Dems Sign On For More Debates — Will Katie Get Her Day?

It looks like Katie Couric may finally get her chance to moderate a Presidential debate. ABC News' Ed O'Keefe reports,

Both candidates have accepted an ABC News debate in Philadelphia and Obama has accepted a similar invitation from CBS News to debate at a location to be determined in North Carolina.

The CBS News debate would be their first debate of the 2008 campaign season.

Couric is, notoriously, the only prominent anchor, on cable or network news, to not moderate a debate in this extensive primary season (there have been 20 debates thus far). CBS News was forced to cancel their planned December debate due to complications from the Writers' Guild of America strike, though the New York Observer also speculated that CBS was reluctant to shell out the money necessary for a primetime debate.

Obama should not accept Couric as a moderator. She will want to make headlines, and will sensationalize anything for her own needs. She does not know what she is doing journalistically speaking, and it might be a nightmare scenario!!!

Couric does not deserve to host a debate because she is inept as a political reporter.

Reference her pathetic, deplorable interview of Sen. Clinton on 60 Minutes. Feb.(?) 2008. It was all focused on the personal and the past, not the issues. Gossip, criticisms of her appearance, role of her husband...­.

Hang your head in shame Katie! Note the differences between your interview and that of your colleague's with Obama, which preceded yours. See a difference?

All you Obama maniacs should rejoice in having Katie Couric moderate the debate since she has nothing but contempt for Hillary Clinton. But then again, the mainstream media has been shredding Hillary from the very start of this campaign. I have never seen such bias, such cruelty, such ineptitude.

We finally know what Obama is really all about--an adherent of a a black separatist who hates white people, Israel, and our American way of life. Michelle Obama grew up in the church with Pastor Jeremiah Wright having the influence on her that led to her comment of having never been proud to be an American until her husband began to win caucuses.

So no one here remembers Katie asking Hillary in that one interview what she would do if she was not the nominee and Hillary kept saying "BUT I WILL BE THE NOMINEE". Katie asked her again about the small possibility of her not being and she just kept saying over and over again that she WOULD be the nominee.

I decided after that interview that there was no way I would ever vote for someone so arrogant. I have been proved right about her arrogance and many other things since then.

There's nothing more embarassing than this former today show hostess pretending to be a serious journalist. Yes there is, having her moderate a debate-it would be excruciating to watch.

Couric will come out trying to look like a reporter, asking tough questions. For Obama--she'll push and push on Resko (asked and answered already, many times), and his minister (which is pretty irrelevant).

For Clinton, she'll probably ask about taxes and Ferraro--but not push very hard when she gets "spin" rather than answers. She'll hit Obama hard on "experience", ask Clinton a question or two and then let it drop.

And she'll totally buy into the Clinton/Rove spin that the media is soft on Obama.

I predict an ugly night, with some soundbite grabbing media attention rather than anything illuminating, you know, about their POLICIES.
