Obama, Clinton Join Earmarks Moratorium

After months of partisan sniping, the great earmarks debate in Congress may be collapsing in a marriage of political convenience between conservatives and leading Democrats.

Late Monday, presidential candidate Barack Obama, quickly followed by rival Hillary Rodham Clinton, joined Senate efforts to ban all such home-state projects next year, and the anti-pork camp also hopes to pick up some unexpected help from a third Democrat: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

When we are at our lowest point in years, paying $12 billion a month for an illegal war which has resulted in our occupation of a foreign country, when our citizens are being forced out of their homes in record numbers, the last thing we can afford it political pork!

Personally, I would only go for an earmark that subsidizes the American people who are paying record prices at the pump, suffering indignities in unmonitored workplaces, losing their jobs to illegals and outsourcing, and becoming unable to even put food on their tables or, as Bush so eloquently puts it, "put food on their families."

We need no more earmarks. We need to put these monies into healthcare and everyday quality of life for the American people!
