Bush "Envious" Of Soldiers Serving "Romantic" Mission In Afghanistan

President Bush let his inner adventurer out while discussing the state of the war in Afghanistan with military and civilian personnel. While those in Afghanistan detailed the logistical and diplomatic problems via teleconference, the President took a much more whimsical approach to their mission. Via Reuters:

"I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."

"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks," Bush said.

Meanwhile, over 40 Taliban insurgents were killed in a battle in Southern Afghanistan, and six Afghani civilians were killed in a suicide bombing aimed at an American convoy.

Gee, is there something wrong with this new, improved version of the system? Seems odd to me that refreshing isn't refreshing, just tedious.

Thanks so much... Oh, and where did my previous comment zone off to from yesterday?...
It's a world of space and time, a world of sight and sound. a world like no other... (cue the muzak - brass, da da da da, dum)

Talk about luck!!! He can get his dream of re-enacting what life would have been like in Vietnam, if he could get another chance... He said he'd never have left, remember? What a romantic notion that was.
Oh, wow! If he hurries, he can take advantage of the "quickie" program - sign up and be ready to deploy in 30 days!!! Hey, he's the C in C, at least that's what the constitution allows him to do, "act as commander-in- chief". He can order the DOD to get him a kevlar vest and everything. And, best of all, he can choose where he wants to go! What a deal! You know, some National Guards members from NJ were in their late 50's and they got to go. Man, were their families happy!
Oh Wow - talk about lucky males, and best of all - he's WHITE!!! Geraldine Ferraro, you got your wish - here's the luck you've been referring to, that of privilege. You just can't beat it.
Proves you're better off being smart than white. Oh, wow!!! He is a romantic too...I always suspected he was. He just didn't let on.

Romantic, he thinks, speaking down to the little people.

Why don't we send him over there to serve as recompense for all of our men who have died for him and his cronies' wealth?

I think bush should be made to walk a gauntlet comprised of the mothers of those who romantically lost their lives. He should have to stop in front of each mother and let the woman slap him across the mouth. American and Iraqi mothers.

Where was dubya's romanticism during the Vietnam war, when he really had the chance to fight??? Any moron that glorifies war should never be allowed anywhere near public office. God this guy is an incredible moron.

Strange. I can't find any comments agreeing with Bush that it's "romantic."

Can this moron get any dumber? Does he know what an asshole he sounds like?
Sad thing is about 25% of this Country STILL support him!
That is the real meaning of "God Bless America"!!
Can we get rid of him and his ilk before they start WWIII.
I have always thought he was slightly retarded. ( No offence to those people).

Governor Bush (I agree with George Carlin that he was never elected into the Presidency),

Is an aberration sprung from a nightmare. He has neither the capacity to understand the harm he's done, or the willingness to face how he has undermined the concept of what is right, or what is wrong.

If I was a Texan, I would cringe every time this man opened his mouth.

Reports are coming in from military recruiters that we need more people to join. I say Bush isn't too old to go off and experience the romance of war. If you are going to profit from the killing fields, I say you should get all the romance we can give you.

A guy who whose daddy got him out of Vietnam and then went AWOL has the audacity to make a statement like that.
Cheney thought war was so romantic he got 5 deferments. Pat Buchanan thought war was so romantic he faked a "bum" knee to write speeches for Nixon. Limabaugh thought it was romantic too, but he had a butt cyst..Quayle went to the Guard and smoked pot..Wolfowitz got a student deferment..Trent Lott led cheers at football games..(Hmm..I think I see a pattern here)

Its Mental Retardation Awareness Month so maybe i will give Bush a Break. He is not only the worst President this nation ever had ,he's got to be the most ignorant one also.

spydero3, I'm with you! We should give this idiot a break, send him to war, and because of his age have a personal medic follow him around so that when something "romantic" happens to him he can have imediate care. Fix him up, and whether or not he still craves romanticisim send him back for another tour.

Bush needs "de-programming." He needs an intervention. He is starting to believe his own press releases. Probably after he watched the film "The Godfather" he wanted to be a gangster. I wonder what he will want to be when he grows up.

"I wonder what he will want to be when he grows up."

