Geraldine Ferraro took her fight to NBC Wednesday night. Joining substitute host Ann Curry, Ferraro lashed out at the Obama campaign. She accused them of putting her remarks and questions of racism in the national spotlight.

"If anybody is going to apologize, they should apologize to me for calling me a racist," she said.

She needs to sit back and really think about what she said, then she goes on Fox, not once but twice, because they are probably the only network that would take her. She should apologize, so should Hillary.

Obama's nor anyone from Obama's campaign called her a racist. She is the one playing that card, lets be clear on that. Now she accusing the Obama campaign of going through all the media releases, attacking her, now this is Obama's fault. Her comments are Obama's fault...........

Obama, I hate to tell you this, but Hillary is after your blood. Shame on you Hillary....

You have just now destroyed the Democratic nominee from the election, Thank you Hillary, for killing the message of HOPE.

You have taken your obession to be the nominee, if you win, I will vote for Nader. Nader please make sure your name is on the ticket everywhere.

She hasn't destroyed Obama, only her own good name.

And most important, it''s way past time to get back to the REAL ISSUES and not this phony media-hyped horseshit. That's why Ferraro should just shut up and go away if she doesn't have the courage to admit an obvious mistake,

Classic example of privileged white woman berating any and all questioners. Not only is she a bigot, she is in total denial and feels entitled. Such a sad sight.
The real eye popper was GE/NBC giving her open mic to spew her venon unchallenged by the Katie Couric WannaBe.

She just doesn't get it. Her comments were racist and divisive. She and Hillary would make a great team. They are both combative, divisive old hags who have an edge. Their time and type of politics in the Democratic party are over. Lets move on.

No, it is you and the other Obama fanatics who don't get it. What she said was NOT racist, it is the truth. She said it herself in that piece:

Why is this a historical race? Because he's a Senator from Illinois? No, BECAUSE HE'S BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!! And Hillary is a woman!

It's not a racist, it's not sexist, IT'S THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!

And don't sit there and tell me that the Obama camp had nothing to with any smears. The whole "kid/boy" thing was absolutely shameful. Just looking for any reason to call the Clintons racist, and now Geraldine Ferraro. The fact that you whiny babies are sitting here trying to frame Clinton & Ferraro as racist makes you a disgrace.

Keep it up. Keep it up and you will continue to push those undecideds, who can't stand these immature smear tactics by BOTH sides, into the hands of the Republicans.

How can you call a hypothetical situation the truth ????? " if he were white or if he were a woman....? WELL HE IS NEITHER !!!! so an imaginary situation can never be the truth... say it is my opinion or whatever, but certainly not the "truth".

No. It's not the truth. Are you seriously trying to suggest that being a black man in America is an ASSET? You're nuts. Here's what Ferraro said:

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position." That is a patently racist statement. She's saying that the ONLY REASON Obama is doing well is because he's black. That is a racist statement. Ferraro is a racist.

"Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

Like I said, she's a racist.

I think some people are missing the point. It's not that G.F. is a racist...it's that her comments are calculated, devised to undermine the Obama campaign at great risk to our nation and the party. She didn't say that it's a historic race because he is black...she said that he is only a serious contender because he is black...that he is LUCKY to be black...and that all those who voted for him are just "caught up in the concept" (aka delusional). You can't seriously believe that this was not somehow designed to undermine the Obama camgaign by painting it as "not really qualified and real"...but instead of some kind of subconsious free-pass due to the color of his skin? And not like this was a one time verbal mis-step. She said it repeatedly over the period of almost a whole month!

The way I see all of this is there is a LOT of bitterness and contempt from the old-guard who feel somehow entitled and just can't accept the fact the cherished Clinton name-brand just doesn't have that much value anymore and most poeple are ready for something new. A lot of people are sick of the Bush/Clinton dynasty and would have voted for Obama even if he was white, asian, latino...because of his MESSAGE and call for change!

The funniest part to me is how she could imply that he is "lucky" to be who he is, considering his last name rhymes with the name of the world's #1 terrorist and his middle name is the same as the person over a third of americans (incorrectly) think planned the attacks on 911.

Word!

She's not racist- never been racist. The Clinton's are not racist- never been racist., Her comments were not racist and could only be seen as racist by someone who does not want to admit that the day has come that a biracial MAN (but not a biracial or black woman) candidate can appeal to a specific demographic based on the color of his skin and break 'stereotypes' that only a minority of people cling to and which is used to bash the OTHER candidate by those still willing to make race an issue in the Obama candicacy. Either his race IS the issue, which from all responses, it seems to be, or it ISN'T an issue....but it can't be both ways.
Hillary has also broken the 'good ole white boys club' by being a female candidate... I assume your remarks of 'old hags' is not nationally divisive or insulting to women.....but I would be wrong.
I think Obama would be the first to tell you (at least publically- I don't know about privately) that YOU are offensive and divisive and should stick to the issues of policy and not name calling and that YOUR type (and time) of politics are OVER.....so move on to UNITING democrats instead of trying to turn them into two parties which is good for McCain or Nader (the spoiler).

Right on! Any talk of race is decried as racism, while the amazing level of sexist vitriol lobbed at Ferraro is a nonissue? You all are proving her point.

All she said was people wouldn't be so excited about Obama--the potential first black president--if he weren't black. What's racist about that? Same goes for Clinton--who would be so excited about her if she weren't female? No one would be so excited about the contenders if it were the usual field of white males. Duh.

since you don't know, she was the first woman to be nominated for the position of vice president on the democratic ticket in 1984.

it must be the times. when my boss told me people had complaints about me, i said let them come to me and tell me about it. none of them ever did, but the boss fired me.

I think it is the height of naivite to think that by fuming working class white resentment against Obama will not have an impact on not just this election cycle but many more is amazing.

Even the Republicans have put racial attacks off limits in the fall. There will be attacks from the nut cake fringe of their party, but you will not see former VP candidates, former Presidents associated with their elected US Senator running for President saying the things the Clinton surrogates have said.

This type of race baiting is pathetic.

It's as critically important to go after Dems acting like Repugs. These elephants in donkey's skins need to be exposed and weeded out of the party once and for if there's any hope for the Democratic Party. Otherwise, I'll just keep voting for Nader every four years.
