Via Politico:

Nancy Pelosi tells Boston TV that a Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton ticket is "impossible."

"I think that the Clinton administration has fairly ruled that out by proclaiming that Senator McCain would be a better Commander in Chief than Obama. I think that either way is impossible," she said.

Also: "Nothing ever resolves itself -- it has to be resolved by some outside forces," she said.

I am no Bush supporter, but impeaching Bush would be quite the idiot move, Nancy Pelosi recognized this and stayed away. Yea replace Bush with a more competent Republican and have run against him as an incumbent. I find all the posters here blaming Nancy Pelosi for not pursuing the impeachment thing to be idiot unable to see beyond the immediate.

Impeaching Bill Clinton would have been a great move for the Democrats, it would have promoted Al Gore to the spotlight as never before. The Republicans were smart enough not to pursue this impeachment and removal of Bill Clinton, he was already a lame duck.

Please stop attacking anyone that criticizing Hillary, defend Hillary but stop trying to tear others down. Nancy is right, you are all idiots that can only see the immediate effect of the Bush impeachment.

I see your point. I was thinking about the euphoria of weeks ago. We would not be have been in that place if we we're steeped in the midst of a very justifiable impeachment...However, pursuing justice would have been most satisfying and we all would have been totally engrossed in the minutia of justice...however sobering.
Now, that this thing is turning ugly...I'm starting to wonder about the trade off. At least the Democratic party would be united in impeachment. That way, we could have stalled and better defined this scramble between the Neo-Con Dems & the progressive Dems...

There's more at stake than political advantage in the here and now; what's at stake is---quite literally--the rule of law, at least as far as it applies to the presidency.

The congress owes it to the honor of the law and the constitution to establish the point that presidents can't do what the bush administration has done.

You are suggesting that the Democrats throw the election to satisfy your ideals. It voters like you who voted for Nader and caused the subsequent Iraq war. Please supply you email so that I could forward it to all the grieving families of American soldiers.

What a though, the Democrats should pursue the ideals while Republicans win elections. Interesting idea, let me ponder this a while.

A more competent Republican?
Chuck Hagel, maybe? I'd be all for it, country over party, every time.
The historical fantasy at the end of your post is amusing. Imagine Clinton's own party impeaching him, having spent millions on a Special Prosecutor, while sober Republicans (like Newt and Tom Delay) stayed above it all.
Alternate reality is a great genre. The South could have won the Civil war, too.
In which case, Vermont, instead of impeaching Bush and Cheney, could be mobilizing to break away from the slave-owning lords of Richmond.
Let's stick to reality, and just impeach the bastards.

Clinton's RESIGNING would have elevated Gore. As it turned out, Clinton was so discredited by his own reckless behavior that Gore couldn't afford to avail himself of Clinton's support. Maybe a stupid move, but Gore had to campaign on some kind of ethical core. Do we really need more of that kind of narcissism in the White House?

Speaker Pelosi,
If you care about what the people want why haven't you done what they wanted? Why haven't you insisted that the impeachment process begins. Fact is, you don't give a rip about the American people, your interest is maintaining your position and support.

And for your information, Senator Clinton didn't say that McCain would be a better commander in chief than Senator Obama, unless of course you want to be divisive yourself. Her message was that she was in a better position to beat him. And, I believe she would be better able to do so.

I do not respect you as you have failed to listen to the American people. You, Senator Pelosi let us down. You, Senator Pelosi have failed to do what the democrats insisted in the last election...to bring the war in Iraq to an end. Too busy playing politics I guess.

Every time someone says anything negative about HIllary Clinton they are demonized by the Clinton campaign and Clinton's surrogates and supporters.

You know, you are running out of people who you haven't demonized, right?

Seeing how deadlocked congress is I don't think that an impeachment resolution would do anything, at all. I don't like it as much as any other person but really it would be one of those DOA motions that while politically correct wouldn't do anything but to help the republicans.

These criminals in the white house have to be indicted and tried. Justice cries out for it.

Hillary has broken a taboo and repeated it several times over a period of as many days. The godesses are not happy. The thing now has a metaphysical life of its own or in this case a death of its own. Bill takes second place only to Hillary herself, as her worst enemy.

Hillary has no compunction in destroying the Democrats winning the next election unless she is on top of the ticket. What a surprise!!! Hillary has no shame and that is why Ferraro will not be removed from her inner circle for her outright racist remark.
You Democrats had it in the bag and the bag lady (Hillary) will make sure you lose. So in conclusion the Democratic leadership stay mum and acquiesce to Hillary's slander since you reap what you sow.

I'm glad Pelosi said that, but it still doesn't let her off the hook for taking impeachment off the table. With those remarks, she's basically allowed Bush to do whatever he wants. That's on her head. Now Bush has fired Adm. Fallon, so who knows what those nuts in the White House are cooking up concerning Iran?
I'm glad Pelosi said all that, but that doesn't cancel out the other things she's failed to do.

Hey Nancy...