We'll probably never know. But at least he got his post-"Godfather" wish.

"Bring your soldiers Mr. Bush," Correa said in the speech. "Let it be your soldiers who die along the southern border with Colombia. We'll see if the Americans, the citizens of the United States, will accept tremendous atrocity.

"If not, shut your mouth and understand what is happening in Latin America."

Mr.Bush, Why don't you go see Pat Tillman's wife and family and tell them how romantic it is to be in Afghanistan? You are a real piece of work!

How about INSANE as an adjective?

The Bush administration which is more evil even than Saddan Hussein is prematurely counting on Israel to partake with them control of all of Europe and the Middle East. Not being fully aware of the hidden agenda of Israel, the administration will, out of fear, proceed with their own power tactics. Neither one trusts the other, but they are now linked to a pact that will destroy many innocent victims. Woe to these monsters.

As soon as the mysterious plot unfolds, there will be justifiable evidence to start the arrest and siezure of the top officials in the Republican Administration. Expect this to occur almost immediately upon the return of Cheney from the Mideast. The forces are in place to insure the siezure. Similar procedures will ensue in many areas of the U.S. Government both here and abroad. Israel will be stopped in her tracks when she tries to go after Iran It is coming to fruition. Carl Rove will flee as will a few othersin this vile group. The Lord your God is in power. (woman's God given intuition)

Well, them, resign now and re-enlist! Saddleup and move on out, soldier! Yeah, right. What a lying piece of dreck. Why, oh, why have we suffered this piece of offal in our highest office for so long? Sic Semper Tyrannis!!!

The lunatic is running the asylum. Anyone who put this guy into office are a part of the asylum.
Those of us who didn't are forced to live in this madhouse with all of the nutcases!

Someday we will get our country back!

The emperor has no clothes. If George Bush can't connect this stated wish to be in combat with his cowardice in dodging combat in Vietnam, his mental faculties are dangerously flawed. It should give us very serious pause that John McCain continues to admire the emperor's new clothes.

again, look who elected him. i'd love to think about this some and say more, but i'm a typical dumbfuck american and i'm going to go watch the american idol episode that i tivoed and think about getting highlights in my hair.

USA! USA! USA!

and yes, i'd love to live in france or belgium or any number of other countries that don't invade other countries because it's "romantic."

WTF! Is this a joke?!

President Bush has not a heart, nor a soul. His flippant remarks make me sick. He should be impeached by those comments alone.

He will be remembered, in history, as the worst president to ever "lead" (and manipulate) our country.

I'm sure if you are in good health when you leave office Georgie you are more then welcome to go to Afghanistan and take your daughters with you i'm sure they will enjoy it. And by the way how's the statue of you coming that Dickhead Cheney said would be built in Iraq, or is that a failure like everything else you have put your hands on? Go GEORGIE and hunt down Bin Laden ,you romantic bastard.

Tell me who your friends are and I''ll tell you who you are. Mmmm, let's see 5 deferment Cheney, or better yet how about this whole Vietnam draft dodging Neocon administration. THEN, of course the apex of right wing cowardice and I think a friend of the presidents, has been rocker and suck ass guitarist Ted Nugent who BOASTED to urinating and defecating in his pants a week before reporting for his draft board physical to avoid serving during Vietnam. Now he performs on stage with the flag placed right next to him. Maybe ole' W can stand on the other side of Turd Nugget.

His rationale is, as usual, totally spurious. He says "If I weren't employed here," as though he were actually doing any work. As far as I'm concerned, he can take an indefinite leave of absence and go pursue his dreams of romance and derring-do in a "young democracy." He'd look ever so much better as a martyr, don't you think?

If Bozo is so enamored with war, why in the blazes didn't he go fly in 'Nam?

He must now love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Oh, the shame of his actions and words. He needs to check himself into the Betty Ford center or the closest padded cell to the White House.

He recently got rid of the Intelligence Oversight Board on Feb 29, as an Exec. Order (see the link below), as he was afraid that they'd find he was a complete idiot. Actually, as disgusting as this EO was, there was no intelligence in Oval Office, so what was there to oversee???
