The Democratic presidential ticket will be a "Dream Team," Nancy Pelosi said Thursday, it just won't have both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's name on it.

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, the House Speaker reiterated comments she made earlier in the week that the two presidential candidates will not end up sharing a ticket.

"I do think we will have a dream team, it just won't be those two names," She said. "Whoever our nominee is and whoever he or she is and whoever he or she chooses, will be a dream team as the Democrats go forward."

When pressed further about the possibility of a joint ticket, Pelosi stated flatly, "Take it from me, that won't be the ticket."

Keep reading here.

Watch the video below:

On Tuesday, Pelosi deemed a joint ticket with Obama and Clinton "impossible," citing Clinton's statements that McCain would make a more experienced commander-in-chief than Obama. ">Read more and watch the video here.

How funny it is that many posts on here are attacking Pelosi for stating the obvious. I wonder if they'd be as anti-Pelosi if she hadn't cited H. Clinton's tacit endorsement of McCain, and instead said the reason was because something Obama did.

I agree. It is so obvious on so many levels. Why would Obama offer Clinton the VP spot, and why would Clinton offer Obama the VP spot? Neither ticket makes sense.

So you don't see a problem with Hillary pissing off an important Voting block? Well the Republicans don't have do any more to Obama, with Hillary's campaign scorched earth policy.

Clinton should drop out. But if you see her tactics as OK!, then the country has learned nothing and McCain should win to advance what Bush has started in the last 8 years. How's the War and the Economy working for you.?

It was nice to see Senator Clinton sitting next to Obama and talking to him in the Senate chamber where they both appeared to vote in favour of a bill.
Now as Pelosi she should stick to perhaps start proceedings to impeach Bush for the lies that sent
the nation to an expensive war in Iraq.
And Pelosi should not make statements about a dream ticket. Let Hillary and Obama worry about it when the time comes. I still think that a dream ticket is possible and supporters of Hillary and Obama should press for it. If Obama wins the nomination he should select Hillary asV.P and she should accept it and if Hillary wins she should pick and Obama should accept the V.P post inspite of what has been said. Lot of things will be said during campaign and one should not be too rigid about comments made. Wait till the fight to the finish and when it is all over. A dream ticket will no doubt defeat the Republicans. And being a V.P is nothing to be ashamed about. It is almost a strong position that is a step away from Presidency.
Now as for Obama who has said that he isa devout Catholic he should legally drop his middle name which is Hussein and is a muslim name. I am sure that even the muslims do not want Hussein associated with someone who is a devout catholic.

I am an Obama supporter, a Democrat of 28 years standing, and I have some power in the party.

And I can tell you that this whole "dream ticket" nonsense is nothing but adolescent nonsense. This is the kind of prattle I accept from my 12 year old, but not from adults.

There is not one chance in a million that either of them would have the other on the ticket. Not one. Only the most simple minded of fools could believe otherwise.

Clinton is doing nothing more that trying to siphon a few votes away from Obama, in her desperation. If she offered to sell you a bridge, that offer would be no more sincere than her musings about sharing a ticket with Obama.

And I for one do not want him to join her ticket or ask her to join his. She is not even a Democrat. It is all I can do to tolerate her having a seat in the Senate. The sooner she and Bill are forgotten, the happier I'll be.

It will have to be a white man. White male voters are far, far too insecure to vote for a black man for a president, and a Latino for VP. Just won't happen.

I expect John Edwards.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:17 PM on 03/13/2008

If he gets the nomination, which I think will happen, I don't expect anyone other than whom Obama picks himself. That is the candidate's perogative. Having said that, I would like someone like Governor Sibelius of Kansas. She is white, a woman, has executive experience and a clean record and would not only bring in her red state Kansas, but other red western states could be impressed with that move.

Sebelius's response to the SOTU speech was tepid at best, but she might be a very solid pol. Yet, what works in Kansas might not work nationally. McCaskill has shown deftness as a co-chair of Obama's campaign (I can't think of anyone who has done a better job of arguing for Obama), and I think she will do well in the VP debates, but I'm not sure about her voting record. It seems very Clintonian.

Pelosi isn't the firebrand we had hoped, but she is clear as a bell on this one. There are some choice names thrown about for Obama's VP. Dream ticket stuff. All except Hillary.

