Obama Versus Mccain

Yesterday, little-known Democrat Bill Foster scored a major upset and won the congressional seat held for 20 years by former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, a Republican. The race was a proxy war between Barack Obama and John McCain. Obama cut an add for Foster -- watch it:

Meanwhile, McCain campaigned for the Republican candidate Jim Oberweis, and fundraised for his campaign. Watch the two of them (about 2 minutes in):

AP has more on the race:

The race between Foster and Oberweis spawned a contentious campaign that saw both men counting on high-profile supporters to sway voters. Oberweis had Hastert and McCain; Foster leaned on Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama who endorsed him in a TV ad.

"The people of Illinois have sent an unmistakable message that they're tired of business-as-usual in Washington," Obama said Saturday night in a written statement.

Your saying that senatort Obama wins prozy war, but will he win the real war when the republicans hit him with something like his record vs. senator McCains record? I don't think so not after reading this;
http://dallasobserver.com/2008-02-28/news/obama-and-me/print We should all read the article by a black journalist "Obama and Me". You can be sure that McCain will say that when he put his name on a bil it was his bill and that he didn't take credit for work that someone else did. Can Obama say that? I don't think so! To look good while running for the senate that is what Obama did and I do not think that was right. If you are thinking I don't like Obama, you are wrong. Loved his speech at Kerry's nomination and was impressed by him. However, he has not completed one full term in the senate, he did not work on the committe that he was put in charge of, never had a meeting, now we find out he put his name on bills just to look like he accomplished something when he has not. I for one do not want to find out this and other things after he is our nominated person. Read and you be the judge, does he really deserve our vote or will we be putting up another person who will loose the white house for us. You better believe they will use this against him. If I found it on the internet, they did too.

Obama is for the war! People dont forget!! He too voted for every budget to fund the war. He is just as "guilty" as all you who attack Clinton!! So odds are he too would have voted for the war had he been in the Senate at the time. So, lets stop blaming it all on Hillary. The war is still going DIRECTLY DUE TO THE VOTE OF OBAMA!!!!

If he was so against it, his message would have "stayed the course" and his votes would have stayed NO to all war funding!

Something tells me the Repubs need to produce Bin Laden's body before by the end of summer to climb back into this election.

Oberweis stood, by implication, for bigger waste in government, less taxes for the elite, and more borrowing & spending, putting it on the national credit card. This is evidence for Professor Jansson's claim, in his book, The Sixteen-Trillion-Dollar Mistake, that change is necessary--a change from funding a bloated military that can lose 2.3 trillion dollars in a year; a change from subsiding corporations; a change from pork projects; and a change from funding the huge national debt, not to mention paying for the high cost of deregulation (i.e., the subprime debacle and before that the saving & loan debacle).

Don't expect to hear about this here, but one minor contributing factor was a smear from a Mexico-linked group that the DCCC repurposed for the campaign:

The latest polls indicat both Clinton and Obama would beat McCain, but by so little the margin of victory is smaller than the margin of error.

Ahhhhhhh, Hastert-free for 24 hours and loving it!
If this is a sign of what's going to happen in Nov, and by that I mean lots of repub zones going demo, it's going to be a happy winter for the world.

Hillary Clinton will not doubt assert that McCain's candidate was more qualified than Obama's.
