Report: Spitzer Has Used Hookers For 6 Years: The New York Post reported Tuesday that Gov. Eliot Spitzer's history with prostitutes might go back further than initially revealed:

Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been soliciting high-priced hookers for at least six years and possibly for more than a decade, sources tell The Post.

The revelation yesterday that the crusading governor was in fact "Client 9" named in a federal prostitution indictment did not shock insiders in the city's sex industry.

Sources tell The Post that Spitzer had frequented high-priced hookers as far back as 2002 and possibly earlier.

Nice Guy, Good Tipper: According to ABC News, a woman that received Mr. Spitzer as a client years ago has said that he was good customer.

A 22-year-old escort found on another call-girl Web site told ABC News in a phone interview that Gov. Eliot Spitzer had been one of her customers two years ago when he was New York attorney general and that he was a nice guy who tipped well.

"He didn't do anything that wasn't clean," she said, adding that she knew who he was because he had made calls from the attorney general's office in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The irony here seems to be that if Spitzer hadn't tried so hard not to get caught at what he was doing, he probably would still be looking forward to doing all aspects of business as usual.

Spitzer could fix this by citing the "Dexter" principle, otherwise known as --it takes one to know one. With just a right bit of spin, Spitzer could argue he's a crimeless victim who, unwilling to roam about forlorn and lost in the wilderness of his own desire, chose instead to use his evil for good.

How far the mighty have fallen...........You can not expect to hold yourself up as the image of truth and justice and then committ the illegal act that you have prosecuted/falsely accused so many for in the past..........Did you really expect to get away with being above the law. Such a sad waste of a wonderful career. And really, six years of solicitation.........................guess you did not really care how this would impact your family. Selfish and stupid and you are getting everything you deserve! Your family on the other hand deserves so much better.

"Report: Spitzer has used hookers for 6 years"

Translation: Spitzer has been using expensive hookers for 6 years and someone can prove it.

The reality is that no one his age started using hookers just in the last 6 years, he has very likely been doing this in some fashion most of his adult life.

That said, it's time to give up the puritanical prohibitions on prostitution and join the modern world (or even the ancient world; most of the world; take your pick) in realizing that prostitution is a fact of human culture.

It would be far more rational to use government power to promote public health and safety through reasonable regulation, rather than to continue the counter-productive, hypocritical witch hunts enabled by criminalizing prostitution. it makes for great fun for the vice-squads, and great headlines in the news, but giving the police force jurisdiction over prostitution (rather than an appropriate public health agency) solves nothing and hurts many.

Un-Fuckin-believable! I thought all along he was PROSECUTING not PROSTITUTING.

DId anyone see Jim Kramer this morning discussing Spitzer with Meredith Viera? He was choking back tears; heartbreaking for his wife and daughters. He said that he could no longer defend his long time friend. Oh what tangled webs we weave when we practice to deceive....

Just another diversion folks!! Don't look behind the curtain!! everything is as it appears!! Or is it?? Paris and Brittany are out of the picture for the moment so we have to have something juicy to keep us occupied. Let's not worry about the fact that one of the only barriers to the Iran war just "resigned" and oil just hit $108.00 a bbl.

8 years ago the whole country was up in arms because Clinton (Bill) got a few blowjobs. The right went on the attack, and said it was the worst thing that could ever happen to the country. Then we got 4 years of Bush, and another 4. In that time several republicans were caught getting blowjobs in bathrooms, and whatnot. Each time there was a huge public outcry. Oh what about the children! Well, no one is fucking children (except maybe one guy, the rest seem to be all consenting adults). Anyway, this has been a popular distraction technique for a while. These sex scandals are all hype and little substance. Spitzer got laid. He paid for it. The world goes on. There's more important (and frankly more interesting) things to worry about than one person's penis and wallet.

well, after spitzer is out of office i think his wife should run for governor next election.

consider all the experience she has watching him a] fight crime and b] run the complex state of new york.

she would be able to take charge from day one... no learning curve here.

she is a woman-let all who would dare to criticize her many qualifications face the
wrath of now, media matters, and every over 60 year old woman in the state.

she has proved she is tough, standing by her man in his most trying time, keeping a stiff upper lip.

after she does a term as governor... she could run for PRESIDENT!

