Mark Penn:

Mark Penn: "Obama Really Can't Win The General Election"

Though the campaign later argued that he hadn't said it, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's chief campaign strategist told reporters this morning that Sen. Barack Obama "can't win the general election."

Mark Penn made the comment during a conference call in which the Clinton campaign and two of her supporters -- Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter -- argued that Obama has sent Pennsylvanians a bad signal by allegedly downplaying the importance of that state's April 22 primary. They made the case that this memo from Obama campaign manager David Plouffe (which Nutter said the author should be fired for writing), would come back to haunt Obama in the fall if he is the Democratic nominee.

Yeah, and Mark Penn and Hillary are doing everything to ensure that. The blind ambition of these people makes me sick.

Egghead says in a post, 'Mark, dear, you really can't count.'
Nohat says, here, 'He really doesn't have to.'
He doesn't have to count; he just has to count ON certain things...that he knows are true of whole swathes of the country.
I support Obama.
Hillary is just warming up.
Obama needs to watch his back.

and OBAMA BRINGS EARMRAK DOLLARS FOR HIS WIFE!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, Riehl notes that Obama obtained this earmark:

Obama Requested $1 Million For Construction Of A New Hospital Pavilion At The University Of Chicago. In 2006, Obama requested that the University of Chicago receive $1 million to support its Construction of New Hospital Pavilion. For more than 75 years, the University of Chicago Hospitals (UCH) has provided state of the art medical care on the South Side of Chicago.

Then Riehl points out:

From the Campaign Spot to NRO’s Byron York. Looks like Daddy-O brought home the bacon so Mommy-O could bring home even more bacon, too.

"In 2006, the Chicago Tribune reported that Mrs. Obama’s compensation at the University of Chicago Hospital, where she is a vice president for community affairs, jumped from $121,910 in 2004, just before her husband was elected to the Senate, to $316,962 in 2005, just after he took office." Looks like that raise was worth it.

Andy’s comment in the thread at TalkLeft says it all:

Exactly the point of this post. It is and has been Obama the one whose raison d’etre as candidate has been his “different kind of politics” (anti-special interests, etc etc etc.).

What this proves sis that he is just another politician. There would be nothing wrong with it except that his “urgency” of a Presidential run was based on “changing Washington” and the “politics as usual.”

Ahem….

Gee..to bad we didn't have any records of Hillarys to compare.
If she weren't hiding something she would have had those papers out , on day one, to back up all of her bragging. She won't even bring out her tax returns. Clintons have always used dirty politics in every campaign, look it up, and they always will. She will do and say anything to get back in the White House.
If you look up all of his record you will find that he done a lot of good things also. If your looking for a politician that has never used his pull to help family and friends, you'll never find it. Every politician has something they are not proud of, it is to what degree. The republicans are in trouble now also.
Obama is at least willing to put his information out there for people to see. He is trying to stay focused on issues and run his campaign, but everytime he turns around there is another petty slam out there that he has to address.
Clinton needs to remember that they are both from the same party and back off.

As for Penn's words. He is from the Clinton camp, of course he would say something like this. Where is the surprise? And of course Clinton would lie for him.
