Jeremiah Wright, Obama's Pastor: "Hillary Ain't Never Been Called A N****r"

Video of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, pastor and mentor to Barack Obama, has been posted. The Reverend defends his most famous constituent and attacks Hillary Clinton, saying, "Hillary ain't never been called a n****r."

Meanwhile, The Blotter has detailed some highly controversial statements by Wright in the past:

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

UPDATE: Politico points out that Wright actually holds a formal position with Obama's campaign:

Wright is a member of Obama's African American Religious Leadership Committee -- the sort of largely honorary, advisory body that in recent days has recently been used mostly to throw people off who say controversial things.

The Obama campaign couldn't immediately say whether he'd remain on the committee.

It is all about Senator Obama's lack of leadership and judgement.

So it is that Senator Obama is the candidate for change, huh? He heard his pastor make remarks that he knew were controversial. Senator Obama heard his pastor make statements that he strongly disagreed with. After a twenty-year relationship with the pastor did the Senator not know of his spiritual leader"s underlying ideology? Did the Senator not realize that this ideology was in it self divisive. Did he not know Pastor Wright"s statements were divisive? Does Senator Obama not realize that stereo typing people is divisive? All Senator Obama has done is widen the racial divide in this country.

Were the Senator serious about closing the racial divide a good starting point might have been his own church starting about 20 years ago. Yet, in all those years he was unable or incapable of closing the racial gap. Is that the sign of a leader?

How in the world can anyone possibly believe the Senator from Illinois can bring about change or racial understanding when he can"t even do it within his own church? Its odd that given Senator Obama"s position of power that his opinion was never sought by the leadership councils of Trinity Church. And if, for the sake of argument, his input was sought why was it ignored? I mean after all he does possess powerful leadership abilities, right?

Senator Obama"s church produced a CD titled "The Best of Pastor Wright". A CD that it proudly offered for sale to the public. Am I to believe that the church did not give its best-known and most politically powerful member a copy? Am I to believe that Senator Obama never watched that CD or any member of his staff? I find that impossible to believe.

As it turns out Senator Obama tried his best to hide Pastor Wright from the American public. So much for his alleged honesty and openness.

Certainly, I haven"t led the privileged life in America as Michel Obama has. Yet, I have always been proud of America all of my adult life. For more than 57 years I have been proud to be a citizen of the freest country in the world. I have been proud to a member of the most open society on earth. I am pound to be a part of a culture that allows everyone to freely express their opinion regardless of how hateful and division that opinion might be. Had I not been I would have relocated. If you don"t like it here there are always options.

As my parents taught me, and I taught my children; there is no place for hate in America.

Oh, about me? Well I"m just "a typical white man."

Well, pardon me but HE IS RIGHT! As another blogger pointed out, he did not say Obama does not know what it is like to be call a B****. If he had said that and asked for race and gender harmony thing would be different but on the merits of it what he said was true. It was just POLITICALLY INCORRECT a little too hard edged.

DO YOU REALLY BELIVE THIS TYPE OF COMMENT ( WRIGHT )COULD HAVE BEEN MADE BY A WHITE PERSON. BACK TO THE POINT, NO ONE WOULD CARE WHAT OBAMA BELEIVED IN , AS FAR AS WHAT HE SUPPORTS THROUGH HIS CHURCH & MINISTER OF TWENTY YEARS, EXCEPT THAT HE WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. I DON'T BELEIVE ANYONE WHO ASSOCIATED THEMSELVES WITH THAT TYPE OF RADICAL IDEOLOGY FOR 20 TWENTY YEARS COULD SERVE AS PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY HIS CHURCH DENOUCES. HE MAY AS WELL HAVE BEEN LOUIS FARAKAN'S BEST FRIEND. THEY ARE THE RACISTS.
NOW, HE WANTS TO PLAY THE RACE CARD, POOR ME ,THEY'RE ATTACKING ME CAUSE I'M BLACK. I WONDER IF WHEN HE WAS GOING THROUGH HIS SCHOOLING IF HE HAD TO TAKE THE SAME TESTS AS WHITE STUDENTS OR WAS GRADED THE SAME OR WHAT OTHER BENEFITS WERE BESTOWED ON HIM BECAUSE OF HIS RACE. IF HE WANTS TO HIDE BEHIND THAT, LET'S HEAR ALL OF IT.