For 6 years eh??? Well he doesn't look any worse for wear!
On the other side prostitution might look pretty enjoyable and sexy but strip away the thin illusion and its a cold, hostile deal.Guys like Spitzer and Clinton know that but they're willing to pay the price because its the only way they can get laid when they want to.

Well, at least they aren't f&#king the country over. Lie us into war? Okey dokey. Out a CIA agent? No problem. Illegal wire taps? Here's immunity. Campaign pay-offs and golf outings with lobbyists? Take two.

If I were Spitzer, I'd tell them where to put it. Imagine Republicans wanting to impeach him. Don't they know that Pelosi took it off the table? Americans are far too busy to be bothered with justice.

More reasons why prostitution and drugs need to be legal.

As an non-American I am amazed at your reaction to this guy's behaviour. He paid, didn't beat anybody up, didn't stop doing his job. The behaviour itself is unremarkable; happens countless times day in and day out and always has and undoubtedly always will. How many times does this tawdry morality play have to happen before you all come to terms with your own humanity. Its messy, sometimes distressing, and without a doubt it often involves a betrayal of trust. But what could be more typically human than that. Would you really rather have an uptight uber-Protestant zealot in his place? I think not. I hope he finds some other constructive work in the future. The man is just too bright and too energetic to discard like an old sock.

Spitzer is a person that talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. When he makes enemies of people its just a pleasure to see him fall because he is being treated the way he treated others. You need to understand that if you are a public person you need to treat and lead people the way you would want them to do to you. If you don't and have double standards then you are in trouble and then the person should be punished the way Spitzer is being punished now. We have enough phony people in this country now in positions of power and we don't need him.

It is not about Morality.
it is about hypocrisy and double standards.
Prostitution is ILLEGAL in the US. He is the governor and an ex prosecutor, who had declared war on prostitution rings. He was very energietic sending people to prison for the exact same thing.
Nobody really cares about his sex life, but more about his credibility and honesty.
There is a big difference.

This guy is the poster boy for hypocrite of the century, and while we don't care about hookers, we don't like hypocrites. Or is that something you approve of also?

Well put. Thanks for the outside perspective. How many times will it happen again? Many more, unfortunately

How about we discard like and old used condom?

I would really like to see him take recent Republican ideas about how to behave after a sex scandal to their absurd conclusion, but...

Spitzers in trouble
- He made his name as reformer and has no more credibility there
- Obviously a sex addict. Can you imagine how his daughters feel?
- He can be impeached

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:11 AM on 03/12/2008

How do you know that he is a sex addict? Maybe him and his wife have a deal.

What is this American obsession with the crotch activities of its leaders? Who really cares besides those titilated by the juicy gossip? If the hooker isn't pressed into sex slavery by a pimp, then prostitution is a victimless crime between two consenting adults.

I found this scrawled onto the wall of a bar in Pgh Pa about 11 years ago. Don"t know who wrote it but it fits.

"In a world without ethics or morality the only crime is getting caught and the ultimate sin is stupidity".

I once worked for a wealthy man who knew a lot of wealthy and well-connected people, including politicians. Regarding politicians, he said that in his opinion it isn"t really the money that sucks them under, it's the power. It's that whole thing of being above the rest of society and being able to bend the rules because you're special.

In my opinion, Classism is the core issue facing America and the world today and I don"t think I"m alone in this line of thinking. For instance, when Martin Luther King pushed for civil rights and civil rights were perceived as a black issue, he did gain traction and was able to move the issue forward. But when he started making the case that there was a class divide in America and that ALL of the people on the wrong side of it were being disenfranchised, then he became a pariah among the establishment and he got the cold shoulder. To this day his views on class in America are almost never discussed.

We can"t have different standards for people based on who they are or what they do. Spitzer didn"t just cheat on his wife. He abused his position in office in a way that disenfranchised those whom he claimed to represent. He can still work towards changing the system but he shouldn"t continue in public office. That's just my opinion and the people have the ultimate say.