Hillary and her deceitful campaign made that statement over and over again BEFORE Super Tuesday, BEFORE Ohio and Texas.

And now you are speaking up???

Thanks for the leadership. Really effective. We can always say...Nancy was there AFTER the Clintons destroyed the party a 2nd time.

Gee Nancy......your comments would be relevant if you yourself were relevant. Unfortunately, you've rendered yourself irrelevant over the past year by not doing your job and putting a halt to the shrub and his disastrous policies.

Nobody cares anymore what you have to say.

Can't be Obama/Edwards because Edwards voted for the war, remember?
Obama can't take anyone who has "bad judgement"

So Edwards, according to Obama's principles, should be ruled out.

What Clinton said about Obama is completely in line with what's permissible in primary campaigns.

John Kerry said this of Howard Dean: “[T]hose who doubted whether Iraq or the world would be better off without Saddam Hussein, and those who believe today that we are not safer with his capture, don’t have the judgment to be president or the credibility to be elected president.”

Gary Hart said of Mondale: "Carter-Mondale actually gave us an America held hostage to the ayatollahs of the world.” also calling Mondale weak and inept on national security, citing "days of shame" in Iran

Hart also said:
“In national security as in domestic policy, we must not leave the American people with a bleak choice in 1984 between two failed pasts - that of Ronald Reagan and that of the Carter-Mondale Administration.”

Hart also said
“After reviewing the record of the Carter-Mondale Administration, I can understand why Walter Mondale is Ronald Reagan’s favorite opponent.”

All of these are far more harsh than anything Hillary has said or done. But the new rules apparently are "hands off Obambi."

You all need to grow up, and so does Pelosi. She's not their Mom.

Dear Speaker Pelosi,

Could it possibly be that you made a very grave mistake in your judgement, by not adhering to what "We the People" wanted with the impeachment of the current president and the vice president?

Dear Plages,

I never intended to impeach the current Veep or Prez. I just knew that is what it would take to get me to this Madame Speaker position. And you bought it hook line and sinker. Now that I am here, Go fly a kite. Signed Nancy Pelosi

I have to believe at this point that Pelosi counted the possible votes for impeachment and realized it would be a waste of time.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:38 PM on 03/11/2008

It doesn't matter if there are enough votes to convict in the Senate. If the case for impeachment is made in the house and then the whole ordeal has to be aired out again in the Senate, the news cycle just spent 3 months going through all the crimes of the Bush administration...even if it fails, and it certainly would...could there be any better press for Democrats in November?

Gore would have won easily in 2000 if it weren't for "Clinton fatigue". That feeling was a direct result of Bill's dirty laundry hung out for all to see for half a year.

I am not usually impressed with the argument...Republicans do it and they win, so we should do it too...but Bush/Cheney are likely the most deserving targets of impeachment in history. Even if the mechanism can't work because the Republicans will rally around them, conscience demands that they have to answer for their actions.

Seeking justice is a waste of time???? Why have any laws at all then?? This is a lousy reason for letting war criminals off the hook.

Although Pelosi is in charge of a gridlocked congress an has been unable to effectivelt legislate, I have to agree with her here.
By saying that Barack would make a good VP, Hillary is trying to undermine the voter's perception of him as a front runner and leader; when she is questioned on it she can say there was no subtext to the statement, I really think he would be a great vice president. And then she would smile.

Not only has Pelosi revealed that she likes Obama but she is revealing a window into how other folks in the Capitol feel the superdelegates feel about HRC's crap. She broke the covenant of politics NEVER EVER but your other party's candidate before your opponent no matter how much you hate them.

This tells me that she is not winning with the supers. Its about time that someone has the guts to call her out on her crap.

Clark has been stumping all along for Clinton. That doesn't necessarily mean he's unavailable to Obama. He's definitely stayed out of the cat fight thus far - a good indication that the possibility exists.

I think Biden might be a good alternative as well. His experience and gravitas would be an excellent pairing with Obama. He's a great statesman and a great debater.

Gen Wes Clark is backing and actively campaigning for Hillary. I don't know the depth of his loyalty, but if Clinton keeps up the smears and dirty campaigning, she will alienate every true Democrat out there.

I know I was very disappointed when I received a fundraising email from Gen Clark on behalf of Sen Clinton. I didn't know he was a part of the DLC crowd.

General Clark is a has been. He's politically tainted, when he started going through the vetting process last run he didn't even survive the first two weeks and never regained traction. He's best as a Clinton Shill and let him remain. Keep in mind, he only joined the democratic party in 2002 and was considering joining the republican party. In essence, he's not a core democrat. Do I hear Jim Webb?

Gen Wes Clark publicly endorsed Hillary. Admiral Fallon who retires March 21, over his opposition to Bush's plans to Invade Iran, Admiral Fallon is the highest ranking officer in the US Forces with 41 years of service. Wes Clark does not come near Admiral Fallon in military matters. Fallen would be a gem for the Democratic Party.
