic Party. America will not be the better if Hillary is successful in her attempt to steal the nomination from Sen.Obama. As a party we will be disillusioned and divided. The Democratic Party should hold her accountable and insist that she play by the rules.

JFK had to make a smiliar deal with LBJ in '60- and LBJ despised Kennedy. All that matters is that McCain is defeated next year. However, Clinton will not do it- only Obama can beat McCain. So if there is one ticket- Obama has to get the top spot.

But Cheney put too much power into the VP job. He's have to take all that away from HRC.

Yup! They were oil and water, but JKF & LBJ worked it together. I am thinking that a lot of the young people who are so vehemently anti-Hillary Clinton will feel betrayed if Barack Obama teams up with her. The objective for the Democratic Party is to defeat John McCain. Whatever it takes. If Mr. Obama wants to be the party candidate, he has to work within the party framework. If he wanted to reject party politics, then he should have run as an Independent.

The only candidate with whom Sen. Clinton has the most in common, and with whom she can "cross that threshold" to where Foreign Governments can gleefully buy and peddle their influence in creating and shaping foreign policy in America, and where Corporate lobbyists can buy self-serving interests that put more financial hardships and burdens on ordinary Americans, and where the notion of sending our troops into military combat in Iraq was an issue that Sen. Clinton agreed with the Republicans about - is John McCain.

Senator Clinton and John McCain could run together on the same ticket!
They would make the perfect match.

Rush Limbaugh has even been pushing his supporters to cast their vote for Senator Clinton, as he sees the Republican ideology in her, tracing back to her roots.

Why not have a RepublicDEMS ticket - that puts Senator Clinton and John McCain on the same ticket together, for a DUAL-PRESIDENCY that they can both share.
They agree an almost everything, and would be a perfect match together.
It could be the MC-CLINTON TICKET.

Barack Obama could run and win against BOTH of them!
An Obama-Clinton ticket seems out of the question.
There are too many fundamental issues where Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are literally coming from opposite sides of the spectrum.
Senator Clinton has much more in common with Senator McCain.

Senator Obama needs a VP candidate who espouses the belief in a change from the old way of functioning in Washington that ignores the voters interests.
Senator Obama needs a VP candidate who truly does espouse change that WE the people can beleive in.

Nothing coming from Sen. Clinton points to change, and it is increasingly more difficult to trust her or to see her as someone that the voter can believe in.

Senator Clinton has become Senator Hide it from the people.

She doesn't FOLLOW UP ON TRANSPARENCY by releasing her income taxes and allowing the VOTERS to SEE WHO FUNDS HER INCOME, thus explaining to America how accepting funding from lobbyists representing Dubai and Turkey - could somehow be suggestive of AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY, when Sen. Clinton is allowing FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS to PURCHASE OPPORTUNITIES TO SHAPE HOW AMERICA WILL INTERFACE WITH FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS.

That's not American foreign policy.
It's not even democracy - that is reflective of America's voice.
It's an exchange for self-interests ( funding for Sen. Clinton) in exchange for FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS influencing AMERICA'S FOREIGN POLICY.

SENATOR OBAMA"S FOREIGN POLICY WILL BE SHAPED BY AMERICANS...
NOT BY FOREIGN COUNTRIES BUYING THEIR WAY INTO SHAPING AMERICA'S FOREIGN POLICY'S.

WE NEED A VP WHO CAN RUN WITH SEN. OBAMA AS A CANDIDATE FOR RESTORING EVERYTHING THAT AMERICA ONCE WAS AND WHO WILL WORK WITH SENATOR OBAMA TO BUILD UP AMERICAN INTERESTS - NOT THE INFLUENCING OF FOREIGN POLICY THROUGH THE PURCHASE OF INFLUENCE IN HOW AMERICA WILL REGARD FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS, AS IS ALREADY TAKING PLACE WITH SENATORS MC-CLINTON.

PEDDALING OF FOREIGN INTERESTS IN AMERICA - THAT ALLOW FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS TO PURCHASE AND BUY INFLUENCE IN AMERICA'S FOREIGN POLICIES, IS THE ANTITHESIS OF WHAT AMERICA STANDS FOR - AND IS NOT AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY!!!

Such conduct is paid for foreign government influence - that becomes peddaled as America's foreign policy!

WHO WILL SHAPE AMERICA'S FOREIGN POLICY?
Turkey, Dubai?
Or AMERICANS?

Senator Obama does NOT accept federal lobbyist money in his campaign for the presidency of the United States because of the BLATANT CONFLICT OF INTEREST ( intergrity matters) that such conduct demonstrates.

Another reason to vote for Senator Obama as our next president!

