Bill Clinton On Joint Ticket

Reuters:

Hillary and Bill Clinton are again teaming up on Barack Obama -- this time saying the first-term U.S. lawmaker, whom they have derided as inexperienced, would be a strong running mate on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by the former first lady.

In talking up a joint ticket, the Clintons may be seeking the upper hand, attempting to put her in consideration for the top of the ticket when she so far has failed to win the votes necessary to assure that she would face Republican presidential candidate John McCain in the November election.

The maneuver may also be aimed at countering an image in voters' minds of Obama as presidential material and at helping restore an aura of inevitability as the party's nominee that Clinton had early in the campaign but lost.

"The Clintons are in a difficult position," said Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University in Iowa, who has tracked the presidential race.

I also hear that Huckabee is offering McCain a spot as his VP.

Seriously, I've thought that a clever strategic move for Obama would be to choose a VP for himself now that disarms the whole "inexperience" issue and simultaneously does away with this VP BS the Clintons are trying to pull to diminish him and fool voters.

Why does he need to wait for the convention? And, the right choice might stampede Super Delegates to him as well.

Fantasy 3.58
A live press conference with Hillary.
Blah, blah, blah.
Then a journalist says this:
"Senator Clinton, you have said that you have a lifetime of experience that has prepared you for the presidency, and that Senator McCain has the same. You then say, rather caustically, that all Senator Obama has is one speech he gave in 2002. You have repeatedly insisted that he has virtually no experience. How is it, then, that your campaign is floating the idea of a Clinton-Obama ticket? Surely, a vice-president needs to be, if I might borrow one of your soundbites, ready on day one. Just in case the president drops dead. You must think he has SOME experience, enough for us not to question your judgement in choosing him as a running mate. But if he does, then you haven't been honest with the voters, in saying he has virtually none. You seem to be trapped, Senator, between either being dishonest or showing poor judgement. How do you respond to this?"
"Why, you little &*#!+=**%.~£!!!"!

Besides being total narcissists people with BPD tend to have "drama queen" syndrome because they always want to be surrounded by chaos and disorder. See attached NYT article on the Hillaryland freak show.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/10/us/politics/10clinton.html?hp

"“You may not like the person next to you,” Ms. Williams told dozens of aides who ringed the conference room at the campaign’s Virginia headquarters last month, according to participants. “But you’re going to respect them. And we’re going to work together.”

Ms. Williams’s demand was dismissed as wishful thinking by some in her weary audience. But in the view of many Clinton supporters, it accurately reflected the urgent need to overhaul a campaign that at that point had set itself apart for its level of disorder and dysfunction.

The divisions in her campaign over strategy and communications — and the dislike many of her advisers had for one another — poured out into public as Mrs. Clinton struggled in February to hold off Mr. Obama in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

But even as Mrs. Clinton revived her fortunes last week with victories in Ohio, Rhode Island and Texas, the questions lingered about how she managed her campaign, with the internal sniping and second-guessing undermining her well-cultivated image as a steady-at-the-wheel chief executive surrounded by a phalanx of loyal and efficient aides."

Face it Hillary thrives on this level of dis-function. Can you imagine what her white house would look like?

You hit the nail on the head. I just could not live with my conscience if I voted for Hillary. I cannot live with the fact that she authorized the war costing hundreds of thousands of lives. I cannot live knowing that she would throw another Democrat under the bus just to get elected. I cannot live with enabling another 8 years of a scandal ridden white house.

In the long run it will be better for the Democratic Party if she fails now, even if we have to live with McCrazy for the next four years. Billary did irreparable damage to the Democratic Party.

-We lost congress for 12 years.

-We lost Al Gore as president for 12 years.

-We lost majorities in state houses and Governorships for several years.

-We lost our moral standing as Democrats for 12 years.

We have far too much to lose if Billary steals the nomination than we have to gain.

Yes. During the Monica thing, I read an article---sorry, I can't remember where it was or which journalist authored it---and it said that the Clintons, when they were in Arkansas, 'went through people's lives like a tornado'. I remember that sentence. It said that they were ruthless and merciless. (It's odd, but it's just about impossible to describe the Clintons without falling into metaphor, you see it everywhere, in articles and books and in live analysis on tv. I do it myself. The stronger the personality you are trying to describe, the more you need metaphor. For ordinary words just don't work.)
Anyway, they are horrific.

Hillary will destroy the Democratic Party by buying her way to the nomination with backdoor deals and ugly politics, and then losing to McCain in the end. Eight years of McCain... great. We're toast.

No doubt that is exactly what she is going to try to do.

Obama is the only candidate that can unite the Democratic Party behind him. Hillary has already used her greatest strength, the ability to polarize by splitting the Democratic party in two. She could have bowed out gracefully after losing 11 contests in a row like Edwards and the other Democratic candidates before her but she chose the scorched earth path to steal the nomination.

It is now more imperative that Obama win the nomination because he is the only candidate that can mend the parties wounds. Clinton supporters may think that Obama supporters would unify around her if she steals the nomination, but it is simply not true.

Senator Obama has been uniting people from every walk of life... if ever there has been a true Uniter... It would be him.... Of course.... it has so much to do with the current climate here in America.... He is the spokesperson for a movement of Americans who are completely, and utterly unsatisfied with the way things have been going.... We are the revolution.... he is the one we are choosing to speak for us... ; )

It is painfully obvious to Democrats who are paying attention to this nomination process that Obama is running against McClinton. After Hillary's unprecedented comments today that McSame will be a better president than Obama, Hillary has sunk to a new low. Any Hillaryland supporter that still thinks she is running for president to help this country has been totally discredited. Hillary is running this campaign for her own ends (period).

