Stephen Colbert

John Gibson, host of Fox News "The Big Story" (and perhaps best known of late for mocking actor Heath Ledger shortly after his death) has been stripped of his TV show, "The Big Story." Gibson will remain a fixture on Fox News radio, but America's Election HQ, hosted by Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly, will remain indefinitely in his old time slot, the network confirmed this week.

Last night, Stephen Colbert mocked Gibson, saying, "There's obviously only one big lead story tonight: an influential figure who many of us considered a moral leader has let America down and has been forced to leave his post. Of course I speak of Fox News' John Gibson." Colbert continued mocking Gibson in the clip below, which also includes Colbert's discussion of Eliot Spitzer, who was a guest on "The Colbert Report" the day before his Washington liaison with Emperors Club call girl "Kristen" aka Ashley Alexandra Dupre.

It's startling how many people are afraid of Keith Olbermann. There are more than one off-topic attacks on him in this thread about Gibson.

Keith must really be getting traction to rankle so many. Every attack on him just brings his numbers up and up as people investigate for themselves what all the fuss is about.

I never understood the appeal of that smarmy, condescending, rabbit-faced, albino skeleton.

Whenever someone badmouths someone of their same profession it just makes them look petty and small.

Gibson will remain a fixture... ceramic, in the Fox men's room.

Lots of "guests".

After reading a few of these posts. It just never ceases to amaze me how much hate goes on here over FOX NEWS all the while accusing FOX of the same. I wonder how many people here have ever watched FOX other than sound bytes from clips that are spun to "slant' the news. So what I gather is any other opinion of the news or reporting than what only suits the left is then attacked as hate mongering. Is that right?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:41 AM on 03/14/2008

I guess you don't see the difference between the readers posting comments to a blog post and the actual blog post, itself? Well, then, I guess you're really mad at O'Reily for that post calling for the murder of Hillary Clinton that was posted on his site.

But, I could be wrong. Perhaps you think anything said against your position is "hate". This post read pretty much like a standard news paper to me, and not the opinion page. Yes, this site posts opinions... but they don't try to pass them off as "news" like Fox "News" does... and there are actual conservitives who post opinions here... though they are the minority. Fox has what, Colms? Yeah, that's a strong advocate for progressive and/or liberal views.

Maybe you need to take the time to consinder these sound bites in the context they were made and ask yourself what it is that you are buying into.

As for the "Perhaps I think anything said against my position is hate." Scroll down. Maybe you could have someone read them to you. And I personally have been attacked here. Not the substance of what I say, but attacked personally with name calling, you know the usual here with those who disagree.I will admit I do a lot of tongue in cheek posting here because poking libs in the chest is rather amusing and the lack of believing in anything is a fascination for me and the predictability of Libs is nearly 100%. I have watched Bill O for the last five years and fail to see what is called hate. In fact, if he has riled me in anyway it is for going soft on the Libs when I thought he should have exposed them.

I've watched. And it does lean right. I have a tough time watching Brit Hume. I have watched Hannity and Colmes, but Hannity makes me want to punch the TV. And I have given O'Reilly a chance often but his views and his methods are not to my liking. The Sunday show they have has one liberal view point [Juan Williams] and it's a moderate one at best.

That is fair and the leaning right part is intentional from FOX. It is a fine balance than listening to the likes of Olberman, Matthews and Dobbs who spew hatred and angst. I listen to all the shows I can from both sides. In fact, my reacquaintance with CNN and MSNBC has been a scream.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:29 PM on 03/14/2008

Lean right??? Man it leaps to the right and proudly stands there for all to see. What they have to proud of, is anybody's guess.

Yeah, I don't like Brussel Sprouts and Broccoli either, but they are good for you. On a more serious note, Hannity does need to chill out quite a bit and let the guests answer.

Fox News "leans right." They fall right on their face and can get back up due to their rightward imbalance.

FLAGGED for thinking the press should be an arm of whatever regime is in power.
FLAGGED for not understanding the concept of a free press.
FLAGGED for trying to equate the nonsensical press releases of Fox News with actual journalism and reportage.

no, you are not right. they lie and Ailes says so outloud. Also, studies of people who watch different
news outlets taking simple tests over the news find that Fox news watchers are wrong 74% of the time.. They get one out of four simple questions about the world and the news WRONG because Faux Spews lies to them. Other outlets score high and the highest are those who watch the Daily show. they got it right in the 94% range.

Watch fox and stay stupid or open your mind and go elsewhere. Yeah, those lefties. they tell the truth. I guess some people's balls and brains are too small to handle it.

It's not so much that Fox is conservative. It's that they're so Republican. You might as well just have the White House fax you the daily talking points and skip the middle man.

Hard to beleive you can be relieved of your duties at Fox for being rude and insulting. Oh, wait.
Heath Ledger was a movie star, not a democrat or a "liberal".

Yes, or how about that guy Baghdad Bob who used to make up crazy statements for Saddam like "We have the Americans surrounded." He could be re-trained to be a Bush administration sycophant and would do well at Fox.

Just remember that when Clinton left office that oil was at $35.00 a barrel, and now its at $110. This should be a daily reminder what bust and the republic party has done for you and our fellow citizens for the past 71/2 years. I know that right winger only care about money, even though most of the don't have any. The fact that so many have died becaues of their policies, I'm sure has no effect on them, but money, now thats important.

"Just remember that when Clinton left office that oil was at $35.00 a barrel, and now its at $110. " I guess that George W. Bush would call that "Mission Accomplished."

I remember one moron, eight years ago, saying that he was going to vote for Bush because "He'll bring gas down to 98 cents a gallon." Idiots!

They need to round up all those who voted for Bush, give them a rifle and body armor, and send them to fight in Iraq. Ignorant Bastards.

I remember being told back in 2000 that we needed to elect an oil man to the White House so that he could keep the price of oil down. How's that working out so far?

You can't seriously be this stupid, are you?

Oil is expensive because of the weak US dollar coupled with India and China's new found appetite for oil......

Like you liberals love to say: WAKE UP!!!!!!

Curiously, there seems to be an inverse relationship between the price of a barrel of oil and the IQ of the occupant of the Oval Office: the price of oil is 3 times the price then and the IQ of the president now is 1/3 of what it was then.

One could call this the "Law of Conservation of the Presi-troleum Quota," to wit: the price of a barrel of oil ($oil) multiplied by the president's intelligence quotient (PrIQ) is a constant and can be expressed in the formula: $Oil x PrIQ=C. In other words, the bigger the PrIQ, the less we have to worry about the $oil problem.

At one time, a decade ago, Gibson seemed decent. He has become a scum these last 10 years. Hard to believel how rotten Fox News itself has become. Vile. It's a network that Adolph would have been proud to see today. Everytime I do view Fox, I somehow feel that maybe America did lose WW2 afterall.

I had given up on the MSM news UNTIL catching Keith Olbermann a while back. Everyone I know watches him now and a couple folks at work who still watch Fox are not the brightest, so who can blame them?

I am sure Fox will find new blood with even more hate and who can be more disgusting a human. I know they will ... they've not varied yet.

I'm waiting for the ditto-heads, right-wing nut-jobs, and all the other simpatico hyphenated misanthropes to claim that Gibson's being dropped is just further proof of the Liberal conspiracy against Christmas.

C'mon you Kook-Aid* drinkers -- ya know ya wanna!
