Obama Versus Mccain

Yesterday, little-known Democrat Bill Foster scored a major upset and won the congressional seat held for 20 years by former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, a Republican. The race was a proxy war between Barack Obama and John McCain. Obama cut an add for Foster -- watch it:

Meanwhile, McCain campaigned for the Republican candidate Jim Oberweis, and fundraised for his campaign. Watch the two of them (about 2 minutes in):

AP has more on the race:

The race between Foster and Oberweis spawned a contentious campaign that saw both men counting on high-profile supporters to sway voters. Oberweis had Hastert and McCain; Foster leaned on Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama who endorsed him in a TV ad.

"The people of Illinois have sent an unmistakable message that they're tired of business-as-usual in Washington," Obama said Saturday night in a written statement.

the republicans in the 14th voted for the milk nazi but they had better candidates to run against foster. there selection of milk nazi showed that the republicans in this district would vote for Hitler if he ran as a republican..,thanks to the hard work by the folks in the eastern suburbs of this district we finally have a democrat representing us. is this the wave of the future for the democrats across the country? if we can do it- i`m sure others can.

It is very disturbing that the mainstream media is not seriously investigating stories that indicate there are malicious efforts to meddle in the outcome of the democratic primary voting. Why does MSM continually ignore authentic voter fraud in the US? There is significant evidence that Rush Limbaugh really did inspire cross party voting for Hillary. Stories are being reported in Ohio and Texas news. Why isn't any of this making national media? If this is true, it is voter fraud, and needs to be reported as such. It might even warrant the invalidating of votes that could have an impact on the final results. Also, NAFTA-gate continues to be a major story in Canada. The US media have failed miserably to educate Americans as to how and why this issue is so important in Canada politics and how it may be trying to influence the US elections. If these stories were happening in another country, our media would probably be giving much more reporting about how other countries have such a problem being democratic. Why does US media turn such a blind eye when it's happening right in front of us? The media needs to thoroughly investigate these stories and report them so any meddling can be exposed and action can be taken if appropriate.

This is the thing that many people ignore when considering Hillary vs Obama. Hilliary is saying 'experience is what is most important' and Obama is saying 'I want to change the way things are done in washington' Which message is likely to also make voters want to elect somebody new to congress from their district?

This goes to show that Obama will be the best choice if we want to turn as many Republican seats in the Congress over to the Democrats as possible. Not to take any credit from Hastert for helping to lose this seat, but Obama is the person who can get us the majorities we need to truly shift the direction of this country.

Dennis Hastert will likely go down in history as this country's worst-ever Speaker. He was, and is, a filthy, degenerate human being, just like his Fuhrer. Both men should be behind bars, not the seat of power.

Proxy war, what a joke. Because HE did an ad, that makes him the victor? What a joke.

This is a preview of what Obama will do. By voting out the old guard and putting in people that can actually work together and get things done. Things will change.
Hilary doesn't come even close.

This was not a pretty election but Oberweiss is the just short of being the Alan Keyes of Illinois. He searches out the most extreme positions and runs with them. He makes the racist in Illinois drop their jaws in shock. This was his fourth attempt to gain office and if he couldn't win in this district of white conservatude then there is hope. I hope people understand how huge this was and what it means to so many local races. With Hillary on the ticket (Pres or Vice Pres) the amount of Dems that will cross over and the amount of Republicans that will come out, from Clinton hate, we are heading straight for 4 years of President McCain.

I'm just worried about the taxpayers cost of buying "DEPENDS" if McCain gets in the whitehouse!

I saw both ads, the McCain one for Oberweis and the Obama one for Foster. It's clear that even in rock solid GOP territory Obams's call for change in the way DC does business resonated. If the Democrats lose this piece of magic given them by the candicacy of Barack Obama, they won't recover for decades. The man has it. He's heads and shoulders, literally and figuratively, above Hillary and McCain.

Regarding health care we have seen the failure of gov't run systems, they were replaced by 'sleeker' private pay- 'more cost effective..Market Driven' and that has proven disaterous- I've worked in Long Term care within the last 25 yrs- it's a cesspool of underbudgetiing and denying services, unless able to be over charged to the Mediare system. Medicad barely pays for necessary medical health needs. Teh HMO's had Nurse Rachettes as the Gate Keepers to their clients health service coverage and just the old 'Asylums' - it's the bottom line.
But here's the thing withAslyums- they didn't have theTechnology Skill or education we now can afford to provide for those in need- we are no longer in the dark ages. Gov't can manage a health care system just as well as any For Profit Enterprise, because that is all it is- FOR PROFIT, believe me- that's why I had to get out- against my prinicples and morals. Now I just drag that saop box around hoping people will listen. Disgraceful such indifference to the human conditon, suffering all for the all mighty dollar (or Yen ,or what ever it is in UAE). And there will only be more to care for when the Boomers get in the middle of old age. we should get our priorities straight right now. Foresight is an essential presidential attribute- Hill has proved she doesnot possess it. Her's is a plan for Health insurance organizations, Pharmacuticals and extraneous suppliers operating in a NON Free market- they are monoploies. If there is a monopoly in health care I'd rather have it be my Gov'ts I get a set cost, I know i'm covered and I know I can't have a voice in how it is run!
Call it what ever you want Universal sociaized gov't run......Just do it. your kids, grandkids, parents, grandparents, not to mention themillions who are now without anything but the mergency room & it's pricing , will sincerely Thank You!

The Republicans are in such bad shape that they're going to have to use dirty tricks that make the Swiftboat gang look tame. That is, they will if Hillary doesn't destroy the Democratic Party before they do.