If Hillary thinks that McSame would be a better president than Obama she should just run as McSame's VP. She and McSame have so many of the same policies and traits in common anyway.

-Both are extremely hawkish and have EXACTLY the same voting records on Iraq and Iran.

-Both would not talk to our enemies.

-Both have 20 or more lobbyists in there campaign or as fund raisers.

-Both are probusiness to a fault and take PAC money from corporations.

-Both do not believe in change, hope or unity.

-Both measure experience by their corrupt lives in Washington politics.

-Both use fear to get themselves elected.

-Both have notorious tempers.

-Both are come from a long line of Republicans.

-Both appeal to the same demographic, older white people.

-Both use smear and fear tactics to divide the Democratic party.

-Both are fighters especially with those of their same party.

-Both favor NAFTA. Remember it has now come out that it was the McClinton campaign that were told to take their NAFTA rhetoric with "a grain of salt".

A vote for McClinton in the next primary is a vote for McSame no matter how you look at it.

"It is painfully obvious to Democrats who are paying attention to this nomination process that Obama is running against McClinton"

That number is not as large as us blog regulars would like to believe. And this is why Obama needs take shots...accurate and pointed, not slanderous, but shots nonetheless. Because most people will get their info from the headlines on TV or in the paper, and those mediums rarely articulate some of the facts you stated, KQuark.

It's frustrating because for most of us who have the time or the gumption to take the time to follow this thing, the choice is clear....I know he's gotta stay positive but he's gotta hit back as well because right now her message, her attacks are getting out. they're dominating, they're reinforcing her campaign themes and people are eating them up no matter how skewed they might be

Here's something from a comment of mine posted about 5 days ago.

Personal advantages to Hillary of a Clinton/Obama '08 ticket:
(1) the most obvious one: she eliminates the competition
(2) she avoids a dogfight in denver that she knows half the country would blame her for, were it to happen (there goes her legacy)
(3) she uses him to campaign for her, up and down the country
(4) she benefits from his gift of oratory (one she knows she doesn't have) that can sway big, big crowds
(5) she gets all his votes, millions and millions and millions of them and,
and this is the big one,
(6) she gets every last one of his delegates---the ones he fought so hard for
Personal advantages to Obama of a Clinton/Obama '08 ticket:

one big fat goose egg.

The witch! Witch??? Hillary is Attila the Hun, Medea, and Lucrezia Borgia, all in one!

Look Al Gore would be our president today if it was not for all the scandals in the Clinton white house. The Clintons are radioactive to any Democrat they touch. If she does steal the nomination Obama would never run with her and she will lose the general. While I would never vote for McCrazy, I would never vote for Hillary either. Actually I would rather have McCrazy as president because at least he has some honor and integrity. We would just have to wait another four years for Obama to be president.

I have voted for the Democratic nominee in every presidential election I could vote since 1984. I refuse to condone Hillary's smear and fear tactics and cannot support a person with ZERO integrity. I am sick and tired of making excuses for the Clinton's corrupt behavior just because they are in my beloved Democratic Party. If the main goal is to get a Democrat back into the white house why does Hillary say that McCrazy would be a better candidate than a fellow Democrat? Get real all Hillary cares about is Hillary, she does not give a shit about the Democratic Party.

Dick Morris wrote a great article about the effect of Hillary stealing the election.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/its_still_over_for_hillary.html

"Left out of the entire equation is poor John McCain. Unable to get a word in edgewise and unsure of which Democrat to attack, he will have to watch from the sidelines as Hillary and Obama hog the headlines. If the superdelegates deliver the nomination to Hillary in the dead of night without leaving fingerprints at the crime scene, McCain's nomination will be worth having. If Obama prevails, it won't be worth the paper on which it is written. The giant killer, Obama will have soared to new heights of popularity and McCain won't be able to bring him back to Earth in the nine weeks that will remain."

AMEN to that!!! Bill Clinton's sexual "acting out" and lying about it, gave us 8 long years of G. W. Bush! She doesn't have a chance in hell to win the nomination, and she knows it. As a passionate Obama supporter, I would NEVER vote for her in a million years, even with Obama on the VP ticket, because he's too good for that! If he gets there, that means that she has STOLEN the prize, by every DIRTY TRICK in the book! Rather than ever vote for her, I will quit the Democratic Party, with millions of others, and I will become an "Independent" for the rest of my life! I will then sit out the election for the first time ever!!! It will not be me that will have destroyed the Democrats' chances for success, it will have been the Narcissistic Clintons, once again, because they believe that it is all about them!!! YES -- Obama/Webb!

Hillary was my second choice until her and Bills stunts in SC. Then after that debate when she stated "I'm proud to be sitting on this stage with Obama" she again become my second choice. But that didn't last long, 48hrs later she's on the stump trashing him again. But the last straw for me was the "McCrazy endorsement" that's when I realize the women had no integrity whatsoever! She proved it's not the country she cares about it's being in power and she'll take down this entire party in order to get it. So out of principle I wouldn't vote for her now. And so long as we continue to vote for the dirty candidates don't expect a dam thing to EVER change in our political system. If Hillary manages to steal this election by playing dirty then I hope Obama supporters send a clear message to the DNC that dirty politics no longer work.
