Bill's Ex-Counsel: Hillary Is "Misleading The American Public"

Clinton Duo

Huffington Post   First Posted: 03/28/08 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:25 PM ET

Greg Craig, former counsel to Bill Clinton and now Obama supporter, sat down for an interview with National Journal. His comments reflected more strongly a memo he had penned last week, suggesting that Hillary's claims of experience were overblown. An excerpt from the interview:

Q: But was that experience, do you think, that is -- having a lot of influence with advisers, giving private advice to her husband -- was that experience that has helped prepare her to be commander in chief?

Craig: Oh, I don't doubt that. The point that I am making is that her claims of the nature of that experience are overstated. The fact is she did not sit in on national security meetings. She did not have a security clearance. She did not attend meetings in the situation room. She conducted no negotiations. She did not manage any part of the national security bureaucracy. She did not have her own national security staff. That's the fact. Now the experience that she did have -- watching and sometimes sitting in the room where discussions were going on and also meeting heads of state and foreign ministers -- that is good experience, and it's invaluable to understanding how the world works when it comes to international organizations as well as international negotiations.

Read the whole interview here.

The Clinton camp responded quickly, noting a contradiction between this statement and other statements. Only last week Craig claimed:

When your entire campaign is based upon a claim of experience, it is important that you have evidence to support that claim. Hillary Clinton's argument that she has passed "the Commander- in-Chief test" is simply not supported by her record.

The comments by Craig come at a time when the Clinton camp is facing increasing scrutiny over the former First Lady's record.

The Boston Globe reported this morning that Sen. Clinton had less to do with the passage of the SCHIP program in the early 90s, and cites Republican Orrin Hatch who, with Sen. Ted Kennedy, helped spear the legislation:

"The White House wasn't for it. We really roughed them up" in trying to get it approved over the Clinton administration's objections, Hatch said in an interview. "She may have done some advocacy [privately] over at the White House, but I'm not aware of it."

"I do like her," Hatch said of Hillary Clinton. "We all care about children. But does she deserve credit for SCHIP? No - Teddy does, but she doesn't."

Why don't the news media expose Hillarys fradulant lies and let the people of our great country decide if they are willing to have more of Bush tactics: LIES AND MORE LIES! Don't we deserve better for our families and for our country? We are sliding fast into the brink of ruin and all people are concerned about is selecting a "woman" for president no matter how corrupt and deceitful she is. I guess these are the same people that voted for Bush twice. We cannot afford to repeat this mistake again. CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CBS, report on Clintons blatant lies and get her to step aside for the integrity of the party. The democratic party is being destroyed by this beguiled woman who will destroy anything and everything just to get her way. Please, stop the bleeding!
By the way, news media-please rest the Wright issue and pick on Hillary now. It is her turn to take the heat.

A colleague of mine is working on a major research; I gave him few key Informants to interview. I also gave him several relevant research papers. Do I deserve to say, I worked on this research? Can I put this in my CV, as one of the researcher I conducted? The answer is an unequivocal NO and if I do, I can easily be fired for misrepresenting my experience.

This is the latest Obama surrogate to attack Hillary Clinton. Next time he claims that he is waging a new campaign that is beyond such partisan attacks, will someone please remind him that he is misleading us.

This guy is a snake. He is trying to use his former relationship with the Clintons to hurt Senator Clinton. He owes a duty of loyalty to his former client, Bill Clinton. Although his comments against Hillary don't violate the letter of that duty, he surely is violating the spirit of that duty.

But Americans are not blind to people like him. The last person to try to capitalize on his former relationship with Bill to strike out against Hillary lost big. David Wilhem, Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign chair, came out in favor of Obama right before the Ohio primary and was all over the airwaves singing his praises and dumping on Hillary. It got him nowhere. He looked like a fool.

This is guy is just as bad. Who cares what he thinks!

hilary tries to "look" experienced by having all those retired generals endorsing her - what that simply means is that those old fuddy daddadies are out of a job and hope that if Hilary in the unlikely event becomes president will reward them with some plum posting. Just study the Clinton history as far back as it goes - it's a classic trademark of their legacy....

Her experience is squat - and while she may be very details oriented and know her subjects quite well that does not make her a suitable candidate for president / CEO of the country - maybe Barrack could appoint secretary of health or something - but she definetely can not be president.

Sorry hilary fans it sounds like Hilary bashing but that really is the reality on the ground.

All candidates lie about what they did and try to maintain a perception they did more than what is real.

Hilary lied more than anyone else - I mean she just takes it to a WHOLE new level. you gotta hand it to her can lie so brazenly I would almost vote for her - maybe she could pull off her lies with other nation leaders and kid them into believing she is a capable commander-in-chief, just in case they getting ideas to invade you know....hahahah..what a laughing stock Americans would be - for being so gullible ..get over it she is would be liar-in-chief

We need to have this out in front of the people every day, Olbermann and Matthews need to get this man on their shows and he needs to put in an appearance on the Today Show and Good Morning, America. A spot on Morning Joe won't hurt either. Hillary Clinton has no more experience than Barack Obama has except in the case of having met and had tea with more of the bigwigs and their wives. Listening to my physician neighbor speak of surgical procedures does NOT make me a doctor or physician's assistant. I might even know what kind of bandage to recommend on a Saturday afternoon to help an itching problem but in no way would I be qualified to operate. The analogy applies, talking to the wife of another nation's president or prime minister does NOT make HRC "Ready to lead on Day One!" or any other. She will have to learn the hard way just like anyone else. Hillary is dividing the Democratic Party and like bushit with his ego, hubris, and stupidity, WILL NOT see it for what it is, a stubborn claw-hold on "her turn". She needs to get over herself and grow up. If she were to gain the nomination, I am very afraid it will simply be business as usual in Washington.

Serial liar. How about her claim she helped broker the North Ireland peace talks. That lie was denounced by the actual participants of that process. OOPS, got a plumbing leak, better call the plumber's wife.

Obama is also misleading the public. They're politicians. It's tradition that politicians mislead to some extent.

More and more I'm reminded of Clara Peller and her call of "Where's the beef?"

Hillary's deceptions have been ongoing for a long time. Thank God you still have any freedom...at all.
"Beware of Wolve's in Sheeps clothing". She will tell you what pleases your ego and put her arms around your children...but see what she tried to do more than a decade ago, but was "stopped". Yes, she WILL garnish our paychecks with her Mandatory Healthcare plan. No Freedom of choice.
Just check the 1996 bill submitted to congress by Hillary Clinton and look who saved all America's butts, which includes all our children. Please begin your learning experience here:

High time Hillary's b.s. is exposed. Talk about "padding" your resume! If being First Lady in any way qualifies her, than Laura Bush ought to think about running this year. Maybe we could drag old Barbara Bush back to Washington for a shot at the Oval Office, too.

My girlfriend asked me today whether Bill will be carrying Hillary over this threshold too, the "commander-in-chief threshold," making the point that her claim to experience is because being First Lady.

Ariana, What a bogus story this one is. I guess you had to come up with something negative about Hillary, to trump the Obama's racist, psycho Pastor story.

Too bad because other news organizations, besides you and MSNBC, have been covering the story 24/7 now.

Keep up your level of professionalism. Such journalists.
