McCain's Daughter Goes Behind The Scenes At Campaign BBQ With The Press

Last Sunday, John McCain hosted a BBQ for supporters and members of the DC press corps at his home in Sedona, Ariz. McCain's daughter Meghan posted a YouTube clip on Sunday that takes a peek at the grilling and schmoozing at the McCain house. Among her observations: Newsweek reporter Holly Bailey on a tire swing, Politico scribe Jonathan Martin manning the grills, and the Politico boys bringing mom Cindy McCain flowers.

Meghan writes on her blog:

I know that so many of you really enjoyed our photo gallery from the BBQ event in Sedona for members of the media. We think you're going to love this video. Watch for Dad being dangerous on the grill with his tongs, Mom's humor, us rocking out in the car and of course, all the unexpected silliness. Enjoy!

You have to wonder why the do an erratic MTV type camera zoom to bring attention to the only African American at the party, and how they do a completely out of sequence clip of her driving to her dads million dollar weekend cabin in her 2ok Prius. I seriously doubt she drive a Prius, that is not a rethug car of choice, and surly not a car a millionaire congressman's daughter would drive. I think they were trying to make it seem like McCain is the guy you would most like to have a beer with our invite to your BBQ. Just like Rove did with Bush. He was dumb as dirt spoiled elitist snob and doing horrible in the beginning of his 2ooo campaign, then over the weekend he was apparently completely transformed into a down to earth who was portrayed as the guy you would like to have a beer with or invite to you BBQ. And it worked for the RNC base. I think they are trying that again with McCain.
I wonder if the censorship board here at hufpo will allow this post to go through?

What happened to all of the other McCain children? It's strange that there are not any appearances on the campaign trail of the adopted daughter and the children of the first marriage. I recall seeing Sen. McCain a at post election victory a rally in January, Sen. McCain's adopted daughter was on stage holding a campaign sign, but in his speech Sen. McCain only thanked his daughter Megan and his wife for their help. What's with that?

We have 18 year olds dying in Iraq and her daddy wants to keep sending them over for another 100 years, so what the hell is 23 year old Megan doing here? McCain's son, Jimmy, is a Marine who just returned from a tour in Iraq. Another son is attending the Naval Academy. The youngest kid is in high school. There's no way a 15-year-old kid could go on the campaign trail without flunking out of school.

The same exact things they pushed about W when he was running.
Do you want someone who can actually help the country, or would you rather have someone who would be fun at a BBQ?? And it did work extremely well for Bush. Then again, the voting base of the party is mostly NASCAR Bible Thumpin' Red necks, so this is a great tactic directed at them.

Marrying money helps to overcome the emotional distress that results from having kicked your first wife to the curb -- the one who stuck it out all those Vietnam years. It's also damned handy as you shop around for a house to buy so you can carpetbag your way into a House seat.

As to the reporters, they already pal around with all the politicians, send their kids to the same private schools, dine at the same pricey restaurants. They're as corrupt as the system they pretend to cover. It's the fundamental scam that's played on the public, and there are only a handful of true reporters left (hint: they're not the ones that are always on TV).

McCain's "cabin in the woods" is certainly not an Abe Lincoln log cabin. It reminds me of the movie set of "Beyond the Forest" with Bette Davis where she rendezvoused with the richest man in town, David Brian. What's going on is the assembling of footage for a Reagan-like "Morning in America" documentary of McCain's life to be shown at the Republican Convention.
