Bush Gridiron

George Bush took the stage and sang an early farewell at the Gridiron, an annual roast among politicos and journalist in D.C. Lynn Sweet has a nice rundown on the evening's festivities and most popular targets of jest (Hint: running for President paints a big target on your back).

Although the media weren't allowed to bring their cameras, somebody did manage to smuggle us out of some footage. For you viewing pleasure, here is George W., singing goodbye (lyrics below).

Yes you're all gonna miss me, The way you used to quiz me, But soon I'll touch the brown, brown grass of home.

I spent my days clearing brush
I clear my head of all the fuss
But the fuss you made over harriet and brownie
Down the lane I look and here comes Scooter
Finally free of the prosecutor

Chorus

And then I wait and look around me
At the oval walls that surround me
I realize I was only dreaming
For there's Condi and Dick, my old compadre,
Talking to me about some oil rich Saudi,
But soon I'll touch the brown brown grass of home."

Chorus

That old White house is behind me,
I am once again carefree,
Don't have to worry 'bout a crisis in Pyongyang.
Down the lane I look, Dick Cheney is strolling
With documents he'd been withholding,
It's good to touch the brown brown grass of home."

i have to know.....
can he pardon himself, cheney, gonzales, etc. etc etc?????

this is the most appalling thing i have ever witnessed.
he is laughing his ass off at U.S. ALL!

I've always thought that he was laughing us U.S. So, this is just a confirmation for me. But I also believe that he will not be the last to laugh! It reminds me of someone who laughs just to keep everyone thinking "I'm doing great". Maybe he is...I just don't think that's the case. Even worse is if he does believe he's above all reproach.

Not to mention bankrupting the country besides, and making us outcasts all around the world. But one of his fans above said "lighten up," -- really quite amazing.

I'm glad that President Happy Feet thinks the mess he and Dick made is so funny, as well as the morons in the audience. Seven more soldiers lost their lives yesterday, how many foreclosures this month, $107 oil; the US dollar is the new Paso, Katrina, and corruption in almost every branch of government. Bush-Cheney are symbols for failure in the modern age and Bush is dancing and singing every chance he gets. I don’t mind a sense of humor in our leadership, but I just don’t see why he has anything to joke about, he is funny as a traumatic head wound. Maybe he and DICK can form a duet, now that would be funny. Maybe.

No your first instinct is right. Not a damned thing is funny about this guy.

A person that doesn't pay their mortgage gets foreclosed. How is that Bush's fault?

Oil is at $107 because demand continues to rise. How is that Bush's fault?

Katrina slams New Orleans? How is that Bush's fault? Bush doesn't control the weather.

A person that doesn't pay his/her mortgage doesn't make the choice of not paying. When the economy is run by a president who wants the have's and the have more's to have and have more, who wastes trillions destroying a country on a war based on a pack of lies, who promotes lies and dishonesty on an everyday basis, maybe this president is responsible. And a person having to pay a mortgage in a country who has been run by a moron and his corrupted cronies for the last seven years sometimes cannot afford paying the mortgage any longer. And you don't consider it's bush's fault ?

Oil at $ 107... maybe because the $ is devaluated so as to lower the amount of money borrowed from a communist not-respecting-human-rights country, or from so-called "friendly" countries which the terrorists who flew the planes in the WTC came from. Or maybe because the president, his family, his cronies, make big money from the increase of the price. Or maybe the president, against all foreign advices, against American experts' advices, started a chaos in the Middle East. $ 107, and you don't consider it's bush's fault ?

As for Katrina, scientists were saying long before it happened that the levees were rotten. But bush wouldn't listen to scientists, would he ? As for global warming and Darwinism, he knows better than they do. And the way people were taken care of after Katrina, with Laura rejoicing at seeing that the city had been cleaned (I'm paraphrasing). People now still living in trailers in NoLa, in America, the greatest country on earth, and you don't consider it's bush's fault ?

Whose fault, then ? Mine ? Yours ? Obama's ? Bad luck ?

I guess when someone is elected to watch out for the interests of America and then only watches out for the interests of the rich, is never at fault for anything. Bush is not to blame for Katrina. He is to blame for the aftermath and for ignoring the needy for several days because he was on vacation and for placing someone in charge who is even less competent than he is. Any leader who ignores the needs of his people needs to be dealt with by shipping him off to the hague to stand trial. There is currently a surplus of oil but the price goes up because the dollar lost its value during this administration's tenure. Bush strated at $28 per barrel. His good buddies in the oil business are getting filthy rich while is scheduling speaking engagements for 2009 at hefty fees from those oil buddies.

That was disgusting, but I expect nothing less from Bush.

Laughing with impunity when referencing the deaths of thousands in New Orleans, the treasonous outing of a CIA agent, the incestuous financial relationship the Bush and Cheney Crime Family has with the Saudi royals... while 15 of the 19 alleged 9-11 terrorists were Saudi Arabian, and the in-your-face assertion that the executive branch is above the law.

You may have been dreaming, Bush, but you've been our nightmare.

My dream would be to see you, Cheney, and every one of your criminal cohorts locked away in prison for the rest of your miserable lives.

your comments, much like Bush's singing, would be more funny if they weren't so painful and true. we just got bilked for 8 years and the theives ride off into the sunset singing their happy song.

maybe life is all about being thankful that we're not them.

How wonderful to hear this noise from the Puppet. and to realize that he is at last on his way out of the White House. The greatest time will be when he disappears over the horitzon and hopefully into obscurity. as the worst president ever. The rightwinger creatures in the majority in both chambers of Congress during most of his loathsome tenure have created for the Congress a complementary legacy of its being the worst ever ever in allowing him to run roughshod, with no accountability through oversight , over every legal tradition of the citiizens of this Country and the Constitution itself.

However, after his merciful departure, the lunatics and assorted Dupes who loyally supported him and his mob of incompetents through the Bush Era of Destruction will invite him from time to time to show up, and stumble, in the fashion of a second grade elementary school student, through the reading of a speech prepared for him by some ultra-rightwing crackpot propagandist. Hurry January 2009 (which is seemingly is eons away).

And so we won't have George to kick around anymore, is that the thought here? The wave is about the same. Personally he can not bid adieu quickly enough. I can't bear to listen to him sing, but I understand he did work on it. Sorry George, your legacy will be around for decades as we try to recover.

How he can make "light" of real criminal acts that him and his compadres are responsible for is beyond me and the idiots that think it's funny. To bad he wasn't singing that from a jail cell in San Quentin right along with Manson. They are one in the same. Never physically murdered anyone, but had others do it for him.

Was that Rove dancing and singing in the background?

Bush I cannot wait to see the KARMA coming your way.

"How he can make "light" of real criminal acts..."

answer - he is an unrepentant criminal. i used to advocate for life in prison for these criminals but their blantant in-our-faces unrepentance has me thinking that they're deserving of a "stiffer" sentence.

though i would like to visit them in prison.

Scooter finally free of the prosecutor = big laughs. This is the moral high ground? Laughing about Scooter Libby getting away with perjury? At least he confirmed that Cheney is withholding documents. I wonder if he can make the same confession in a normal speech rather than sing-song? What a bunch of scum.