Don't agree with her about impeachment being off the table, but let's hope she's as stubborn about this as she was about that.

It should be Bill Richardson, he has plenty of diplomatic experience that would be complimentary to Obama. Richardson was ambassador to the UN and secretary of the Department of Energy. He also has dealt with hostage situations in North Korea and Iraq and has a great 7 point plan to get out of Iraq. It's too bad he didn't get a fair presidential bid, he was virtually unmentioned in the media. Oh, and take a look at what he's done with immigration in New Mexico. Anyway, Does anybody actually want an Obama/Clinton ticket after what has gone on?

By not standing up and endorsing a candidate, Richardson has shown his true colors, pursuing selfish political expediency at the expense of acting in a principled manner. What about Obama and Biden?

I don't think so. My money is on Senator Jim Webb of Virginia. Military experience, Secretary of the Navy under Reagan, ex-republican, out-spoken anit-Iraq War, author, Southern white male...perfect. Bill Richardson might not be a bad choice either. That would redeem Obama with the Hispanic voters. But really, two minorities might be too much.

I agree. I don't think Richardson or Edwards should even be an option at this point. Edwards, especially. He could have come out and put an end to the Clinton destruction machine, and he didn't, because he's jockeying for something. Loser.

I doubt it will be any of this year's crop of presidential candidates. They've already shown they don't draw votes or money. Maybe a general like Wes Clark, who thinks the surge is working. It's going to be someone to draw in the "moderates" and independents, which means someone to the right of the candidate.

Remember folks, they're supposedly running to the left now to appeal to the Democratic base. What a joke.

URGENT: From Blacks 4 Barack:
The 'WE WILL NOT BE CHEATED' Campaign !

Out of desperation, the Clinton campaign is now stooping to extreme lows by having surrogate Geraldine Ferraro in the media making racist statements against Barack Obama. Also, it is a fact that even if Hillary wins Pennsylvania there is absolutely no way she can get enough delegate votes to defeat Obama. And her BIG ploy now is to have a 're-do' in Michigan and Florida, despite the fact that this would be a changing of the rules in the middle of the game which should not be allowed. She then hopes that, after stealing the nomination, she will offer Obama the V.P. slot....figuring that if he excepts, Obama supporters will vote for her....while if he does not....she would at least look like she offered the slot. THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE ! Her tactics will end up extremely detrimental to the Democratic Party. It is time to let the DNC know that if Hillary wins through ANY methods deemed trickery (which is the only way she can win) WE....THE PEOPLE WILL NOT SUPPORT HER IN THE GENERAL ELECTION ! National radio talk show host Warren Ballentine is asking EVERYONE to call the DNC at 202-863-8000 to let them know 'We Will Not Support A Cheater !'We need 50 thousand people to FLOOD THE PHONES !!! So Call Today !!!! 202-863-8000. Say It Loud....WE WILL NOT SUPPORT A CHEATER.....PERIOD!!! Tell everyone you know to make this call. The Time Is NOW....To Take Back OUR America !!!!

Here's where I think The CrazyTrain has clearly pulled out of the station.

25 MILLION people have voted already in Democratic Primaries. 13 million voted for Barack, 12 million for Hillary.

I understand the desire to claim victory, win and move on - but no matter who the winner is - 1/2 of the voting democrats are going to see their candidate lose. I believe the ticket must have these two fine people - I think it should be Barack at the top and Hillary as #2. I think they should agree to that now and get down to the business of beating McCain. The margin separating Obama and Hillary is about 3-4% of the popular vote. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Talk is talk and frankly, will be forgotten in a year. Party elders need to use their positions and get this ticket settled.

Think about it this way - the group they keep saying is backing Hillary the strongest - older, white women and blue collar workers - will they back Obama or vote for McCain? I'm not sure. I do know that if she's sharing the ticket - they will vote D in the fall.

Calm down and think.

Excuse me, but talk is not just talk. It's often a window into someone's character and causes irreparable damage at times. I will never forget the missteps of the Clintons' "talk" during this primary. Endorsing McCain over Obama? That could seriously hurt the Democrats in the general, and when it does, no one will forget.

