I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Bush Gridiron

George Bush took the stage and sang an early farewell at the Gridiron, an annual roast among politicos and journalist in D.C. Lynn Sweet has a nice rundown on the evening's festivities and most popular targets of jest (Hint: running for President paints a big target on your back).

Although the media weren't allowed to bring their cameras, somebody did manage to smuggle us out of some footage. For you viewing pleasure, here is George W., singing goodbye (lyrics below).

Yes you're all gonna miss me, The way you used to quiz me, But soon I'll touch the brown, brown grass of home.

I spent my days clearing brush
I clear my head of all the fuss
But the fuss you made over harriet and brownie
Down the lane I look and here comes Scooter
Finally free of the prosecutor

Chorus

And then I wait and look around me
At the oval walls that surround me
I realize I was only dreaming
For there's Condi and Dick, my old compadre,
Talking to me about some oil rich Saudi,
But soon I'll touch the brown brown grass of home."

Chorus

That old White house is behind me,
I am once again carefree,
Don't have to worry 'bout a crisis in Pyongyang.
Down the lane I look, Dick Cheney is strolling
With documents he'd been withholding,
It's good to touch the brown brown grass of home."

Every president goes through this and it is distinctly american. It's a roast. It addresses not only the failures but the frailties of the men who have occupied the office. It doesn't diminish us, it strengthens us. Only in a democracy can we hold our leader up to ridicule and get away with it. If a democrat gets elected he/she will do the same thing. Count on it. And, he/she will have failures in judgement and personal failures to share.

Nero fancied himself a poet and musician as well.

Every laugh you hear is proof positive:

We have George W. Bush in the White House because the media failed its constitutional duty
to keep the electorate informed.

Every last one of them laughing ought to be fired, and removed far from any position to so
abuse our trust.

Fellow Subjects - Our political ruling class needs a wake-call --- I know there are you subjects out there in the kingdom that don't want to hear this, but the Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton thing is simply passing the crown within the Royals. Don't be fooled by there trivial differences and backgrounds. Bush 41, Clinton 42, Bush 43, Clinton 44? There is nothing to be gained by it. And as a side note, did anyone catch C. Matthews' editorial on the Boy King and the Gridiron. For all his dribble, he hit the nail on the head. I can't find the video, but like he said, there is something obscene (my word) about the Boy King and the Press laughing it up like this. Again fellow subjects ... a Queen is nothing more than a Female King.

I heard this last night on Countdown and I was and still am outraged the "press corps". It is just a bunch of self centered asses. I knew it before but this proved it beyond doubt if they like a person (always male and no I am not a Hillary supporter) he gets a pass. McCain threw a Barbeque for them recently lets watch how gentle they are with him during the election...They don’t give a flying damn about America or its people just themselves and how much air time column inches or what access they have aka the Chris Matthews disease. How do they look themselves in the mirror? How can you know that you influenced the last 2 elections for the guy you liked and thousands of Americans died? How can you be so lazy as to get your talking points from this obviously disturbed Drudge person and still hold your head up as if you had achieved something? Pigs. Hey Cnn Msnbc when you ask why people are getting more and more from the Internet and tuning you out …this is it. Love you Keith and Dan but the rest can go to hell

I love the first line of his song. "Shrub" and the rest of his gang need to be clearing brush out beside some highway while wearing orange suits with State Prisoner written on the back.

Arrogant dickhead. The crowd was just as disgusting. Hitler mocking the holocaust to the tune of camp town races would have had them rolling in the isles.

I hope you all caught Chris Matthews on Hardball last nite talking about this. He was right on the money. He was outraged that the press would actually join in the laughter -- the whole audience should have responded with utter and total silence just to show this jerk up for what he is.

The modern day Emperor has no cloth on. This outrageous behavior has continued far too long. This man and his enablers have taken OUR country to a point of being diabolical.

Making fun of the worst natural disaster in the nation's history, where several hundred Americans died because of his and Brownie's incompatence...really funny. It's so hilarious: the man who committed treason, who lied to a Federal judge, outed a CIA agent, obstructed justice--Scooter Libby. I'm laughing so much my side hurts. There's no need to comment about "Dick" Cheney. We all know how absurdly funny he is. Leading OUR nation into an unnecessary war where hundreds of thousands have died...all for what? That is really funny. I hope he was laughing so much it felt like a heart attack was coming on. Oh I'm sorry, that was crass of me.

The audience and the reporters should all be ashamed of themselves for allowing this sorry excuse for a president to make fun of all of these shameful events. When fun is made of death, destruction and hate, who are we; and how far have we come as a nation?

sure . . .laugh about new orleans... make fun of a war that has killed and maimed so many, destryed so many families and made you and your cronies so wealthy.

reminds me of the marcos fiasco. if these were leaders in another country america would be outraged.

bush/cheney and their hubris compares to saddam's family.

what a fucking disgrace...and many americans want to keep the morally bankrupt dynsaties going by putting the clintons back in the white house.

repulsive, fools . . . the irony is that the majority of clinton supporters are bluedog bushies.

tragic.

Odd how HuffingtonPost would post this video from a person who copied it from the person who actually recorded it, and posted it on YouTube a day earlier.

I can't wait for the day that this mental midget and sadistic frat boy is arrested

for treason, war crimes and mass murder, along with a full dozen of his staff.

In fact, I will not cease calling for this final justice and even Paraguay is'nt out

of reach of the long arm of the law. I'll call for BushCo's reckoning, endlessly!

This is supposed to be funny? The country is suffering and this fool is laughing at his own follies as if there is anything to laugh about. And those idiots in the room laughing along with him are just shameless sheep. January 09 cannot come fast enough.