The Clinton's campaign resembles Vince McMahon petitioning the Olympic Committee that the WWF should represent the USA in Beijing because they've been vetted. They're fighters who know what to do with punks. Carnivals Happen.

Obama needs a dead vulture wrapped around his neck more than he needs hillary on his ticket.

The GOP would love this however since it would get the faithful out to vote in record numnbers against the clintons.

I agree with Independent_voter. If Senator Obama is the nominee, the last person he should consider for VP is Hillary Clinton. First of all, he would be inviting both Hillary and Bill into his administration, and they've already demonstrated the damage they can do to him, to the Party, and ultimately to the country when they put their heads together. Bill was a good president, but Bill and Hillary as co-Vice Presidents would be a nightmare. Secondly, they (the Clintons) are not only HATED by the Republicans, but they have stirred up quite a bit of hostility among the Democratic base as well, and an Obama/Clinton ticket would repel more voters than it would solicit support. On the other hand, if Senator Clinton is the nominee, she would almost have to put Senator Obama on her ticket to save herself and the Party; but I doubt seriously if Senator Obama would accept such an offer.

The people who want this the most are Republicans. They would love an election of McCain against Clinton-Obama- especially if Obama was the Veep. They know damn well Clinton is beatable- but they are scared ****less of Obama and the HUGE turnout of young people his nomination would ensure.

A Rasmussen poll released over the weekend gives Barack Obama a 14-point lead for tomorrow's Mississippi primary:

Obama 53%, Clinton 39%.

God Damn it feels good to be an Obaman today! He's gonna win this thing! The numbers don't lie.

It's certainly not a good sign. Still, I understand the anger and frustration that some are feeling. It appears that Clinton and some of her superdelegates are content with stealing the election, and some people are angry about that.

Supposing that Hillary were to get the Nom, which of the following is the worst? This survey is just for Obama supporters.

(a) Not voting at all
(b) Voting for Hillary
(c) Voting for McCain

Hmmmmmm.

You should probably add (d) Third Party for completeness sake.

If the party nominates Hillary, it will be when Obama is up more than 100 pledged delegates, clearly against the will of the people. After being told by my party that our opinion truly does not matter, the most likely answer would be A or D; B or C would be incomprehensible.

I will vote, but not for Clinton or McCain. For some of us this election is not simply about Democrats versus Republicans, but about taking our country back to the principles and traditions upon which it was founded. We foolishly believed that any Democrat could be trusted to do that. After watching the manner in which Senator Clinton has conducted herself and her campaign during the past weeks, I don't see much difference between her and what's in the White House now, or any other Rovian Republican. If our next President is one who is likely to continue with the GOP style of politics and governing, I would rather it be a Republican who carries us further down the road to destruction. Then I can at least continue with a few illusions about the Democrats as I switch my affiliation to Independent.

I hate to answer it that way, but I sort of have to say "It Depends" on the popular vote.

If she is clean swept in Delegates, # states, and popular vote, then I think she has no legitimate case for the nomination and she needs to step aside. So, if she lost all three of those (and two of them are a certainty) and still managed to get the nomination, I would NOT vote for her.

If she won popular vote, I would consider voting for her, but it wouldn't be a slam dunk. I still find the fact that this election will have ballots cast by voters who have never been alive for something other than a Bush or Clinton Presidency to be somehow wrong -- there's just a dynasty quality to it that I'm not comfortable with.

I didn't mean, with this litle survey, for anyone to reveal how they would vote; it was just to get us all thinking about it. At present, I can't say what I would do---other than not select (b). That is out.

The Clintons are truly shameless. One minute, they're saying Obama is unqualified to be commander-in-chief. Now they're saying he's qualified enough to be within a heartbeat of it. Make up your mind. And if you think Obama supporters will vote for Hillary thinking that Obama will be VP, think again. None of us want to see him as your VP. Besides, everyone knows you're not serious about taking him as your VP. You're just saying that now but then you'll pick someone else once you have the nomination.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:55 AM on 03/10/2008

Of course she's suggesting that. She *needs* him on her ticket far more than he needs her on his -- and the reason is simple:

Her strategy right now is to get the nomination from him despite the fact that she will most likely be behind in delegates at the end of the primaries in June. If she's successful in that she needs to find a way to make the voters who supported Obama not feel like she completely hosed him and stole the nomination. If they feel that way, many could stay home in November, and then we're looking at President McCain. That is a hard sell either way, but it's a much, much harder sell if he's not even on the ticket.

And even setting aside the large African American majority that he holds (since they, as a group, support the Democrats pretty consistently), the Democrats want to find a way to hang on to all of the young voters that have gotten involved in the process in support of Obama. As the saying goes -- you never get a second chance to make a first impression. And some type of back room deal to determine the nominee is NOT a good strategy for keeping those votes on your side.