Hillary doesn't have the moral integrity or character to stand next to Obama. She would only bring him down. Why would he want someone who endorsed McCain over him on his ticket? That's basically what Pelosi is saying. Let's face it, Hillary blew it.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:33 PM on 03/13/2008

I agree. I think it was the opinion of many Dems that these two candidates would have been a dream ticket, but Senator Clinton's decision to characterize John McCain as preferable to Obama has made that idea a thing of the past. Clinton will apparently say anything, however harmful to our party, in order to win the nomination. That kind of selfishness is counterproductive and ensures that she will not be asked to join his ticket.

I'm a guy, and my thought is that women aren't going to be happy to get stuck with the #2 spot, business as usual. Especially when the woman is older and more experienced, and a lot less naive appearing. Also, Obama has painted himself into a corner by saying he's not interested in being a VP. Being VP is a much better job than say junior senator. All of the VP's I remember in the past either went on to become president, or went on to bigger and better things. Whoever takes the VP slot gets to sit pretty in the #2 spot, then move up in rank 8.5 years from now. And Hillary is going to be too old to do anything but retire at that point.

There is no room for logic here; didn't you get the memo?

Seriously, I agree with your points; most folks here tend to not acknowledge the 12 million people (so far) that support Clinton. Just because their guy is ahead, they think it's a done deal. Obviously, most are a bit new to the process. This is a chess game, and you have to think ahead.

That said, I disagree with who you have at the top of the ticket as I fear the GOP will kick BO’s butt with regard to experience during wartime. Yes, they’ll try to do the same to HRC as well, but you can almost hear the chants of “He’s only spent one year on the national stage,” etc. Had he been a governor and not just a senator, he could push his experience. But not having run anything the size of a state, and going up against a former POW in wartime, the GOP will eat him for lunch. And this is where I think Hillary can hold her own. She can stand up to them better than he can as she has been doing so since 1992. There, she does have experience.

It's unfortunate, but Hillary would be an albatross around Obama's neck in the GE. She has far too many negatives. And whatever positives she brings can be found elsewhere.

As well, since she went so negative the past month, there is little reason for Obama to give her the VP slot. She has slandered and played dirty and tried to cut him down. Largely failing, but it shows her type of personality won't fit in well with Obama's. Just her negative presence on the ticket would undercut one of his central themes. They would be an extremely awkward fit. Perhaps if she hadn't gone into the gutter when she fell behind... but that was her choice to make.

I like Obama/Richardson myself. Richardson has a lot of great qualifications, and his personal style would fit in with Obama's pretty nicely. A black man for pres and a latino for vp!

Based on the job Pelosi has done as Speaker, she's not exactly the voice many are willing to listen to. When she can start doing her job the way the voters expected her to, she may find herself in a better position of being heard. Nancy, the people who you so brazenly ignore, hereby give you the same absence of respect. Sit down, and wait until we ask for your opinion.

Any ticket with Barack on it is not a dream ticket.

What kind of a leader is he, trying to squirm out of having a re-vote in Fla and Mich?

A real leader does what is right.

And that isn't him.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:41 PM on 03/13/2008

Get your facts straight -- Obama has already agreed to a fair re-vote in Fla and Mich.

A real leader does what is right.

Hillary wants to seat the Michigan delegates even though Obama wasn't even on ticket. That's right?

No it isnt. Hillary isn't ready to lead, She needs to step aside for the new generation.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:28 PM on 03/13/2008

The rules stated that those states delegates would not be seated. Now that Sen. Clinton hasn't wrapped this up in Feb 5th, as she promised, they suddenly should count.

There should be no revote.

What's right is following the rules, not trying to change them when you're losing the game. She's pathetic. She said she didn't care about Floridian and Michigan votes in the beginning, but now it's all about the voters being heard. Give me a break. Are you really stupid enough to buy into this BS?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:03 PM on 03/13/2008

That's Clinton propaganda. I think Obama would want a revote in Michigan definitely because he would win. And it's the Clinton supporters like Jeralyn Merritt of TalkLeft who want both states seated as is. Clinton herself has called the two illegal primaries "fair". You are talking out of your you-know-what.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:07 PM on 03/13/2008