I've listened to and watch the reports on television concerning Reverend Wright these past few days. One point still seems not be reported. While people keep on saying Obama is guilty by association, they fail to look at Obama accurately and objectively. Barack was raised by a white mother and his white grandparents. Anytime I have heard him talk about these family members, he exhibits clear admiration for these people. Does anyone really think that Barack would move to Chicago and basically condone speeches such as these that degrade his mother, his grandparents, his children, and himself. Seriously, it just logically does not make sense.

Please media, remember that Barack is not an African American candidate, he is a bi-racial candidate. Stop trying to paint him as the "black" candidate. Such is an action of pigeonholing and stereotyping someone. I think we are all better than that.

Obama's pastor is correct when he claims that Hillary doesn't know what it's like to be called a n*****. He forgot to mention that Obama doesn't know what it's like to be called a b****. BOTH are abhorrent. Too bad our political, heirarchical system pits these two candidates against each other. The system if flawed, not Hillary or Obama. Neither are perfect, but can certainly bring wonderful qualities and life experience to US leadership that are desperately needed. Dear African-Americans and dear white women... we are in this together and need to listen to our unique experiences of suffering and help each other. God help us -- but without preachers who only acknowledge the suffering they see in the mirror.

Incidentally, Hillary has a long history of valuing civil rights activists and speaking out against racism. I'm at a loss to recall what Obama has done to speak out against the scourge of sexism.

I suppose the 'good' reverent doesn't think being called a bicth or worse matters or equates with having been called the N word. Idiot.

What's worst than being called a "n"? I a black woman, so keep that in mind. Thanks!

Maybe Hillary hasn't been called the "N" word but we all know she has been called worse, don't we. Especially on blogs like these. Sorry black people aren't the only one's who have been discriminated against. and preaching hate and attending a hate church isn't what any one wants in a President. obama is done now maybe the media will analyze the sleazy campaign obama has actually run..

To defend Geraldine Ferraro -- did you know she is also quoted as saying that when she was chosen as a VP running mate she KNEW it was only because she was a woman?

She knew the DNC wanted a woman on the ticket and she was just "lucky" to be the one chosen.

She said the same thing about herself. She was making a point that the DNC wants more minorities in public office.

Geraldine Ferraro was a ground-breaker in her day.

As a DA in New York in her younger years, she was well known as a major force.

And she was then assigned to the bench as a judge one of few women.

You guys know NOTHING about this woman yet you smear her.

You know NOTHING about Rev. Wright yet you defend him and Obama.

Wright supports Farakan. Farakan is ANTI-white. Connect the dots.

I never saw so many people ignorant about history rushing to make judgments about Ferraro and excuses for Obama's pastor.

I see the Obama haters are out tonight. here is some logic. I like Elvis's music. Elvis abused drugs. therefore I support drug abuse. I admire Bobby Fisher's chess genius. Bobby Fisher was an anti-semite. Therefore I hate the Jews. I can go on. But wait, you protest, Elvis's music wasn't about drug abuse. Well when Obama was listening to Rev. Wright, he wasn't preaching hate either. Guilt by association is bullshit.

If Elvis married you and your wife and preached to you for 17 years, your argument makes more sense...

the worst thing about this, even worse then wright's words or obama's association with him, is the fact that a year ago obama and wright talked about distancing themselves from eachother. he knew it. he knew there was a political risk here, which means he knew what wright stood for, which means he agreed with at least some of it. why else let him have such influence over you? why is michele obama's race-based thesis from princeton locked up? i think we know why now. this is bad for barack. he knew about this and he didn't get away from it years and years ago. he knew this guy was with the black panthers. he knew all of it. so not only has he condoned for all these years wright's beliefs, he just lied to everyone about it. ironic that the title 'audacity of hope' came from one of wright's sermons. it takes on a whole new meaning. this is why candidates are vetted. obama was just rendered unelectable.

I understand vetting the posts with such inflamitory possibilities, so I know this post might take a while to get on.
The Clintons are Methodist, although Hillary will visit other churches while on the road. And this is a link to the church they visited while in the White House:

Where is the hatred? Where is the bigotry? The man is telling truth to power like his namesake Jeramiah of the Old Testament. If you think this reverend was a firebreather, read wht Jeramiah had to say to the rich who ran the goverment.

I wonder if we could get the Kennedy's to weigh in again on how Obama reminds them of JFK, and MLK. I loved every minute of the JFK run to the Whitehouse, and the words of MLK. For the life of me, not once do I remember hearing their pastors/mentors/teachers/friends believed and spoke to how much they hated this country and the white people in it.

"Who cares who about what poor people go through" etc, "Romans were rich white people"

true.

Why do people disagreee that rich white people control everything? And why weren't these quotes used?
