Wednesday morning, while talking to Meredith Vieira on the Today show, Mad Money's Jim Cramer choked up when he was asked about his old Harvard Law School buddies Eliot Spitzer and Silda Wall Spitzer. Cramer, who was actually on-air when he first heard the news, initially couldn't believe it. He talked about his love for both Eliot and Silda, and was visibly teary-eyed. "I feel really bad for them... I obviously didn't know them as well as I thought."

DON'T WORRY IN A FEW MONTHS WHEN THE RETIREMENT PLANS OF MOST OF THE NATION START TO GO BANKRUPT BECAUSE OF THE INVESTMENT THEY HELD PEOPLE WILL BE CRYING TOO.

IT IS ONLY A LITTLE WHILE BEFORE SPITZER IS BEGGED TO COME BACK AND MAKE INVESTING SAFE AGAIN.

Silda obviously wants to be the First Lady of NY at all costs and to Kramer, I wouldn't equate screwing prostitutes with worshipping your wife.

It is a bad situation, but it's bad more so because children are involved.

It is almost as if Spitzer meticulously planned, scripted, then executed his own destruction. He originally set in place the mechanisms intended to uncover exactly the kind of deceit he perpetrated, and is now apologizing for.

Hypocrite? Perhaps, only in the sense that he promoted himself as a neo-Torquemada for corruption; he was the man that was going to flush corruption out of New York. Wall Street, in particular.

But I don't know of anything in Spitzer's political career that would make him out to be a hypocrite in this instance. I didn't see him dogging other politicians who cheated on their wives, and he has had PLENTY of opportunity. Just ask David Vitter.

This really is sad, to me.

For once, Cramer doesn't look like a crazed maniac. Good for him for standing by his friend without defending the actions.

Cramer is right, it is very sad for the family.

It is time to sell Spitzer short...............his stock has gone down and not worth much on the open market. So, sell, sell, sell!

Federal wire tapping information? Some of us might be wondering how this scandal got leaked all over the news media so efficiently?

Now that the NSA was unleashed on U.S. Citizens (and I suppose we have to wait to see if this is the first of many such wiretap political spectacles) , will there be any Republicans be among the future offerings?

"Obviously, I didn't know THEM as well as I thought."

What's Silda done to be lumped in with Spitzer like this?

And it bothered me that he paraded her out again today, along with his self-important resignation. Yesterday his wife looked stoic, but so sad. Today, it was obvious from her puffy face that she'd been crying.

Why would a man put her through this, TOO? What a selfish egomaniac he must be. (And probably EXACTLY the guy that Cramer knows).

Nothing is funnier to me than people saying they can't stand a hypocrite and a liar. I have yet to find a person that isn't one of those two things or both.

Spitzer dissed his "good friend" Cramer on his own show before he became Governor.
The man was not right in the head. That said, he would have made a great governor
if only he had stopped juicing up like all the other inhuman growth maniacs in
Albany. Hear that Cramer?

That was hard to watch...

I wonder how Eliot feels watching just how much he has hurt those who care about him.

This is why I love Jim Cramer. Everything he says, everything he does is sine cera ("without wax"). He doesn't give you any fluff, he just tells you like it is and how he sees it. And he's absolutely right about Spitzer doing a lot of good things. The whole reason Spitzer is so hated on Wall Street is because he was such a bulldog that made *everybody* play by the rules when dealing with investing. There was no room for shadiness with Spitzer on watch. It's really too bad that a strong consumer advocate goes down in flames because he had to get his nut off.

when you offer yourself up as the paragon of morality, as spitzer did, then you are held to a higher standard..his downfall has as much or more to do with his own tactics, the bulldozer methodology, that came to be viewed as unnecessarily draconian..why wall street cheered his demise..spitzer is like the preacher that rails against lust in public, while clandestinely leading a smarmy double life in private..some shrink needs to weigh in on why these dudley do-rights seem to snap, and deconstruct..especially, when you have a take no prisoner attitude when dealing when the foibles of your adversaries!
