News broke Monday afternoon of Governor Spitzer's use of a high-priced prostitution service, giving late-night hosts just enough time to scrape together material for their evening tapings. They all joked at the governor's expense, highlights of which are pieced together below. As a bonus, David Letterman did a themed Top Ten list, Spitzer's Top 10 Excuses, which you can watch below. (#9: Hookers is fun)

Samantha Bee and Jason Jones pulled off the best comic reaction to the Spitzer story last night on The Daily Show. Sheer genius. For anyone who has ever marveled at the phenomenon of philandering politicians forcing puffy-eyed, tear-stained spouses to stand meekly at their side like a faithful lapdog that's been kicked one too many times, I guarantee you that you'll be laughing uncontrollably at this bit. You can find it on the Daily Show site - March 11, 2008 episode, segment titled: Shame Parade.

Why not give a male child a book of "Self Validation" with a clear Table of Contents and Index so he can validate or justify his maleness when slipping from his mamma's womb! I'm a female and don't look towards men to validate myself. Looks to me men like Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert and Lettermen have already found their validation as people, as men who separate themselves from the boys. Here's to Doctor Laura... The Happy Hooker! Last time I looked at you, Doc Laura, I saw no evidence of a burka under your shorter skirt. I meet men who don't need validation, but they are few and far between. What a set up with verbal 'listen to me men and BUY, BUY, BUY my next book. Yup, played you guys once again. Didn't mention I've got another book coming out shortly. Buy it and fill my coffers!"

People wonder why a woman would want to become a prostitute - apparently the escorts from this service were making enough to be above the poverty level in a couple of days, if not hours. Since prostitution is illegal, chances are that a lot of money isn't being taxed.

YES,YES,YES,prostitution should be legal,a man can go into a club, bar, shop, and drag home anybody, any sex, screw, and IT'S LEGAL.but if he pays them,HE AND THEY ARE CRIMINALS,WHAT FRIGGIN SENSE DOES THAT MAKE,YOU CAN PAY FOR EVERYTHING,BUT SEX!!.but let's also remember that what he did was wrong, adultery,AND HIS WIFE,FAMILY,FRIENDS,suffer, not because prostitution is illegal,BUT SEX OUTSIDE MARRIAGE IS WRONG,AND IF IT ISN'T,WHY THE HELL GET MARRIED.

I liked Olbermann's line:

"Spitzer? I didn't even KNOW her!"

Spitzer? You spitzer! You brought her!

Everyone's comments are very amusing. I am from New York. I voted for Spitzer, but somewhere down the line when he persisted in attacking Joe Bruno, I realized that he wasn't going to garner enough support come budget time with dirty tactics. Also, trying to force Amazon.com to charge New Yorkers online sales tax surely did not bode well for him. You all know the expression," be kind to those you meet on the way up, because you will meet them on your way back down." Well, I guess Spitzer is reaping what he sowed.

Can't wait for this to be included in a new Law & Order episode! Mariska and Chris should have much fun with this one. But where will they find an actor with such BIG EARS?

I agree, there is some thing "fishy" about this whole scandal. Not that the Gov got caught, because i bet that most of the ol' boys in politics probably get hookers too. But the way they exposed him. Maybe its just me, but ive been grown to become a skeptic.

Jeez, after the Federal Attorney scandal the first question on everyones mind should be: Did the investigation lead to Spitzer or was Spitzer targeted?

Does anyone really believe that this Justice department wouldn't target prominent Democrats? If you find that hard to believe you are a fool.

With these fools No matter how cynical you are . . . you are not cynical enough.

PS. David Gregory; Who was getting that male prostitute Jeff Gannon, you know-the guy sitting next to you for all those press conferences, into the White House?

The Gov made his rep by busting corporate bigwigs and going after wiretaps to do it. He made some powerful enemies. No problem unless you are doing $5,000 and hour hookers on state time. Wonder if he punched in and out just to keep it on his personal time.

There is actually a question if this prostitute was RELATED to him. They are not sure if she is a Spitzer or a Swallower!

What are WE AMERICANS thinking?

What are we punishing, SEX? How stupid are we?
How can we be led by the nose by Republican panty sniffing manipulators who are IN CHARGE OF FBI, CIA WIRE TAPPING and sniffing your garbage and underwear?
How about THAT?
Why should our tax money pay for Republican bullsh*t like THAT?

WHY should Spitzer resign for sex?
Why don't Republicans RESIGN FOR CORRUPTION?

What about Republicans like Bush-Cheney & Company who LIED, started a FRAUDULENT FOR-PROFITS Iraq War, REPUBLICANS SCREWED middle-income Americans with HUGE TAX BILLS FOR DEFICIT,
& GIANT BILLS from PROFITEERING BIG OIL pals in their fake "oil shortage" that exists ONLY ON PAPER. They screwed middle-income Americans.

Why don't those Republican CORRUPTORS RESIGN?

What are we punishing here-- SEX? That is insane. How stupid are we?
WHEN WILL WE PUNISH CORRUPTION, INSTEAD?

Its not because he had sex, its because he is a bald-faced hypocrite, not to mention a liar, a bad role-model and a terrible excuse for a family man.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:08 AM on 03/12/2008

Because in this case, corruption and sex are one and the same. Spitzer as a prosecutor, used the power of his office to prosecute men for doing the exact same thing he did.
And yes, Bush & company lied us into war, which is much worse. But the fact that other people have done worse things doesn't excuse people from doing things that are also bad.
Spitzer at one point signed off on the prosecution of a prostitution ring, while at the same time, being an active cleint of a different ring! That's misconduct. Misconduct that gets people fired. Spitzer is getting what Spitzer once gave.

I wonder why they always haul their wife or husband out to stand before the cameras and make them more ashamed and embarassed. Spitzers wife looks like the world crashed down on her and probably wonders what they will do when they leave the governors mansion.

I wonder the same thing! No way, if my hubby does that he can lean on his hooker that he's not going to be able to afford after I get through with him.

Will you name me one political woman who has been outed as cheating on her husband? Before you drag out the suggestion -- by including "hauling out their wife or husband" -- please remember which sex seems to be more likely to be charged as having used "prostitutes."
